We are Richmond's only French restaurant with a Parisian Chef/Owner and have won Richmond's Best Chef and Winner of Excellence in Service Award in 2013.

Our atmosphere is lively, modern chic, yet casual.

Our menu changes monthly, utilizing local, organic and sustainable ingredients.

Our classic Bistro fare includes: Steak frites, charcuterie, tartare, escargots, house made terrines/pate, seafood, salads, fish, game and meats. We are also proud of our expansive French wine list and our desserts made in-house.

  • "I really like this little place. The food is always interesting and delicious. The daily specials take advantage of fresh seasonal produce. You can make the prices what you want - the early bird and Thursday evening prix fixe menus are extremely reasonable. The waiters are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The only complaint from our party was the uncomfortable bistro chairs. The raised rim around the seat and the chair back that slopes away from the seat make them hard to sit in for the length of an enjoyable and leisurely dinner."

Visiting Richmond from out of town, we had to guess about where to dine, but the warm recommendations we found on Open Table were enthusiastically endorsed by the owner of the bread & breakfast where we stayed. We were hospitably greeted at the restaurant and were made to feel welcome the entire evening. The small space was reasonably full, but not overcrowded, and our fellow diners seemed to be an interesting cross-section of young and old. We are often grateful for even one good course, but starter, main, and dessert were all interesting and delicious here. Inventive and skilled cooking, and a cozy dining place for locals and out-of-towners alike."

  • "First time there. A wonderful evening with food and wine. We wanted sweetbreads, but they were out. The waiter checked with the chef and lo and behold, they found two orders which were wonderful. The waiter was exceptional, little noise, great dining music, and the food and wine terrific. Will go again. Thank you. John W. Pash. I was attending a dental course in Midlothian, Va. and there was another dentist there ( I did not know her). Saturday morning, I saw her and asked her if she was at Bistro Bobette Friday night and she said yes. She was from Blacksburg, Va."

  • "We went to this restaurant having made reservations and having checked the website to verify the menu only to be toldthat it as a prix fixe menu. After waiting 45 minutes after giving our order the owner ( I believe) came over in a rather disheveled manner to see how we liked our dinner and when we told her that we had yet to see dinner .we were surprised that there was only a set menu, she said if we did not like it we could go across the street .we were all from out of town, we assume this is so. The food, when it came was warmed over, a bit cool, and dried out. When we asked for bread we were told that there wasn't any but then the waiter came back and said he had found some in the basement but there was only one piece of butter,"

  • "I happened upon this gem of a restaurant for lunch the last time I was in Richmond with my husband. He had a business lunch at another restaurant, so took him back to Bistro Bobbette for dinner. We both agreed that it was where we wanted to go when we wre back this week. We are in Richmond often for business and have eaten in lots of very good restaurants, this is our favorite. There is something for everyone on the menu and the wine list is good and reasonable. The food is excellent French fare. The owners are from France and have not forgotten how French food is prepared, sometimes with a delightfully original touch."

There are several other restaurants in the area provide better food treatments and flavors. We will likely go to one of them before returning to Bistro."

  • "My wife and I went to the restaurant for our Valentines Day diner date. I had reservations for 9:00 pm. We didn't get seated until 9:20. No one came to update us as we stood uncomfortably as there is no designated waiting area. We were standing in front of a China cabinet and constantly had to shuffle when the staff wanted to access it. We were finally seated. The waiter came over and said, "We don't have bread, just wanted to get that out first". The waiter was abrupt and rude. We ordered from the set Valentines menu and we did not receive our appetizers until 10:20, a full hour after we were seated, and this was with a "set menu"! The food was just OK, but the service was horrible."

  • "From previous reviews, and looking over the menu, I really thought this would be a great place. I was a bit disappointed. Why the 2-star overall rating? The answer is there wasn't a rating for price. For 2 people with 1 cheapish drink each and the Valentine's Day special which included Soup or Salad, Entree and Dessert, my bill was almost $100 after decent tip. I went the day AFTER Valentine's Day which I chose on purpose trying to avoid the 'special' and craziness. That however was not the worst part. I can't relate everything in the space OpenTable gives so I'll try my best. Service was so-so, polite but 'new'. Food was not bad but not great, lacked flavor. Service & Food was like Applebees/TGIF/etc. Price was like Buckheads."

  • "My husband and I had a very nice Valentine's Day dinner here. It was on the next night, Saturday, and they had a fix price menu of $38.pp which included 3 courses (app., entree, and dessert). The portions are not huge but with 3 courses we felt that we got our money's worth. The serve was good, the place was busy and the food tasted delicious. We would recommend for a special occasion or a date night out. We will be returning."

