Our serving of Moules à la Bière, mussels in Belgian ale, was the best in memory, with delicious bread to sop up all the liquids in the bowl. Two of us shared the Bistro Burger featuring Black Earth beef, every bite of which we savored, as we did the fried onions. The third person had the Poulet Rôti Forestière, which was more than she could finish and a dish she could not stop raving about, even after departing the restaurant. This time to celebrate our 46th anniversary.They never disapoint. The food and service are top notch. Had the Strudel and the Pate plate for startersa. My wife loves their chicken specialty and I had the pork chop this time. Both done perfectly. Love this place.
Interestingly, while we were there celebrating our 46th, a young couple at the table next to us, got up, went outside in the garden and he dropped to his knee and proposed. She accepted and both seemed quite happy. The menu didn't excite us as it used to; the party at the next table (extremely close) was loud and seemed to deter our own conversations. The food was delicious. Can't complain. I wish I was there when it was warmer to enjoy the beautiful patio!! My only suggestion: don't feel like you have to eat everything. It's ok to take some food home. My fiance and my stomachs were a bit "urpy" due to the buttery, garlic and general richness of the food. Don't be bashful about taking home a doggie bag. I love it! The food was incredible and the interior was extremely charming. Its great for groups and can be very romantic for dates. Patrick, our EXCELLENT server, knew of our time constraints and was exceptional at keeping everyone on time. He was also accommodating in a split-check request. Our meals all came as ordered and what my husband and I shared was terrific! An octopus appetizer, a quinoa and eggplant entree salad and the wonderful "madame" ham and cheese with egg sandwich. YUM! The bartender was wonderfully adept at a couple of cocktails; what could be better. Amazingly prepared food, great wine list with suggested pairings, and diligent service, right down to scraping the breadcrumbs off of the tablecloth! Definitely recommend this to foodies. Make sure to make reservations at least a few days ahead. We like the intimate ambience and the fact that you can dress up or not. The excellent waitress tried to help us over our disappointment with some very tasty duck croquettes, but we were still sad.
Amazing mac & cheese in french style and the chicken is also lovely. I had the beef bourguignon special, which was delicious, but a little light on the beef. Great crusty french bread to start. We'll be back, but will call way ahead to see if we can order the duck in advance.
