  • "Bistro Jeanty did not meet my expectations. However, we probably ordered the wrong items. Instead of ordering the tomato soup and French standards like the coq au vin. I ordered the crispy pigs feet to start and the rabbit loin wrapped in pancetta. My date ordered the pate and the chicken special. Both of our main courses were overly salted. I would guess that it was just the specials and the main menu items are properly seasoned. The experience was still good and I will come back in the future and give Bistro another shot. "

  • "Food is very unique. Dishes you would not normally see elsewhere. I had the ribeye, it was tough, and a bit difficult to eat. Wife had the specail chicken dish which was very good. Service was attentive and I would say above average. However, restaurant is cramped and noisy and tables are very close together. The chairs are hard, small, and uncomfortable. For all the rave and attention this restaurant receives, I would not be going out of my way to get back there. Nice to experience, but for me just doesnt measure up to the hype. "

  • "The Good: The day specials were very tasty and provided some dishes we had not tried before. The wine selection was broad. The Bad: crowded, you feel like you are sitting together with the next table, people wait by the door overlooking you eat. That being said, overall good experience, and could enjoy our conversation, just don't expect a quiet romantic dinner."

  • "Very dissappointed !! We came here 2 months ago....everything was fantastic. We ordered french onion soup,ratatiulle,lamb chop special( over pruced at 38.00... Only 3 chops) Food was mushy...over cooked both ratatoulle and onion soup ...something was off...wad head chef out of town?? We felt our waiter was too sarcastic and made us feel uncomfortable...would love to try again but....then again...why?!!"

My only objection is that I thought the prices were too high; it will effect my decision to eat there more often. The service was competent but more officious rather than gracious."

  • "There was four of us in our party. We tried several dishes. Non of them was remarkable. Stake Tartare was bland and was already mixed together , Os a Moelle (roasted bone marrow) was tasty, Epaule de Pork (slow roasted pork shoulder) tasted like boiled pork, but the pieces of lardons in the dish (smoked bacon) was very tasty, brussel sprout side dish was just boiled , lamb was gamey and tough. Atmosphere was pleasant. Service was friendly. I would not recommend this restaurant."

  • "A very authentic bistro with excellent food. First course came out too fast, before I finished my aperitif, as waiter was not really paying attention. But rest was well done. I very much appreciate that they did NOT have brunch, as I really prefer the full, normal, lunch menu undiluted by apple-strawberry pancakes, or other such fare."

  • "Ambiance and food are very good, and some items on the menu are just great, like the creme caramel. But our server lacked focus, experience, and seemed spaced out. E.g. she did not know, and did not bother to find out, bother to find out the answer to our questions, such as: was the Strachey tartare chopped by knife or ground? Or, to a technical question about shaping of an appetizer. Before we were finished, even before the the main course, she attempted to remove the bread and butter more than once, did not replenish bread, and on top of that mindlessly would come and repeatedly pick up the butter tub and put it inside the bread basket, as if to teach us where the right place for the bread basket was! How silly?"

  • "Whenever I'm in Napa I eat here at least once, I always leave wanting to return. It's such a nice sunny feeling, romantic place with friendly servers. This trip I was with a girlfriend who's never been and we had a wonderful lunch. We tried the crispy pigs feet with a glass of Champagne , it was so good, if we hadn't ordered an entre we would've just ordered another each !"

My significant other is from France and put his stamp of approval on the cassoulet - everything in the dish was just so tasty. My pork shoulder was to die for - the meat was tender and flavorful. When in Yountville we're always going to Bouchon Bistro or Lucy, why did we ever wait so long to come here for dinner. I was at Bistro Jeanty years ago and have been wanting to take him to see how it compared to France. We return again soon."

  • "We went for a lovely dinner for a romantic evening as we did last year at this time. But this year, there were a few really loud tables in the back room with us that ruined the evening. A black hair on my plate beside the filet of sole had to be taken back, but the server apologized profusely and had another meal prepared for me. It was too noisy for us to stay and enjoy the dessert options. This is a great place for an energetic crowd, which they seem to cater to. It's not a spot for a quiet romantic dinner."

The Creme De Tomate en Croute $12 (tomato soup in a puff pastry) is simply amazing. Tomato soup is something I would never order in a restaurant, as tomato soup is tomato soup . . . right? . . . I mean how good can tomato soup be? You'll be a changed person when you order this version, as it's Crazy Good - NOTE: don't share or go mmmm, as you won't get it back. The Parfait De Foie Blond $13.50 (duck liver mousse with brioche) is over the top. The Cassoulet ($25.50) to the Coq Au Vin ($18.50) is VERY memorable. CAUTION: It can get VERY LOUD in the back 2nd dining room"
