Diner Reviews
  • "Bistro Henry was a charming apres-ski dining surprise at the foothills of the Green Mountains. It served an eclectic Mediterranean-style menu. I enjoyed the Prince Edward Island mussels, served in a generous portion. The linguine and lobster combination was very attractive in its warm cream sauce. Although there were several dessert choices, I found the smooth sorbet ices to be very soothing."

  • "My husband and I were looking for a nice place for dinner, while in Manchester. We found that BH's reviews were very consistent with our experience. The bread and goat cheese salad were amazing, the wines delicious (merlot and cab) and we really enjoyed our desserts. My husband got the duck, which he enjoyed; however, he didn't find the noodles notable. I had the steak with fries -steak was just ok. I had to send it back to the kitchen bc was served medium, when I ordered rare. They were really nice about it. We also got the risotto, which was very well done. Overall, I'd say we had a great experience and would certainly return there for a meal. I would probably try a different main course, as the food flanking it were far better."

  • "my husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Bistro Henry. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an interesting and varied menu. The service was excellent but still down to earth. The building itself is low-key, from what I saw, so don't expect anything too formal. If it was in my neighborhood I'd consider it my "neighborhood gem.""

  • "This is the second time we have dined here, and we were not disappointed. Everything we had was just delicious, and the service was great. We especially liked the mussel appetizer."

  • "The food is very good but the atmosphere is dated. I wish they had more grilled fish. More hearty meals but very tastey."

  • "Great place to dine rather than just eat. Desserts are incredible so leave room."

  • "Have been eating at this restaurant during President's Week annually for the past 4-5 years. Our last visit (2013) was not a very good experience as we had to wait an abnormal amount of time for our food and some of the orders did not come out. The management was not at all apologetic. We decided to give the restaurant another try and am happy to say they have improved quite a bit. Service was very good and food was good. I think some of the servers are more engaging and it just depends who you get that night."

  • "Perfect place for a romantic dinner away and the food was exceptional!"

  • "I've explored a few of the restaurants in town, including a very highly regarded French restaurant. This has been the best of them, with high-end appetizers and entrees, good portions, notable desserts (of which we have heard but not sampled, as we could not comfortably have done so), and an impressive wine list. The price is good, as my wife and I each had an appetizer and an entree and shared a bottle of wine for just under $120. Bisque and crab cakes were excellent, duck was the best I've had in some time, and the steak au poivre was, if a bit zesty (they warn you on the menu!), also good. The tourist set disregards the "no electronic devices" request on the menu, but the atmosphere and service are also high-end."

  • "It was a Wednesday night, and the restaurant wasn't at all crowded; the welcome was warm, the fireplace made the room inviting, and the service was friendly and efficient. The menu contains something for everyone. The foie gras medallions melted like butter once inside my appreciative mouth, and my main course of lamb chops was delicious. Sadly, I did not make it clear that I liked my lamb on the rare side, but even cooked to medium it was tender and flavorful; the fault was mine not the chef's. My companion loved the rabbit, which seldom appears on a menu. We shared a pecan pie with cranberry ice cream for dessert which would satisfy any southern-born diner (which I am!). Not an inexpensive meal, but the quality was worth it."

  • "I had not been to Bistro Henry's for some time, so I was very surprised that in a town where dining is becoming increasingly out of my budget, that I could still have a full-course gourmet meal with excellent wine for $40 per person. This included appetizers and aperitifs for all, main course, a $70 bottle of wine, and a shared dessert. The atmosphere is upscale casual, as is the food. The specials we had, lamb chops with thyme sauce and veal braised in ale, where generous and delicious. The service was efficient, friendly, and patient."

  • "The food was fabulous. And the atmosphere is quaint. Great that it is moderately kid friendly for well-behaved kids. Small kid menu, but not over priced like other places on a holiday evening(New Years eve) where other places charge $20 for a hot dog ! This is a definite place to go back to. Friendly service with a genuine interest in the customer. Not phony like other places . Well-done!"

  • "We traveled to Southern Vermont for the weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday, and I picked Bistro Henry for dinner after looking at many restaurants in the area -- and I'm glad I did! My husband declared that his meal (the gnocchi with beef ragu) made his (short) list of "best meals ever." I had the duck which I thought was fabulous, too, and the small plates provided great options for our 11 year old. The simple green salad was also perfect -- fresh and flavorful."

  • "Great spot 15 minutes down the hill from Stratton and Bromley. All four in our party, including 2 teenagers loved every course of their meal, The food was outstanding and the service very professional and friendly. Not inexpensive, but worth the price and they offer early bird and other specials to keep the total bill in control if you plan ahead. My wife and i have been here before, but first time with the kids and they really enjoyed a nice night out. We will be back!"

  • "The Bistro Henry is chef owned. He cooks divinely and his wife makes the most fabulous hot fudge sauce you'll ever taste. Our meal was the linguine with lobster, crab and scallops. There was NO SKIMPING on the seafood ingredients! The meal was outstanding as was the dessert. Our server, Katarina, was just wonderful! She was attentive but didn't hover. Her smile was delightful. We really enjoyed the tutorial she gave us on the different types of wine glasses. A wonderful experience and will definitely make it a point to dine there again. Also recommended it to friends and our family!"

  • "My husband and I went back here after being here in May. We were not disappointed in the least. Hubby had a steak, cooked to perfection and I had the pan seared sea scallops with lemon/ginger risotto which was excellent. The wait staff was very courteous and accommodating. An overall excellent dining experience!"

  • "Food was average the resturant was pricy for the quality of food. Due to there being some many great places in manchester I would not recommend this place very average"

  • "We were disappointed because we have had very good food there. We made a reservation based on the restuarant week promotion and when we were seated we had to ask for promotional menu, very uncomfortable. The choices were good and my wife and I a very good first course, for the main course my wife and I chose the swordfish. The server said that we could mave the swordfish two ways because the chef wanted to try something new. We both liked the traditional preparation with the pesto on top but thought the piccata preparation was slimy. We told the server after we ate and their was no response, like they really didn't care. My wife chose the blueberry/pear crisp and the top wasn't very crisp. So overall, it was not a great experience."

  • "Good food in a setting that need a huge upgrade. This is a drab space with wires hanging out and window air conditioners, faulty lighting. Food is good but I can't go back."

  • "We dined here on a Saturday night. Our server was friendly and informative. Since this was our first time here, we asked our server for suggestions. She highly recommended the mussel appetizer, and the lamb entree'. The mussels were excelllent, the best we've ever had. The escargot was good also, but i have had better. The lobster bisque, as the menu suggested, was really, really good. As far as entrees' we hade the lamb, crab cakes, spinach and garlic ravioli, and the steak frites. All were excellent. The steak was slightly over cooked ( medium istead of meadium rare), but was tender and flavorful. For dessert we had the berry crisp, which was also excellent."

  • "We began with dinner salads which were a bargain and were Caesar salads with white anchovies. Next came steak au poivre. If you don't want the full experience (which I thought was great) ask them to hold back on the pepper. The pommes frites were great. Half bottle of Merlot was a steal at $25. With dessert and a cocktail before dinner the meal came to $135 including tax. If bistro Henry were closer, we go every month."
