Diner Reviews
  • "This time I had the wild mushroom risotto and it was very good. We started off with a special flatbread, which was unique but quite tasty. (Featured lots of greens) Service is always great "

  • "We've been visiting Bistro Blanc regularly for 3-4 years now and it continues to impress us. We aren't "groupie" type people so we look for excuses to go other places but every dining experience is exceptional. The food is always outstanding, we used to get disappointment as they cycled the menu because our favorites would be gone - but they seem to replace them with equally good delights that force us to grow in our palate and experience. The wine has always been fantastic, but have you tried the mixed drinks lately or had Jeremy or Andy whip up something for you? Amazing - they have game in that department too! Overall an amazing restaurant."

  • "First time at the restaurant and just loved it - both for the ambience and also for the food and wine. We had the duck and it was good but not as great as I thought it would be, did not have a lot of taste. We will be back."

  • "Food was wonderful and the wine list is sizable. The service was awful. The self serve wine dispenser is an absolute rip off unless you think that $29 a glass is a good deal. If we went back it would be for the food, which was very good and priced OK. Overall for a nice special occasion dinner nothing beats Tersiguels in Ellicott City which is around the same price but much better."

  • "My wife and I LOVE this neighborhood restaurant, but boy, did we we have a bad night. We came the night after Valentine's Day on a Saturday night. We were seated near the door, and it got really cold every time the door opened, and the server and hostess declined to move us when we asked. We were cold and uncomfortable. The place got really busy and whatever waiter was available brought me my soup but left before i could ask for a spoon, By the time I could flag down another server for a spoon, my soup had cooled to room temperature. The entrees were good, but usually they are really excellent. I am sure we will get over it because we love this place, but it was not an experience that would inspire a return."

  • "Thanks to Raj, the owner, and the new chef, the re-introduced happy hour with delicious small plates and discounted drinks, our evening stretched to a delicious dinner with 2 great friends who had never been to this neighborhood gem of a restaurant! They loved it also!"

  • "Apparently Friday Brunch has not caught on at Bistro Blanc as only three tables were used the entire time we were there. Food was innovative and good, but too pricey to recommend. We would return for dinner occasionally, but not for brunch."

  • "We made late plans to head out to Bistro Blanc to celebrate our 26th weeding anniversary with two of our best friends. Our server, Warren, was exceptionally nice and had the qualities you look for in a food waiter, namely a very good sense of timing and accommodation to the customer's needs. The wine list is extensive and we found a very nice Shirz to enjoy with our meal. The salads were very fresh and the chilled sweet potato soup with Granny Smith apples was to die for. Then came the outstanding rockfish entree that had every quality I look for in fish preparation. It was cooked to perfection, was extremely flavorful, and had the wonderful surprise of a spectacular ebony rice. The Grenache dessert was a perfect ending to the meal."

  • "We both had the pasta bolognese. It was such a treat since we've been avoiding pasta and bread, etc.. The pasta was unique in that it had a hole through the middle and it gives it a great texture. Some new menu items"

  • "I ordered the scallops as an entree. It was very good but 2 scallops is a quite under the usual amount served elsewhere. No it was NOT part of the small plate menu."

  • "I prefer traditional lunch choices over the brunch offerings. Our waiter must have been 'off' that day because he lacked attention to the details, did not ask if our food was acceptable and had to be tracked down to pay. The food we had was tasty, so I hope this day was just an anomaly."

  • "Delicious food, great service, and peaceful atmosphere. The only thing I must criticize are the abstract paintings that are currently up on the walls. The abstract painting of these faceless women remind me of a living nightmare that replays every second as I bite into my meal. There tends to be a somber yet eerie feeling the paintings convey...it feels as if the faceless characters are watching you eat considering they have no eyes, only implied. It made me feel cornered and nervous while visually entering into a dream state that I could not distinguish whether this was reality or a figment of my imagination. Other than that, the place is AWESOME and I would recommend to anyone who appreciates fine dining!"

  • "I have had dinner a few times and the service always remember me and ensures that I am taken care of. Its a good feeling knowing that others remember you and want you to have a pleasant experience, not to mention the food is great! I had two entrees! :)"

  • "First time at Bistro Blanc. Wonderful service, very accomodating host. The food was delicious - both appetizers and entrees. Very nice wine selection, and we enjoyed our bottle. Tables are far enough apart that you don't feel you are evesdropping on the table next to you. Overall, great choice for our party of four. We plan to come back - the outside dining looked as if it would be lovely. We will be back in warmer weather to try it out."

  • "We had heard about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It's in a strip center in rural howard county. The cocktails were fantastic....I had a cosmo blanc with white cranberry juice and my husband had a "dark and stormy" made with ginger beer which was also very good. The Bistro Steak was delicious.....steak sliced thin over mac and cheese risotto...Yummy. We didn't try the desserts but they looked delicious. We'll be back!"

  • "Food was average. Wednesday is half price burger & beer night but they only offer 2 burgers on the menu. Both were very salty. Server was stiff and bothered when a question was asked."

  • "A nice fine dining restaurant. Very pleased with the food and ambiance. Only complaint is we felt a bit rushed for the fine dining experience prices."