  • "After making a reservation for Vday lunch, my partner and I were pleasantly surprised by a sweet corner table where we could share a booth side by side. We ordered the chickpea fritters as an appetizer and I ordered the rainbow trout, served in a beautiful lemon, butter, and almond drizzle. All of the pricing is reasonable and the food is exceptional."

  • "THE FOOD WAS WONDERFUL AND THE WAITER FRIENDLY, BUT WE WERE DISAPPOINTED THAT EVEN THOUGH WE SAID AT THE VERY BEGINNING THAT WE WERE GOING TO THE SYMPHONY OUR WAITER DID NOT COOPERATE AND BRING THE BILL QUICKLY.   • "My wife and I made a reservation for Friday night. We had a wonderful table and the menu did not disappoint. My wife had the escargot and I had the oysters on the half shell. For dinner we had the tenderloins and the John Dory fish special. Both excellent. I love fish and the John Dory was incredible. Dessert was a chocolate feature that melted in your mouth. Overall nothing but praise and we will be back!!!"

However, all the vegetarian dishes we ordered for the Meatless 4 were not seasoned at all. All bland overall. We found ourselves using the salt shaker a lot."

  • "Seldom do local Richmond restaurants have true, professional service; many try to, no doubt, but fall short. Bistro Bobette refreshingly trained their wait staff well--not too chatty, knew the menu well (our waitress reeled off about 6-8 specials from memory without notes and quite a few items within the special), how the items were prepared, and were present but not there except when needed, which was never because her timing was spot on. The wait staff filled the water class properly (not all the way up to the top, but about an inch from the top of the glass--the correct fill!--a pet-peeve of mine), did not come back time and time again to ask if "everything ok?" and even used the crumb scraper. Not too much food, thank goodness!"

  • "As regulars (and this our usual Xmas Eve haunt), we were extremely disappointed. We were told by the owner when we arrived (5 minutes before our reservation) that they were running behind. We waited over 30 minutes at the bar before being seated. The owner made light of the fact that something was amiss that night and dealt with the dysfunction in a totally unprofessional way, making a joke out of the situation. Once seated, we didn't see our waitress for 45 minutes. Good food might have saved the evening, but it was not to be. My duck breast was tough and bland and my partner's fish mediocre. At over $30 a plate, this is absurd. A complimentary bottle of wine or dessert goes a long way. Unfortunately, neither was offered."

  • "My friend and I really enjoyed our visit. The server (John) was very good and knew what he was doing. The location and decor were really nice. This is the perfect place for a date or even a small business meeting. Conversations could be had without yelling at each other. The cuisine was very good from our cheese course through dessert. It is what you would expect for a restaurant at this level. If I had to pick things I noticed that weren't great: 1) The cheese course took close to 20 minutes - too long but all the cheese was fantastic 2) my trout was good but the taste of lemon was almost overpowering. Overall, I would definitely go back!"

Much to my surprise the Sole was $45. One would think in a restaurant of this caliber that a special that is priced 40% above the rest of the menu would be shared with the diner."

  • "Went here for New Year's Eve. It was very adult and classy. Excellent service, tasty vittles. This is a great place to eat and it deserves a much wider audience in Richmond. Especially in terms of attitude and service. Which makes an incident at the end of the evening worth commenting on. The owner, an edgy French woman, began openly "encouraging" diners who had not been there more than 90 minutes to leave quickly so she could seat others. OK, how you do this, lady, is you comp dessert or a cordial with a chipper Bonne Annee! You don't hustle folks who have just spent $200-300 on dinner out the freaking door. Maybe she could just stay in the back and let the staff work their magic. Otherwise, a good evening."

The restaurant boasts a fabulous wine list, amazing seasonal fair that will satisfy even the most fincky foodie from the larger cities that may be visiting, and the overall feel for the restaurant is quant yet has a manageable sophistication. Not too pompous just comfortable enough....and the food and service is impeccible. They never rush you and they are always welcoming."

  • "Wasn't really sure what to expect, but had heard good things about the restaurant. We started with escargot which was good, but not amazing. However the rest of the meal was probably the best that I have had in Richmond in the last 3 years (we eat out about once a week). I had the beef stew with truffle mac and cheese and it was amazing. My date had the beef tenderloin medallions with potatoes au gratin. They were both some of the best I have ever had. We gave the service four stars, not because it wasn't excellent. It was, but it does come with a little french snootiness. But to be honest that added to the experience."
