Diner Reviews
  • "An outstanding dining experience from beginning to end. This is our third visit and each one seems better. "

  • "Superb restaurant for those looking for a dining experience."

  • "Wonderful attentiveness and service prior to a theatre performance. Waiter made sure he knew the time of our performance and our order would be timely. Valet parking was such a convenience. Food and atmosphere were wonderful. A five star experience."

  • "I was there with a friend who I hadn't seen in awhile. Waiter picked up on fact that we wanted a leisurely paced dinner to give us time to catch up. It was great to have a wonderful dinner without being rushed. Nice evening all around."

  • "Dinner for two. My husband and I split an appetizer, salad, enter, dessert. Each dish delicious, beautifully prepared, and graciously served. While our dessert was hot on the outside it was not on the inside. We really should have asked for another but full and tired at end of long day we didn't. We did mention it when our server took it away. He said no charge. Well handled."

  • "I enjoy going to restaurants that are able to consistently meet or exceed my dining expectations and Bistro du Midi always does. We enjoyed another excellent meal there this past Friday. We were seated at the "chef's table" which overlooks the kitchen. After ordering one of the house special cocktails we had the Tuna Tartare, the Pan Roasted Monkfish and the Duck. Each dish was perfectly cooked and presented. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and professional and we have always enjoyed the ambiance, especially the tables that overlook the Public Garden."

  • "I can't say enough positive things about the phenomenal experience we had at bistro du midi. All staff were friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The fois gras, mussels, our main course lamb neck and soufflé were superb. Great spot that overlooks the Boston Garden. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening."

  • "I love this restaurant. The upstairs room is beautiful, vibrant, comfortable. The food is sublime. We had tuna tartare, pork belly, eggplant and olive dip for appetizers and the tilefish and the duck breast for entrees. It was all amazing. Our pinot noir was exceptional. I would eat here every week if I lived in Boston. C'est manufique."

  • "The food was amazing and you could tell the wait staff truly wanted you to have a great experience there. We will absolutely return."

  • "Lovely restaurant with great food. The waiter should be working at a hot dog stand. He was sloppily dressed, unprofessional and inappropriate. We expected an apology when he dropped a bottle of wine on the floor and on a guest. What we got was laughter."

  • "They held up their end during the Restaurant Week scene, had the same main course as last year (coalfish...)--which I thought was a little dubious--but the portion was bigger and flavors even better. Raw fluke was fresh and delicate, not too much seasoning. Ate by the window in a curtain alcove, perfect spot. Head Sommelier came in person with digestif options, nice touch!"

  • "I met a friend here for Restaurant Week and it was fantastic. After reviewing the menus, we were greeted by the sommelier who helped us select a bottle of wine to pair with my fish and her pasta dish. Service was impeccable throughout the meal. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or in search of a romantic night out."

  • "Not much of a crowd on a Sat night. Quickly found out why. Not customer oriented enough. Wine sommelier was such a snob. First he nearly shoved our bottle of wine up his nose to sniff. Eeww. Then he insisted upon only pouring us 3 oz of wine at a time. "For optimal sniffing" he explained. Seriously??? I just left 2 kids at home. Give me a drink for goodness sake. Valet took forever. Restaurants that care about customers grab the valet tix during dessert so car is waiting on a rainy Boston night. One & done for us."

  • "Was a little late to my reservation on a saturday night, and hostess could not have been more nice and accommodating about it. We were promptly seated in the really nice and fairly intimate upstairs dining room, great atmosphere. The one noticeable thing at this restaurant I hadnt noticed at others for a while is that the dining staff are very present. They are constantly moving and diligently getting things done, but never in an intrusive or interrupting manner. The place was packed and we were in great hands. Food was the highlight, got a great suggestion from our server. The portions are just right for an app to be split before entrees, I would advise doing so. Well worth the price, cannot wait to come back."

  • "This was not my first visit to Bistro du Midi. I dine there perhaps 4-5 times a year. Quick notes: 1. Our party of 6 all enjoyed their meals. 2. Todd (sommelier) was very helpful as always. 3. Mussels appetizer was excellent! 4. Hazelnut mouse dessert was delightful. 5. Service was top-notch. The restaurant is next door to the Four Seasons on Boston Common. It's easy to get to, offers valet parking ($18 + tip) if you need it (saves walking from Charles Street parking garage under the common), and provides excellent service, an interesting menu of wonderful food, and a great wine list."

  • "Great location for a romantic dinner. The mussels appetizer was enough to set your palate up for a delightful dinner. Service was top notch. Spring views would be better than winter but anytime is good."

  • "The waiters and the hostess are all very friendly and provide excellent service. I was impressed by the coat room having its own heating system, which makes your coats warm and toasty when you leave the restaurant and head out into the cold. The bread was okay. For appetizers we got the crudo of fluke, which was very nice, and the mussels, which really could've been better. There was a good amount of sand in each of the mussels... For the entree we got the steak and the coalfish. Both were superb although the sides could use some improvement. For dessert we got the Gianduja Palette and the Apricot Clafoutis. I must say, if you like nutella, go for the Gianduja Palette! It's the fancy and better version of a chocolate-hazelnut."

