Our dinner at Bistro Don Giovanni's was a wonderful end to a wonderful day. The food was outstanding and so fresh. Our waiter was wonderful and attentive but not too attentive. I mentioned it was my boyfriend's birthday and he placed a candle in the piece of decadent cake we shared for desert? There were some mix ups with our food arriving on time, but the management gave us desserts on the house and everyone was so apologetic. This is truly one of our favorite restaurants, and we've dined there consistently for 20+ years. The food is always so fresh, so beautifully presented and the staff so kind and accomdating. It is our "go-to" restaurant and we love to bring friends with us. The food is always beautifully prepared. I especially enjoyed the spaghetti with clams preparation on the current menu. We were running a little late for our reservation but called ahead and the restaurant was more than accomodating. While we waited a few extra minutes for our table (even though we had a reservation) it was worth it. We were on the patio under the trellis. Quaint yet elegant. It didn't hurt that our waiter was Italian from Pisa and 100% charming. The food is mouthwatering delicious and the service was attentive, and very friendly. We cannot wait to go back. If you like Italian and you're concerned about the "quality to price" ratio, Giovanni is the best deal in the Napa Valley. Sevice is friendly - although it can get so busy and the room is often so full of "regulars" - that a "newbie" can feel a little ignored. Try as I might, I can't ever remember a bad meal. Giovanni's serves 5 star, rustic Italian food at 3 star prices, (house made pasta, thin crust pizzas, grilled meats and fresh sea food). The wine list is long and fairly priced, (ah gee, they seem to have takin' Screaming Eagle off the list). Service is warm and friendly.
