We found Bistro by the Tracks
passing through on our way back to NYC from New Orleans, and we found it outstanding. The place is beautiful inside, understated, and modern, but classy. At first we thought it looked closed, and the Marriott Courtyard told us that it was closed, but we checked OpenTable and made reservations, so it had to be open. It only looked empty because the shades were drawn to shade out the bright evening sun. The best part was that we literally walked to dinner in less than five minutes. The food overall was excellent. We had the duck and maui-mahi, both very good, and the wines by the glass on offer were great. The popcorn parfait desert might be one of the best deserts I've ever eaten, I swear! "

Our first time here. Seated
immediately, fast service, great food. We shared scallops for an appetizer...the best we have had. My wife loved the duck. I had the catfish. Very good although I would have liked the batter coating to be a little thinner. Desert was a deconstructed lemon meringue pie...very interesting presentation and good. "

Service was top-notch, martini's
amazing, food decadent, desserts to devour. Can't wait to return!"

The proprietors have decided to
offer a very limited menu and that set our expectations for bistro classics that would be well prepared. In fact the pork dish over grits and beef version of osso buco were both bland. Perhaps we hit an off night but the good does not come close to supporting the menu prices."

Meal was very tasty form the
lettuce wedge, the delicious entrees, to the yummy desserts. Service was excellent. Our waiter was amazing! We enjoyed every aspect of the restaurant and will definitely be back!"

Best atmosphere in Knoxville! Has
the feel of a big city restaurant. Super wine selection. We had the mahi-mahi, salmon, and swordfish. All were superb! Attentive wait staff without being overbearing. Never had to fill our wine glasses ourselves. We will definitely be back."

Interior is warm, inviting,
classic. Our server was perfect - attentive but not intrusive, warm and friendly but not over-familiar - delightful. Menu is amazing - wonderful creativity - combinations of components and ingredients I've never seen together, yet when I saw them, I thought, of course! We each had pork tenderloin with apples, currants, served over a bed of grits. Presentation was beautiful, and the tenderloin was perfect, incredibly flavorable without being over-seasoned. Gasped with pleasure at first taste. Wine room with a sommelier, impressive wine selection. We had "PB&J" and carrot cake for dessert, and both were, again, beautifully presented, very fresh & unique. Prices surprisingly moderate. Going back next week!"

When you wake up the next morning
remembering that you had a very nice meal the night before, both delicious and well presented and didn't leave you feeling like you've overeaten even with dessert, then I think you've got a winner."
Dined on 3/19/2014
The food was excellent. My spouse
had fillet mignon that you could almost cut with a fork, and cooked perfectly. I had sword fish that was not fishy, firm and delicious. The wine was good and overall an excellent meal."

Great dinner before the George
Thorogood concert. Food was fantastic, especially the lamb. Service was excellent. Beer list is great."

Prepare to spend but it's worth
it. Great drinks too!"

When in Knoxville, stop in Bistro
By The Tracks. Fabulous food, professional, friendly service, an amazing wine list along with a calm and relaxed ambience all work together to make this lovely little not so hidden treasure Tennessee's best! Whether you crave fish, fowl or beef, this Bistro will never disappoint. Kudo's to the chef! Applause to the staff! Five stars given every time we visit. Only downside? The Bistro Tracks haven't stopped in Nashville! We need a version of Tennessee's best!"

To us this is the new Regas. The
service is spectacular. The menu is varied enough that there is something for everyone, not just fish or sea food. Good place for a special occasion or a group but if you are going have a reservation."

While the food is very delicious
and the main entree large enough, the sides leave you feeling like you've just eaten at an extremely fancy French restaurant. In other words, you leave feeling hungry. For example, I had a tiny dish of brussel sprouts and there were probably at best only 3 brussel sprouts cut in half. I don't need monster portions but want to feel like I have eaten."

