  • "Wow, great new menu!! The food and service were fantastic ! Great live entertainment. Thank you Chad! and Chef Zeke and staff !"

  • "Bistro Aix has been one of our favorites since it opened 10 years ago. Great food, great drinks, and great atmosphere. We will be coming back soon. I can wholeheartedly recommend it."

  • "we were a party of six and were all pretty happy with all our food. ambiance was a bit noisy (hard to talk to each other) but still hip and vibrant. escargot was my favorite, i could probably order 5 of this and will be happy with just that and bread. filet was also very good and enjoyed every bit to the last bite. wish there was a pear martini ( i used to get the best peartini from them a long time ago) to complete my dining experience with Bistro Aix. Overall, highly recommend to anyone."

  • "Our visit to the vaunted Bistro Aix in the primetime of Saturday night was interesting as the noisy venue was at least nearly full and I could see all of the management fully engaged in making things work. Our orders were well taken, but the kitchen fell short when the huge steak we ordered came out uneven and darker than my cabernet, though we requested medium cooking and not still kicking...when it came back, there was only 70% of the original steak....still, it was vastly improved in taste. I could tell the kitchen's intent was good and the management did the right things to help make up for the 4th place finish. I will likely return to try the place again."

  • "When reservations were made for a birthday lunch on open table, I had entered a note asking whether our group would be able to bring our own cake. At other restaurants, I have always received a call re: any requests - but not this type. When our 9 group arrived, we were told (not very nicely by the way) there would be a $2.50 plate fee for each person. The girl working the front did not try to ask a manager or even try to be accomodating. We all had previously been to Bistro Aix (and experienced other problems) but this by the far was the most disappointing. Needless to stay, the office won't be back and I will never book an event/meeting at Bistro Aix."

  • "Now that the restaurant is happily under new ownership, I was really looking forward to returning, since, wow 3 years. Not only was I not disappointed but under Chef Ian's leadership, the food is better than ever ! The roast chicken, vegie and salmon pizza, escargot, bone marrow, mahi mahi sandwich: all sublime perfectly cooked and great service."

  • "Food was great. Fun menu. The service is outstanding."

  • "Make one - this is a popular place! The entire dinner experience was wonderful with one exception. I ordered a filet mignon - medium and it was too raw - I should have sent it back but I chose not to due to the size of my dinner party. Service was great, food as a whole was excellent. Rather noisy so if you want a quiet place this is not he one for you."

  • "Dinner was average at best, service lacked. Aix is getting long in the tooth."

  • "Parents came into town for a visit and we decided to try Bistro AIX since none of us had ever been. The food was delicious and the service was spectacular.Definitely will be back!"

  • "Went here for dinner with 3 friends. 3 if the 4 main courses came out cold, nit even warm. That was disappointing b/c the taste was good."

  • "Bistro Aix has a great ambiance and great service, their food and menu is good but in my opinion not on par with their competitors (Tavera, Orsay, Blacksheep...) I believe they recently got bought out so I'm hoping that the new owners, who also own Ovinte, will revisit the menu and make some changes."

  • "This place had fantastic food, and the service was fast, almost too fast. Sat down and was done 30 min later. Recommended as a gluten free friendly place, and while it does have a few gluten free dishes, those that aren't can't be modified. Otherwise I would completely recommend it."

  • "I have eaten a number of times at Bistro Aix and I was surprised about my recent lunch experience. Now I understand that lunch time is a busy time, but I wasn't particularly impressed with our server. I don't remember him introducing himself. He didn't write down our orders (there were 5 of us). So my drink and my lunch was incorrect. (Coke zero no ice-- I got ice...ok not a big deal. I ordered the margherita pizza with pepperoni...I got no pepperoni). I would have mentioned this to our server, however, we only stopped once to drop off the check. Our drinks were refilled once by someone else. At this point, I was hungry and we had to get back to the office. I still love eating there, but will think twice about going during lunch."

  • "Much better than our last visit and anxious to see what new ownership does."

  • "The beet salad was delicious and I usually don't choose a pineapple dessert, but the pineapple up side down cake was so palate pleasing I'd recommend it to everyone!!!"

  • "The area is not particularly great, but the interior of the restaurant is nice, and the food is great. It's expensive, so you're really looking for perfection on everything, and it comes pretty close. It wasn't too loud to have comfortable conversations, and the service was perfect. They happily let one of us switch a side item, and they were attentive but not intrusive. We came pretty early (6:30 pm), and the food came out very quickly. We didn't get drinks, but it looked like there was a great selection. And although it's expensive, there are some cheaper options (pizzas, sandwiches) as well. Overall I'd say it's one of the best fine dining options in Jacksonville."

  • "Menu is creative with many options for those of varying tastes. You cannot go wrong with any entree or salad. Desserts are excellent and the wine/drink menu extensive. The service is always wonderful."