  • "such a great experience. so nice to have had great service, food and atmosphere -- the basic but necessary components for an enjoyable night out for dinner. you might not expect to find it in a strip mall located restaurant but you will be pleasantly surprised, it has charm! we like restaurants with casual, unpretentious service and quality food in a cool atmosphere ... bistro blanc has it. looking forward to taking some friends here to share the experience again."

  • "My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to thoroughly enjoy our dining experience at Bistro Blanc. This the first time we had dined here. The food was presented beautifully and our meals were seasoned and flavored to perfection. As the snow began to fall, we felt the romance and savored the view of looking out the window of the restaurant, as the candlelight flickered on our dinner table. We will be back as soon as possible!"

  • "Normally we're here on half price wine night.....this time we lucked in to half price burger night. They were excellent...plump, juicy and delicious. We're trying not to eat the carbs, but the fries are just too good."

  • "I've been here multiple times with both husband and family/friends. Always a pleasure. The waitstaff is friendly and very knowledgeable. They have a great wine selection- including tastings. They have a full bar with some interesting suggestions on their menu. They source their food locally and it is always delicious. I wish they would put the Brussels sprouts permanently on the menu (they have a small steady menu complemented by the specials which are amazing). Try the Lamb Burger and if the 72 Short Ribs are on the menu- they are super yummy. The bread plate is extra, but it is delicious and worth it!"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the specials: Blonde Mole soup, grilled brussel sprouts and rockfish. Also had the duck entree. For desert the apple struedel and creme caramel. Tried the house made Limoncello. All the dishes were prepared and presented with meticulous attention and were definitely in the "pretty food" category. The appetizers were unique to us and the tastes were quite good. The entrees were presented differently than normally experienced and were full of flavors, textures and colors. The deserts were the perfect size and seemed to be perfectly cooked, crispy and hot. Looking forward to returning."

  • "We've been to Bistro Blanc twice in the past month and it has been a little off. In February, one in our party ordered Huevos Rancheros flatbread, and the eggs were stone cold. On our most recent visit, on a Thursday in March, they were out of two of the specials, chicken and short ribs, both of which would have appealed. They explained that with the weekend coming they were stocking up. What's that got to do with it? (We wondered if they even had them that night when they were gone by 7PM when there was a small crowd) The service has been good on all recent visits. We go here about 6 to 8 times per year, but I wish they'd focus a bit more on making the food choices broader and, despite beautiful presentation, a better experience."

  • "Bistro Blanc delivers excellent food and wine in a pleasant atmosphere with good service time after time. This is one of our go to restaurants for fine dining. The Foie Gras and Oyster appetizers were a very nice start to the meal. The 48 hour korean BBQ ribs were excellent - melt in your mouth and very flavorful. The braised lamb shank was its equal tender lamb falling off the bone. We finished off the meal with Bread pudding and poached pears and recommend both. Wines from the enomatic provided excellent pairs for all courses. Highly recommended!"

  • "We moved to Howard County recently (from Chicago) and were so thrilled to find Bistro Blanc. The food is delicious and the portions are perfect. We've had excellent service and our waiters have been very good at recommending delicious wines. We've even found a couple bottles that we later searched out for purchase. I've loved the Grilled Brie starter (which is great to share) and the Short Ribs are to die for. The staff is friendly and parking is easy. An all around winner."

  • "We were at Bistro Blanc for Valentines day - was super crowded so tables were close together. For appetizers, we had lobster soup which was watery and brussel sprouts which turned out to be a surprise winner. For entrees, we both had the short ribs which were very good. For dessert, we had the "donuts" and the terrine - both were good. The staff was busy so seemed pre-occupied and robotic. Overall a middle of the road experience."

  • "The ambience was lovely with dim lighting, dark walls, and accented art. The food was extremely delicious and memorable! I had the lamb burger and it was perfect. We shared a chocolate/ice cream/ ganache for dessert that was incredible. We will definitely return."

  • "Great food and service. Special acknowledgement to server Christine. Louise's filet mignon was done perfectly, and the lobster bisque I had was superb. Portabella mushroom flat bread was delicious and just the right amount. For desert I had the "death by chocolate" offering and Louise had the apple dish. Both were top drawer. Would definitely go there again and would strongly recommend to others."

  • "Cocktails, appetizers, desserts very good. Entrees were poor. Rockfish and 72 hour short rib were bad. Coffee was very weak. Short rib was not the typical preparation. It was rare, not tender, had a game tasting finish. We would have thought it was another animal and not beef. Fish tasted old, and had bizarre smoked fish flakes on it that I buy in the pet store as treats for my cat! Would not recommend going on a holiday."

  • "We've dined numerous times here for years and it is one of our favorite restaurants, with a tasteful, cozy dining area, inventive menu, local ingredients, and great service. Lately, though, we've noticed the food isn't quite as good as remembered. Still love it for all its other qualities, and if nothing on the menu appeals, a safe bet is always the burger (fries are outstanding, best anywhere). Wonder if the chef is going through a bit of a dry spell. Service remains excellent as always (although this last time I saw one of the staff rub his nose with his hand and then a minute later was holding my plate while bringing the order out from the kitchen. At least, please don't do it in view of the patrons; better yet, don't do it at all.)"

  • "Never been to a place that can pull off a half-price burger night and at the same time be putting out a delicious sous vide flank steak entree. Bistro Blanc doesn't even need great servers to sell the food, the food sells itself. Great ideas and great execution."