When my girlfriend asked a bunch
of her friends where we should go for a romantic dinner, the majority of them suggested Bistro by the Tracks. As soon as we walked in I knew we were in the perfect place: dark wood, casual ambiance, mood lighting, and smiles all around. The staff was warm & friendly, the food was prepared perfectly, and the desert was HEAVENLY!!! We plan on making this place "OUR" place from now on! Glen Stafford, Vermont"

The menu choices are unlike what
are offered in most restaurants. The ambiance is classy modern at the same time warm and inviting, reminding me of upscale restaurants in Dallas or Austin. The flavor of our entrées was very good. We felt that the prices were high for what you got. For example, for $15 you got a serving of meatloaf but no sides, and none were offered to purchase either. The service, while good, was not exceptional considering we were among very few patrons. We had to ask for refills on our drinks twice, and waited a long while for the check to be picked up. Still, it was worth experiencing for something new and different."

Perfect atmosphere, service, food,
wine for romance."

Bistro has a welcoming atmosphere
which lends to a wonderful, relaxed dining experience. If you are looking for a quiet atmosphere, dine early on in the evening. The restaurant does fill up quite a bit after 6pm and can get noisy with large parties. The dishes are pretty pricey, but the combination of flavors and the high quality of food used make the tab worth in on special occasions. This is also a great venue for executive business dinners."

Impeccable service from our server
Jeremy! Food pairings were Awesome! Nice place to enjoy a special occasion or to just have a very nice dinner without kids anywhere. The wine choices were extensive and we were offered a sample tasting before ordering."
Dined on 2/8/2014
The food choices, flavor
combinations, and serving size leave much to be desired. For the expense of the meal +$50/person, we expected our birthday celebration to be memorable. All we will remember is not to bother returning. If you enjoy wine and not food, this may be your place but honestly, Knoxville has too many other choices."

BBTT is a casual place to dine
with a simply elegant yet unpretentious menu. The service is ever present but never smothering. The food presentation is above reproach. The sauces flavorful and complimentary to each dish. The value received for the price paid is exceptional. higher end food establishments in Knoxville could learn from BBTT."

A superb dining experience! Our
server Dan should give lessons on how to be perfectly attentive and informative without being intrusive. This was by far the best service we have ever had in all the years we have been dining out in Knoxville! When our entrees arrived, they were almost too beautiful to eat. After a well-deserved moment of admiration, we actually tasted them and were not at all disappointed. The chef’s creations are unique and complex, yet perfectly balanced. If all of that weren’t enough, the wine list is impressive and the signature cocktails are as divine as the meal. Our only regret is not having room for dessert."

An important 40th birthday for a
son and a great place to have dinner with his father. The food was delicious - the lamb shank is to die for - coming from someone who doesn't like lamb! The wine and waitstaff were attentive but not over the top. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Will be back...."

The entire experience was
outstanding. The offerings were unique, well presented and delicious. Excellent service as well.the lamb chop is a must! Anxious to share the Bistro with out of town guests."
Dined on 1/20/2014
Superb ambience and service! The
menu is limited, but the food is excellent-intensely flavorful and fresh! Save room for the dessert; loved the Caramel Popcorn Cake. The Triple-Sorbet dish, with cookie, was refreshing and pleasant to the palette. Wine list is extensive, with mast variety of choices."

Can't say enough about the food
and presentation of same. Delicious and beautiful. The new menu is a delight. Would like to see the broccoli salad back on the menu, however."
Dined on 1/16/2014
Food was fantastic as always,
everything from the ribeye to the burger, but especially the sweetbreads. Had exceptional service. Upon arriving we expected to have one more person join us and they accomodated the extra seat for the reservation even though the other person did not join. Love the flexibility and accomodation! Always recommend to friends and this is our go to spot for all celebrations big and small."