  • "No acknowledgement. No introduction. Terrible service. Food was alright. The hostess or manager was so nice, we rather give to to him! It's a beautiful restuarant, but service was so bad, we will not come back!"

  • "I visited Bistro Du Midi with a friend of mine during the restaurant week. The food was very well-prepared and savory, but I would not give the taste a five-star. It was indeed delicious, but it was not entirely mind-blowing in any way. Maybe a four-star. The service was very good. The waiter was very nice and polite, and he was knowledgeable about the menu. However, isn't that what we all should expect from a paid service? So I would not use that as a reason to give it a five-star rating. Like a lot of people have said before, I feel that the individual attention to each customer was lacking during the peak hours. Also, towards the closing hours, the waiters start to show their true colors-rather an unpleasant experience."

  • "I have been here about 4 times and everytime the food and service is great. Also, it has a very nice view."

  • "Went here on a Monday night during Dine Out Boston. Staff was very welcoming and friendly, and I got a good first impression. Server was attentative and nice. We decided to go for the set 3 course menu. Food was great, and I loved the dessert, which I think they also have on their regular menu; the Gianduja palette. At first glimpse, we thought the size of the plates was a little bit small, but it turned out to be well-proportioned and we left the restaurant satisfied. We arrived quite early, and the noise level were quiet. During the night, as more parties arrived, the noise level became moderate. Would definitely go there again!"

  • "The food is a wonderful balance of luscious flavors and surprising ingredients, without ever straining or becoming precious. The fluke appetizer with pistachio and blood orange was my absolute favorite of the evening, while the chicken breast was anything but pedestrian with a crusty golden exterior and perfectly moist interior. The excellent wine list has an extensive range of choices. The service perfect and the room itself warm and inviting. Best of Boston."

  • "As before, the food was outstanding and the service great. There can be noise, and we moved tables to get to a quieter spot. The staff were very understanding."

  • "This was our first time dining at this restaurant located next to The Four Seasons. The dining room is lovely. We asked to be seated at the window table which looks out over the Public Garden. The maitre'd gave us the table knowing that we would complete our dinner before the expected reservation party arrived. Wait staff is well-informed and attentive. We ordered from the special Dine Out Boston menu. Mussels with pistou had great flavor. Recommended wine was a great choice. Flat-iron steak was much too salty. The dish was immediately whisked away. Both the waiter and maitre'd apologized and confirmed my opinion. A beautiful new steak quickly appeared and I was thanked for helping the kitchen. Great desserts. Wonderful time."

  • "I don't usually write reviews, but I have to for Bistro du Midi because they let us move our reservation back a half hour on a busy Saturday night at the last minute. Plus the food and wine were excellent. It's the perfect location if you're going to a show in the theater district."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "All I can say it was blah. Nothing noteble and food was bland. Service was poor and very cold. Was excited to go here and left disappointed that I spent as much money as I did on a mediocre experience."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "We decided to try Dine Out Boston menu this time but regular menu is very nice too. Wine list is quite good and cocktails are fantastic!!! Will go back more often if the deco and bar scene upstairs were a little more exciting...... But food and drinks are awesome and that is important."

  • "Bistro du Midi was recommended to me by both friends and coworkers, so i decided to give it a shot for a special anniversary dinner. I didn't realize there was a 2nd story but the dining room was gorgeous with plenty of ambient lighting. The staff were great and service was well-paced. The Restaurant Week pre-fixe menu options were delicious. Also try the wine!"

  • "The food was absolutely delicious from the first course to the dessert. It was beautifully presented and served by a very friendly and accommodating staff. We will definitely be back."

  • "This is our new favorite when we come to Boston. The windows on one wall of the dining room add to the atmosphere. The menu and food and wine are exceptional. We will be back."

  • "Every time I've dined here, I have the best dinner. The waitstaff is excellent and knowledgeable without being stuffy. The cocktails are fresh and delicious. A great wine list to pair with any of their delicious entrees. Do not miss the roast chicken; melts in your mouth. By far, my favorite restaurant in Boston."

  • "I booked this for a 5 people team dinner. We got the big table in the very end of second floor, which could be separated by a very thick curtain, awesome! Service is outstanding, the guys really took care of us. Food wise, we went for the restaurant week menu, so cannot speak for it, since... I knew these are not their best. Bread (both types) fantastic! Cannot remember how many break sticks I have had..."

  • "After having dined here many times we were completely underwhelmed with the food that was served during Dine Boston week. Even with the increase in price we felt the meal was not worth the price and 2 out 3 entrees were so excessively salted it was difficult to finish eating the meal."

  • "I really enjoy the food and service Bistro du Midi have."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "Bistro du Midi never disappoints! The atmosphere overlooking the Public Garden is gorgeous; relaxed but classy. The food has great flavors and is bistro with a flair, not your normal everyday menu. The steamed mussels are really terrific and the night we visited they were prepared with a basil cream sauce that was outstanding. We've visited several times and have never been disappointed."

  • "Overall we had a wonderful meal and experience. My meal was excellent from the soup to the main fish course. My wife did not enjoy her veal dish as much as I had hoped but still had a wonderful evening. The desert soufflé was just perfect to finish the evening. We would definitely go back and explore some more of the menu."
