A word from Bistro Bordeaux
The philosophy of the menu at Bistro Bordeaux is an expression of our French culinary heritage, for which we have a profound admiration. The support of our local farmers allows us to use the freshest produce and seafood, just as one would find in the markets in the south of France. The menu showcases the freshness of these pure ingredients through simple, flavorful combinations.
As the passing of fall brings day light savings time with early nightfall, we are always excited to welcome back the great comfort food dishes typically found in bistros; the first taste of the “Coq au Vin” and the pervading perfumes of the long cooked “Cassoulet Toulousain”, come to mind. It is, in our opinion, this style of cuisine that offers the clearest definition of traditionally rooted French fare
We hope you enjoy the eating as much as we enjoy the preparation in the kitchen and wish you all "Bon appétit"!

Second visit to BB. Went w my parents and two children. Dining room about 3/4 full. Waiter friendly. Husband ordered special tart for app and steak frites. Children both had onion soup and steak frite. Parents had salads and coq a vin. I had onion soup and croque madame. The hight point of the meal was the bread served on arrival and the wine we ordered. Sadly we reached the high point of the meal prior to receiving out appetisers! Food was served in a timely manner. The problem was the food my husband, children and I had was just BAD! Tart was cold and uninspired. Onion soup was okay and saved myself and children from leaving hungry. The Steak Frite, a bistro staple, was very tough and the flimsy steak knives barely could cut it. The easy part, the french fries, were the frozen type and not very hot for the most part. Lastly, my croque madame, another bistro staple, was poorly prepared and swimming in a cold, bland, white "sauce". The bread was not toasted at all so was soft and ultimately soggy under all the sauce. My parents, politely said the coq a vin was good but i have my doubts. As we were entertaining and trying for a relaxing family meal we did not complain. However, i now regret this decision. The waiter never asked us about our food. The final bill was delivered after a 20% auto gratuity was added. We will not return to Bistro Bordeaux!!

I'd been here before so anticipated good food and got it. Soup, sale, scallops, coq as vin all good plus. Table too close to door which was not comfortable, also tables generally very close together which became noisy and hard to converse easily. Excellent service and food quality make Bistro worth revisiting.

Wonderful selection for Sunday Brunch. The Bloody Marys are just spicy enough and perfect to start your meal. The French Onion soup was great and hit the spot on a cold Sunday afternoon. Omelets change each week and I had the roasted tomato, mushroom and Gouda cheese. Yummy!

The food at Bistro Bordeaux was amazing - my partner and I tried a couple new things that we'd never had before in terms of French cuisine. Our waiter, (Eric? Derek?) was really helpful in choosing wine and food, and he was very pleasant and attentive. My only complaint is that it's a fairly small place with lots of tables, so we were very close to neighboring tables and it was pretty loud. There was also an accordian player, which definitely added to the ambiance, but he also added to the noise :-)

We took a large (9-person) group of students and parents to Bistro Bordeaux over Northwestern's parents weekend. While we would have been content with decent fare and competent hosting, we got much more than that. The ambiance was charming and authentic--I've visited my share of Parisian bistros--the food was consistently good and in some respects excellent, and the service was exceptional. We'll be back.

We had prior good experiences with this restaurant. We went on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was packed and loud. The service was so poor that a member of our party finally got up and found a water pitcher and refilled the glasses. I ordered the Bouillabaise which was served in an incredibly small portion. The other entrees were not up to the standard we previously enjoyed.

Highlights were the perfect baguette served in paper, the amazing cream of turnip soup, the beet salad, the cheese plate, and the very helpful friendly waiter. I would have liked to try so many other things on the menu, so I definitely will be back. It brought back memories of dining in France and made for a great birthday dinner!

This place is cute and lively. However, my wife's Steak was inedible. All gristle and fat. The nice waiter quickly took it away and replaced it after about 10 minutes with a piece even worse. For a French restaurant not to do a simple Steak Frittes right is an indication that nobody is on point with food purveyors and monitoring what is used and comes out of the kitchen. Big warning sign. While it was removed from the bill, no fun leaving hungry.

This is a very authentic bistro experience, from the banquettes and butcher paper to the American jazz on the sound system. The menu is classic bistro fare (steak pommes frites, mussels, trout, profiteroles, etc.) beautifully prepared and presented, which is to say that no showy bells and whistles detracted from the food itself. Service was impeccable, warm and witty. We will definitely return to this gem.

This restaurant was outstanding! Delicious dinner of escargots, french onion soup, mussels and chicken. The wine list was great and we enjoyed a bordeaux Chateau Haut-Colombier Cotes des Blaye which we will look for in the future. Our server, Eric was attentive and very personable and fun to talk to. Romantic restaurant and we loved everything about it. We only wished we had the time (we had an event to attend) to order dessert. We will definitely go there again and would highly recommend it.

Bistro Bordeaux has become a favorite because of its very good food and comfortable ambiance. In the recent visit, the foie de volaille was marvelous and the sea scallops with lardons and fall vegetables were delicious. On the other hand, service has always been a bit spotty. The servers are always friendly and pleasant, but often miss the right timing and degree of attentiveness. During this past visit, the charming waiter may have been the only one on duty so there were some timing mishaps. Still, the restaurant is well worth a visit, and we will certainly be back.

Returned here after several years to find menu and food really excellent. Noise level though was almost unbearable-- not at all conversation-friendly. As a table of 5, conversation was virtually impossible on a Saturday night to the point where we aimed to have dessert and coffee elsewhere to catch up with our friends. Food was excellent, might try early dinner on weeknight (which is not our typically dinner time or night out so not sure when we will return). Lively is nice but this was just too difficult to converse.

Despite a decent menu and atmosphere, the shortcomings came from basic execution. Between my wife and I we had four poached eggs between our two dishes. Three were nothing short of hard boiled and the fourth was custard like but pretty firm. The short rib in my wife's dish was stringy and dry and obviously left over from a prior dinner service. The one highlight was the house cured salmon was pretty good. Service was so-so but I think he saw our eggs and was afraid to come back. This place projects itself better in image than they actually produce a good meal.

We had an 8 pm reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant was quite busy at the time & our table for 2 was cozy. The lighting was fairly dim but since most people use iPhones featuring a flashlight feature we were easily able to read the menu. I had the cold foie gras appetizer and my wife had the escargots. Our main dishes were trout for my wife and ribeye steak for myself. The food was exquisite and the service was attentive. We also shared a wonderful inexpensive Bordeaux. Pricing was moderate and offered tremendous value for the portions received. This was our 2nd visit to this wonderful establishment and it was simply outstanding in every imaginable way. We will dine here again and are looking forward to it!

We have been there on several occasions and the food is good. We had a crowded table in the corner of the restaurant and our waiter was Juan. Our service was not very good as I believe he had too many table for which he was responsible thus we waited to even be able to order a second glass of wine. The gratuity was automatic as usual with a table for 8 but as a result, there was no way to adjust the tip based on less than great service.