From the maitre'd opening the door
to the waitstaff to the deconstructed "lemon meringue pie with blueberries," the service and food was devine. With no specials for the evening because the menu was changing the following week, I had broccoli salad, pork tenderloin with apple slivers on top of grits, followed by the dessert as above. Mmmmmm. I can't say enough. I'll be back to see what the new menu for the season is like. It has a Chicago-like atmosphere, attentive waitpersons, a wonderful wine list and fabulous food. The clientele was dressed so nicely, too. I like eating out where the men are in suits and the women are successful-looking. No jeans and ball caps for me."
Dined on 1/9/2014
My party and I all agreed that our
respective entrees (all ordered something different) were excellent. The Caesar salad that I ordered by mediocre at best. Dressing was not the best and just lettuce. We will definitely return!!"
Dined on 12/31/2013
Consistently good, balanced
entrees that change periodically with the seasons. Desserts have been stepped up over the past year and are interesting culinary inspired twists on familiar tastes like "caramel corn", "lemon pie", and "bourbon and coke." Excellent, strong French press coffee."
Dined on 12/23/2013
The new chief shows promise, but
is inconsistent. His butter-nut squash soup with crème fraise, fried sage & ham crumbs was luscious and brilliant. The seared scallops were well done, accompanied by kale, but the coconut foam (the plate was supposed to evoke a sea scene) was more flotsam the flavor. The tea smoked duck was ground into a tubular pate, tasting neither of duck nor smoke and the brussel sprout kimchee added nothing. The swordfish was well prepared and set off nicely by an olive salad. Service was, as always, superior. The adequate wine list is almost exclusively American and lacks with and depth."

It was a mid-December day and The
Bistro appeared to be full. If so, after we were seated, we never felt slighted in the least. Their timing is exceptional. Three new dishes and we tried them all. Of course we tasted each of those three. It was unanamous! We had each ordered the best."
Dined on 12/13/2013
Liked the small plate starters
with complex flavors and ingredients. Food was top notch. Wine list was extensive but few moderate priced offerings at the high end plenty of wines to spend on. Seasonal menu was a hit. whether our group had lamb shank, rib eye or swordfish. Again all flavorful, seasonal veggies either shredded or pureed. Servers worked in teams and were very sensitive to when to insert for questions. Sort of out of the way place but work finding - thanks to open table."

Overall Bistro continues to
please. New winter menu is great and the wine list continues to impress. Strangely this trip though the staff was a bit odd. We had a slight issue with one of the wines ordered and were given a rather standoffish response from management. I'll not discourage dining at Bistro from one event as it remains one of our favorite places and we've always experienced friendly and energetic staff. Our server was fantastic as well. Perhaps someone was simply not having the best of days."
Dined on 12/7/2013
I've been to the Bistro many times
and had always thought that the food and service were unmatched in Knoxville. Unfortunately, I was prepared to never return after the last visit (tiny portions, higher prices). I'm glad I was talked into going one last time because the food was delicious (grilled swordfish over cauliflower puree, caesar salad, with carrot cake for dessert). Our waiter, whose name escapes me, was courteous, pleasant and very efficient. A pleasant meal was had by all."

We come here regularly to
celebrate special occasions - This time it was our anniversary. Our high expectations were not disappointed - The atmosphere was very nice, the waiter very helpful and knowledgeable, and the food simply outstanding. Definitely one of our favorite places to eat in Knoxville!"

The service was impeccable and the
food was outstanding!"

This may be the best restaurant in
Knoxville. The creativity in every aspect of its menu, the quality of service and the quality of the food is superior to anything in the area with the possible excpetion of the Foothills Milling Company in Maryville."
Dined on 11/10/2013
if this restaurant was in our
town, it would be our go to restaurant. I can't believe it is in Knoxville. The food is delicious. Everything looks good on the menu. Pleasant staff and inviting, comfortable atmosphere."
Dined on 11/22/2013
The menu online differed from
lunch menu presented. Ate there a year ago and did not like the menu at all. Was fabulous in 2012 before they changed chefs. Thought the menu had changed by what was online, but it had not. Portions were ridiculously small with a high price tag. Doubt that I will be returning any time soon."
