  • "This was our first time for brunch at Bistro Blanc. The restaurant was quiet - perfect for conversations. The service was attentive and timely without being intrusive. The menu provides an interesting array of choices which we have come to expect and love at Bistro Blanc. We highly recommend both the Duck Leg Confit and the Citrus BBQ Gateau in the more savory choices and the Croissant French Toast at the sweeter end of the spectrum. We shall definitely be back soon for brunch!!!"

  • "Thought the reviews were good, we were very disappointed with the restaurant. We took my visiting daughter and her boyfriend out for a special meal. The service was incredibly slow with even getting rolls taking 20 minutes or more and we were charged $4 for rolls that were just ok. After waiting and waiting for our main course we were finally told our dinners were being plated. Then we still had to wait another 10 minutes. With slow service, very small serving sizes and high prices I don't think we will be going back. This restaurant seems to be in love with itself and it's self proclaimed farm to table gourmet image. However the reality of the food quality is that it was good but not that good. Better start paying attention to the basics!"

  • "This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it was quite the charmer. We went for a romantic date and was very pleased with the entire experience. The food is more tapas style as the plate sizes were smaller. This however, was not a detraction from the experience. Because the flavor of the food was so bountiful - small plate sizes work best. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get a way from the chain restaurants for a wonderful meal and experience."

  • "Went to Open Table to treat my husband to a Father's Day lunch. Took a long time before someone showed up to provide water. Longer to meet the server to take our order. He revealed staffing was not at an optimum level for the number of customers. Someone tried to serve us food we had not ordered. When we did get our order, it was hot and delicious. We had to request empty glasses to be removed from the table to provide more room (tables very small for 2 people). We will chalk it up to the restaurant not being adequately prepared for Father's Day."

There was a tornado watch and so the outdoor seating was closed, otherwise it looks like it would be nice to sit on the patio. We hope to come back again."

  • "The restaurant was pretty empty, but the hostess sat us at the WORST table (small, by the computer and next to the exit door to patio). When our waitress arrived, we asked if we could change tables and she said "Absolutely." We moved to a larger, better located table. We could not understand why, since we had a reservation and the restaurant was empty, the hostess first sat us at the worst table."

  • "We always enjoy dinner at Bistro Blanc. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable without being intrusive. The atmosphere is pleasant and the noise level low making conversation easy. The Pfefferkorn Road was an interesting take on the traditional rum and fruit drink with complex and pleasing flavors. The chilled corn soup was an excellent and refreshing start to the meal. The crab empanadas and Korean rice cakes from the Summer menu were very good. The Brisket and Arctic Char entrees from the days specials both exemplified the complex flavors and excellent techniques that we have come to expect from Bistro Blanc. We finished off with the Plum Trifle - Try this it was excellent and the banana foster bread pudding an old standard."

  • "We went to Bistro Blanc on a Wednesday night for the half priced burgers and beer special. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. We started with the $4 bread plate which included 6 warm, homemade rolls and 3 dips. The beef in the burgers was local, from a farm just down the road. The fries were hand cut, not too thin, and delicious, with a sprinkling of rosemary and parmesan. They had a good selection of beers, including several locally brewed brands. I enjoyed the local Duck Pin Ale, brewed in Baltimore. Overall, a good dinner. We will definitely go back."

  • "We dined at Bistro Blanc on a busy Saturday evening in May. Service was good (our server was new) and the food was excellent. We started with a corn chowder and Caesar salad. The chowder was complex and flavorful and the salad crisp and tangy. Our entrees consisted of rockfish and lamb, both of which were plated artfully and cooked to perfection. The accompanying vegetables and forbidden rice were also very good. When you go to Bistro Blanc, make sure you talk to Andy, the bartender. We always ask him for his menu recommendations and he has never steered us wrong. "

  • "Bistro Blanc used to be a pretty good option for Howard County dining - although it never produced fully "great" meals, it did turn out some reliably decent ones. We recently returned after not having dined there in several months and the place has really gone downhill. The menu has hardly changed, so everything seemed very trite. A flatbread pizza was drowned in grease and a very unappealingly green sauce. The waiter was a befuddled (although pleasant) guy. Patio dining presents a full view of a dumpster. On a Friday evening at prime dining time, the place was half-empty and it was easy to see why. We will not return."

  • "The food is delicious, but the real gem is the ENOMATIC wine dispenser. I should mention that this is a self-dispensing machine, which means that YOU choose how much wine you will be pouring into the glass and consuming. Be careful! While the prices are clearly displayed on the display above the dispenser, it is easy to justify a million 1oz "tastes"...only to find that you spent a million dollars on wine! The service is fantastic. The servers are so knowledgable and helpful. We even receive some free samples!"

  • "Bistro Blanc is one of our favorite restaurants. The chef is obviously passionate about food and food presentation. Everything is always fresh and intersting and prepared perfectly. The menu ranges from lighter fare (they have a wonderful lamb burger) to regular dinner entrees. The service can be inconsistent but the servers are ALWAYS friendly. The restaurant is located in what used to be a liquor store and you can still buy alcohol there. If you want a bottle of wine you can choose it off the shelf for your table or buy it and take it home. There is a 25% discount if you want to buy a bottle to take away. We highly recommend Bistro Blanc. "

  • "I waited about 75 minutes from the time I was seated until the time I got my main entree. I think the place is a little hit or miss with the food. There were some interesting things on the menu, for sure. I ended up getting their take on a "Bolognese." The flavor was good, but the sauce was salty and extremely fatty. It would have been a good topping as a slight amount of gravy on a slab of beef, but totally inappropriate for a pasta sauce. I would recommend going for a very early dinner, and it might be interesting -- but going later means waiting forever."

  • "We have eaten at Bistro Blanc several times. Mostly we find it expensive but not unreasonable. However our dinner this week makes us pause about returning. The kitchen has always been SLOW. This time in a half empty Resturant it took 2+ hours to dine. Unacceptable and the slow pacing kills the enjoyment of the meal. Plus the runners are poorly trained. Every course they delivered to our two top they severd to the wrong person. Refilling our purchased Sparling water was hit and miss. One time the runner ever knocked my watch off as she grabbed a plate. The hostess should also be critiqued for seating a loud party of 4 directly on top of us in a half empty Resturant. Within 5 minutes we had to ask to be moved. "

  • "We've been visiting Bistro Blanc regularly for 3-4 years now and it continues to impress us. We aren't "groupie" type people so we look for excuses to go other places but every dining experience is exceptional. The food is always outstanding, we used to get disappointment as they cycled the menu because our favorites would be gone - but they seem to replace them with equally good delights that force us to grow in our palate and experience. The wine has always been fantastic, but have you tried the mixed drinks lately or had Jeremy or Andy whip up something for you? Amazing - they have game in that department too! Overall an amazing restaurant."

If we went back it would be for the food, which was very good and priced OK. Overall for a nice special occasion dinner nothing beats Tersiguels in Ellicott City which is around the same price but much better."

  • "My wife and I LOVE this neighborhood restaurant, but boy, did we we have a bad night. We came the night after Valentine's Day on a Saturday night. We were seated near the door, and it got really cold every time the door opened, and the server and hostess declined to move us when we asked. We were cold and uncomfortable. The place got really busy and whatever waiter was available brought me my soup but left before i could ask for a spoon, By the time I could flag down another server for a spoon, my soup had cooled to room temperature. The entrees were good, but usually they are really excellent. I am sure we will get over it because we love this place, but it was not an experience that would inspire a return."
