Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)Like a party in LyonI would have said Paris, but the staff was friendly, not snooty. We had a marvelous evening at Bistro Bobette. The cocktails were refreshing, not sweet. We really enjoyed talking to the manager and bartender (we're from DC and the chef ran Lavandou for many years). The food - charcuterie plate, rabbit stew, halibut steak, creme brûlée - was some of the best we've ever had. The tables around us were talking moral philosophy, travel and singing. Great, romantic, fun, sophisticated evening! We'll be traveling back to Richmond to return.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We took the opportunity to try Bistro Bobette during restaurant week 2013 and found the fixed price menu to have a variety of choices. My husband had the flounder which was delicious while I had the shrimp risotto, also delicious although I thought the risotto was slightly undercooked. Our waiter was quite helpful and attentive. We would definitely return to Bistro Bobette in the future.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal, great place. We are picky foodies, and really loved Bistro Bobette. The waiter was knowledgeable and not too friendly or cloying. The food was fresh, well-balanced and came out of the kitchen with proper pacing. The vibe is elegant without any pretense. We are looking forward to our next visit. Mondays offer no corkage fee and tuesdays have a vegetarian price fixe.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding rustic FrenchOutstanding rustic French food. Not pretentious, real food. Quality ingredients superbly prepared. Wine list is a bit overpriced, but the selections are excellent. The corkage fee is also excessive. Overall, the dining experience is worth the price. If you're on a budget and want terrific Provencal food, bring your own wine on Monday night when the corkage fee is waived.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed another deliciousEnjoyed another delicious dinner here with my husband. The service is great, the food is delicious and the authentic french food is worth the visit. Highly recommend.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect dinner! We went earlyPerfect dinner! We went early before the Richmond Symphony performance, just as the St. Pat's Day madness began to coalesce in Shokoe Slip.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHad dinner here with my fiancéeHad dinner here with my fiancée last Friday night and had a wonderful time. The food was absolutely incredible, the atmosphere was great, and the service was impeccable. Our waiter, John (I believe) was the perfect balance of being attentive but not intrusive, really making for a wonderful evening. For appetizers we had the olives, the cheese plate, and the escargots. All were delicious, and the escargots was especially delightful. For the main course, I had the lamb medallions which I would certainly go back for.
I could not recommend this place highly enough.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding, as always.Brought business associates to Bobette for lunch. Great spot for a meeting. Service outstanding, spot on. Derek was professional and attentive.
Clients were blown away by the food. Tuna tartare, best they have had. Beet salad big hit.
Sauteed flounder amazing!
Homemade desserts well, they could not understand how the Chef did it!.
Been there very often, but it was a pleasure to introduce new people to this gem of a restaurant.3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in RichmondI lived in NYC for 11 years and now reside outside of DC. My husband and I went to Richmond for a long weekend getaway after his return from an 8th month deployment in Afghanistan. We found Bistro Bobette and I was pleasantly surprised. I made a special request for our dinner and they graciously accommodated, making it a very memorable evening for us celebrating my husband's safe return. The decor is chic and very New York. Being a foody, the menu was impressive. We were very pleased with our apps/entrees and wine. Better food than some of the bistro's in NYC and Paris I have visited. The owner and staff are professional, courteous, and warm. We will definitely revisit when back in Richmond!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food and drink,Fantastic food and drink, great service, a wonderful experience. A bit crowded and the table are close together, but not an issue.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my third dinner here:This was my third dinner here: first with a group of 15, a wonderful intimate dinner with my wife and one with a friend. Standard menu provides excellent variety and specials offer great suprises - truly French local with awesome desserts. Family owned, friendly management and staff.Service is elegant. A small gem in a busy city.2/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic - start to finishFantastic - start to finish - transported back to Paris sans the uppity attitude! Food, Service, Ambience - Superb! Just go - experience - thank me later!2/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as usual!!! Love thisGreat as usual!!! Love this place....The owners wife is so sweet and her husband is the French Chef that prepares the delicious meal. Well worth the trip. Not inexpensive but worth every penny!!! We will be returning:)1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDate night gemEnjoyed the duck but the highlight of the evening was a wonderful pheasant special with a lovely juniper sauce in vegetables. Warm bread and recommended white wine topped off the meal. Neighboring table was a bit loud for this small restaurant.
(Who really discusses the merits of Chick Fillet at a French restaurant?). Richard was an attentive waitstaff and enjoyed
Meeting Wendy and discussed upcoming events we will not want to miss. Overall, an enjoyable experience. We will be back.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat authentic French foodThis is the third time we have eaten here (the first time we found it by chance) and we always try to stop in while in Richmond. Of all places I never expected Richmond to have such an amazing and authentic French restaurant but this place takes the Gateau! I would not recommend eating here if you are very picky about your food or you don't like trying new things. This is a place you should go when you want to have a very nice evening (or lunch) out and you want to try out some new flavours and leave your stomach in the hands of the chef.1/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Outstanding!!!BB never disappoints!! Without question , best restaurant in Richmond and beyond.
French Chef delivers excellence time and time again.
Can't wait to return.1/7/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbeatablePerhaps the best restaurant in Richmond right now. Attentive service and creative upscale French bistro menu. Quality of ingredients couldn't be higher. Love the place.12/25/2012 12:00:00 AMMichelin in Richmond! This restaurant is an absolute gem...We dined on butternut squash soup, fois gras, escargot, sweetbreads, beef tenderloin and dover sole with creme brulee for desert...A five star meal and more than worth the expense..I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys excellent French cuisine.12/25/2012 12:00:00 AMQuite possibly the best mealQuite possibly the best meal I have ever had in Richmond. The staff here is amazing and know their menu well! We sampled three different appetizers all of which were fabulous! The goat cheese Crostini was my favorite but the hearts of palm were a close second! The Bistro steak was the most tender steak I have had. I will go back again and again for this! The lamb and trout my friends ordered were also met with high praise! The Crème Brulee for dessert was just perfect! The only negative thing I could say was I was a bit confused when I entered the restaurant, as the first one there the décor made me wonder if I had come in the wrong door or perhaps need to go grab a towel and a bar of soap. The dining area however was beautiful!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Bistro BobetteWe have been to Bistro Bobette before and the service is always great, as is the food! The owners are very nice and greet their customers and stop by the table throughout the evening. This visit was during restaurant week so it was more crowded than usual but the food was still excellent. They also have great specialty cocktails.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible restaurant in Richmond.Incredible restaurant in Richmond. Wine list is truly impressive and the food is incredible. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, we all 3 hadWonderful food, we all 3 had the daube, a traditional French winter stew, and great service.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a place to be transportedThis is a place to be transported over to a small street in Lyon - where sweetbreads, country pate, and cornichons are on your mind. French comfort food, with a twist. Beef stew over truffled macaroni and cheese, Steak and Pommes Frites - all delicious! The country pate was excellent. Unfortunately, they ran out of vanilla ice cream - no profiteroles tonight...
This was our preamble to the French film festival - and it set us up perfectly! Wendy and the staff are attentive with the front of the house. Had guests in from New York, they loved it...3/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
