About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for brunch
  • Innovative
Exotic French flavors, inverted pendants and native walled illustrations define the dining experience at Bistro Dre. The restaurant is embellished with Euro flair décor: portraits, island lights and multiple artifacts—all collectively adding to its chic and uplead character. The indoor is compact yet contrastingly capacious and the waiting staff is prompt and non-intrusive. Patrons can course an entire meal at Bistro De with an expansive selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Seafood and charcuterie dominate the recipes. Among the customer favorites are crusted white fish, mussels provencal, braised lamb pasta, steak and frites, lobster bisque, roasted beet stuffed beets and triple chocolate fudge cake. Bistro De serves lemonade and bottled soda to complement the flavorful platters.

Our server was very nice prices are reasonable and the room is cozy. But we were disappointed that the menu is not particularly French and the food was just average.

Disappointed in our visit to Bistro Dre. When we arrived we told server that we had to be served by 7 for a play that we were attending. We received starters quite promptly but when we were not served main course timely(we only ordered 2 for our party of 4) we left.

The food was terrific. So were the desserts. The 25 deal was a good one. We really enjoyed the food and service.

We were tempted to try out this BYOB place in the neighborhood because we had never been and we were looking to save money on our meal, although with the entrees costing $25 per plate it wasn't necessarily worth the visit in the end. The shared plates are served in larger portions and this might be a good place to visit with a group because you can bring as much booze as you need and spilt the dishes amongst the table. The restaurant is short staffed and we were very impressed how just 3 people ran the show here. They close early at 9:00 p.m. and we were the last ones to leave the restaurant which felt a little awkward. The entrees were average and not worth the price. We have heard good things about their brunch and I would be curious next time to try out other dishes. We'll try it out for brunch, but would not go back for dinner.

I went here with a very good friend and restaurant buff. Super cute place with good food and easy going atmosphere. The only improvement i would suggest is dimming the lights. Thanks for the good experience, Dre!

Food was amazing and the value was well worth the drive from the south suburbs. The decor is beautiful and who doesn't like BYOB. The only problem was the service. Place is very small so it should not have been an issue but waiter was not very attentive.

A terribly reasonable, yet hot, homespun brasserie in the heart of North Lincoln Park.

Service: I head service was great and fun at this place...sadly, not for me. Our waiter never told us his name, he really couldn't answer questions, he kept getting our orders mixed up and there were only four of us. Basically he couldn't remember anything and he lacked customer service skills and personality. Food: Bread was fantastic! I had the the lamb shoulder which was very delicious. I really enjoyed it as my main entree. The lobster bisque soup was good..nothing to write home about but good. The hot vanilla croissant bread pudding was way too sweet for my taste. Two people in my group ordered steak and salmon. They said it was good but too salty. The other person in the group ordered the fried chicken, which she said was bland and lacked flavor. I tasted it and agreed. It appears they never have the creme Brulee even though it's on the menu according to other reviews. They didn't have it when we were there either. Price: We did the three course menu for $25. It is worth it. However, ala carte is over priced. $17,50 for Mac and Cheese..really? I wanted to try it but just couldn't justify that much for mac and cheese. Ambiance: Adorable place, fun decor and it's a BYOB!! I was looking so forward to dine here, and was a little disappointed. Overall not worth the $$$ unless you do the the $25 three course option. It's a comfort food joint. You will feel 10 pounds heavier when you leave.