  • "Bistro Aix is a great place to dine in the San Marco area, its one of my favorite places to go along with bb's and Taverna. Bistro Aix tends to have a grilled tuna option that the other establishments often don't have as an item on their menu, so that's usually my go-to choice. My wife and I also think they have some great cocktails, and will go there just to grab a drink on occasion."

  • "Always enjoy this restaurant. Good lunch, a little pricey but worth it for a business meeting or special occasion."
    Dined on 7/9/2014
  • "For the price, the food was just ok to me and the 3 other people in my party. I will probably try this place again to see if this was just an off night."

  • "My boyfriend and I are here on a Thursday night and were very impressed with the food quality & service. Our server, Blaise, made the evening unique & memorable. I highly recommend the escargot appetizer and the grilled lamb entree. We will definitely be coming back!"

  • "I have no problem paying good money for excellent food. Sorely disappointing!"

  • "I have eaten at Bistro Aix many, many times over the years. On this most recent trip, we had the best waiter we've ever had. He was extremely informative and quick to make menu recommendations. It is rare in Jacksonville to have a server with so much product knowledge. While many people regard Bistro Aix as a fancier, destination spot, I love it for its smoky tomato soup, salads, and pizza. For me, it works great as a casual spot."

  • "It was my wife's birthday and a friend took her there. They were both very pleased with the food, but most of all they were extremely pleased with the service."

  • "It was our anniversary and our first time there. The food was quite good. A bit noisy and service a little slow, but we would go back. We had a nice evening"

  • "Wonderful service and enthusiastic waiter. Arrived early and was seated promptly. Food was tasty and the dessert was divine. Banana s foster."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "We very much enjoyed the food at Bistro Aix, but we had one of the worst waiters ever. The mussels were excellent as was my husband's filet. Bananas Foster were great. We know that it was our waiter in particular that was terrible and not the norm, as we noted other tables getting excellent service. This waiter did not even belong at the local Chili's, much less a very nice restaurant. He did not ask if we wanted an appetizer when getting our drinks (we had to make him stay to take the order), didn't refill drinks or ask if we wanted more, and we had to ask him to clear obviously empty plates."

  • "I take many of my clients to this restaurant for lunch! Its always good, and in a convenient location to downtown!"
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Great place for business lunches/dinners, out of town guests and those you want to have an upscale experience."

  • "Our third trip back since the arrival of the new chef. Food was delicious. Service was lack luster. Timing was good, but we left feeling like we were a distraction to him. We'll definitely return, but this isn't our favorite spot any longer."
    Dined on 6/9/2014
  • "The food was absolutely delicious. We went for my birthday with a party of ten. Everyone left happy and we were all raving about each of our dishes. The restaurant was very accomodating for our large party and seated us very comfortably in a side nook that almost made it feel like a private space. The waiter was very attentive and informative about the menu options. The best part was the complimentary birthday chocolate brownie with ice cream. I was totally not expecting that from such a nice restaurant. And it was amazingly good. Everyone tried a bit and loved it."

  • "Went for my wife's birthday. We have been there before and it has always been good. Both my wife and I consider ourselves to be educated foodies and found the wait staff to be knowledgeable and professional. We started with the warm olives medley as an app. For an entrree I had the Steak Frites, which was spot on and my wife had the Fish Aixoise (catch of the day) which was also excellent. We finished with the bananas foster (2 spoons) Wine list was also excellent. Will be back again and again and again>"

  • " Food here is thoughtful and freshly prepared on site. I appreciated the variety of menu options. You can eat light or enjoy an entree that is truly gourmet. "
    Dined on 6/4/2014
  • "This was our first visit. The food was truly outstanding and the service was even better. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and offered outstanding recommendations. But the noise level was so incredibly high, that we could barely speak and be heard 2 feet away. Adding to the loud atmosphere, was the guitarist and percussion (which would have sounded great, if they didn't compete with the loud conversations. "

  • "I have always loved Aix. Today was a bust. Worst lunch ever. Hamburger too salty to eat. Since when do you cut a burger in half and call it two pattys? Med rare does not mean totally cooked all the way thru. Blue cheese chips served cold. Bananas foster? Really? If your going to call it by the classic name, do it right. Not your version of it. Barely warm bananas, definitely not caramelized. Sauce was so acidic from the lemon. Maybe teach the server to actually ask if you would like more water considering it is 98 degrees out and we were having wine with lunch. Not sure what is going on but between the menu changes and downgrade in service I won't be having $100 lunches for 2 here anymore. "

  • "I am torn over my Thursday dinner visit to Bistro AIX, with issues before I even got to the restaurant. Got a voice mail to confirm my reservation, but it required me to call back to confirm, rather than call if not coming. I did, but interesting that they had plenty of empty tables all night. Food was good, but kitchen and wait staff have timing and service issues. Our entrees arrived when we were still enjoying our appetizer. Waiter indicated that the kitchen has their own clock and the servers have to deliver while hot, no matter what. So, I had to choose between letting my entree get cold or finishing my soup while it was still hot. Shame that the quality of the food suffered in that situation, regardless of which choice I made. "
