Bistro BordeauxExcellent!Super French bistro - classic offerings with a few modern twists - the food was superb and the service attentive and knowledgeable. I've been for brunch and dinner. Definitely a stand-out in Evanston.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went with a group of 8We went with a group of 8 friends with years to catch up on. Food and service were great!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy dinner at Bistro BordeauxMy dinner at Bistro Bordeaux was an excellent experience on al fronts. The food--I had the Idaho trout with peas, leeks and mushrooms served with purple mashed potatoes; my partner had steak frites. Both were delicious. Although the room is crowded, noise did not seem to be an issue on a Sunday evening. It's an outstanding addition to Evanston dining.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA very enjoyable dining experience.A very enjoyable dining experience. Interesting, although somewhat limited, menu with all the bistro favorites. The moules frites are as good as any you'll find in France or Belgium. Polite and attentive service. Wine list is exclusively French and rather pricey. We've been several times and will continue to return.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great experienceAlways a great experience here. We brought some friends this trip and they were just as impressed. Highly recommend the trout and duck and charcuterie appetizer and, last but not least, the meringue for dessert which is nothing short of incredible.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time there. TheOur first time there. The food, specifically the trout, was superb. Service was excellent. We will surely go back. Somewhat noisey and tables very close together. We heard both conversations from the tables next to us. Mostly problems with their kids or other people's kids.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and wines thatExcellent food and wines that are not found elsewhere and are fairly priced.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile I personally was notWhile I personally was not overjoyed with my food and experience, the rest of my group absolutely loved their food, we ordered the steak tartare and escargot and everyone raved about them, steak ponne frites were order by 3 of us and the steak was a bit tough but the frites were yummy. The duck was amazing and my husband said the trout was the best fish he had ever eaten. Desserts were well received as well, the merengue, pain pardu and chocolate terrine were all very good. Overall, service and food were great for mostly everyone and we would definitely return.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner was excellent. WineDinner was excellent. Wine list is impressive. As good, or better as any of this type in the city or suburbs.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, terrific service,Great food, terrific service, the wait staff knows their food and their wines and is very attentive... GREAT profiteroles!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent BistroI am a frequent diner here for a reason: the food is very good. I took my daughter out for oysters (Tuesdays are “oyster night”). We ate two dozen; half east coast/ half west coast. Fresh, briny and firm with three clear sauces(one a bit spicy, one mostly vinegar and one on the buttery side).
My daughter had Coq au Vin which was tender and delicious in the classic French preparation. I had Gnocchi Parisienne à l’Arome de Café et son Agneau Braisé (braised lamb shoulder, Julius Meinl coffee gnocchis, oil cured olives, tomato concassée, confit shallots, lemon preserve, Aleppo pepper) which was melt-in-your-mouth good. Salty, savory and a slight sweetness brought out the rich lamb flavor beautifully.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have a great mealWe always have a great meal at Bistro Bordeaux. We both had the barramunda (sp?). Very fresh and flavorful.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSweet restaurant, super friendlyThe food here was extremely good to outstanding. I had the butterbrown trout and couldn't stop eating it. My friend had the dessert that was like french toast dipped in creme brulee. So amazing. Most appealing was the attentive and friendly staff.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOoh La laExcellent food, great service. I am a HUGE water drinker. Never once wanted for a refill. Nice to have a great Bistro in the suburbs instead of having to head downtown. Food is always good and so is the service.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the love of food and...What a delightful restaurant! It is a wonderful place for a warm conversation with my boyfriend. We also enjoyed the music {albeit Pandora - but great music selections) which enhanced the French-bistro ambiance. Also, we were very impressed when the attentive staff welcomed us back. We had been there once several weeks ago. It was a nice touch which combined with the creative menu moved this restaurant to the top of our list of our all time favorites.12/9/2012 12:00:00 AM
