Diner Reviews
  • "Hard to hear one another speak. Very loud. Not sure what can be done about this."

  • "Initial table was not acceptable for a business dinner. When we asked to be moved, we were placed at a table by the kitchen in an area which was very warm. The temperature fluctuated during the entire meal. Also, it took quite a while to receive our meal after ordering. A bottle of wine ordered, but not presented to the person who ordered it, resulting in receiving the wrong bottle. When the senior member of our party arrived back to the table, she was surprised to see that it was not the wine she ordered. When a bottle of wine is delivered to a table, it should always be presented to the individual who ordered the wine. Overall, although the food was good, the service was not what I expected."

  • "WoW! Pan Seared Flounder was fantastic, Josh (waiter) was excellent and the wine list is too! Live music from the adjacent Le Bar was Great (Chris Thomas) and the dance/social scene is vibrant. We will add this one to our list !"

  • "Having small children, my wife and I cherish the few times that we are able to carve out time for a date night. I requested a quiet table due to having poor hearing. We were extremely disappointed to be seated directly across from the server station. The noise was so severe that we could not hear each other. Fortunately we were able to get better seating after requesting a change. This is the second time we have received poor seating when reserving through open table. We had great service and did enjoy a nice meal after getting a new table."

  • "If you are looking for something out the box, not a chain/corporate owned restaurant this is the place! Excellent, food, service and atmosphere! We will be back!"

  • "Even though newer restaurants have stolen some of the thunder out of the Bistro Aix it still holds its own and with the new Le Bar lounge addition it takes it back to the top, the only thing that could be a little better is the food, it's still 5 star, but compared to other 5 stars it shines a little less. Overall an amazing spot!"

  • "Outstanding food. We have experienced Bisto Aix several times while visiting Jacksonville and are never disappointed."

  • "Now I remember why we don't go there. Food is very good, but noise level so loud that with three diners we were shouting at each other to carry on a basic conversation."

  • "My friend loved her birthday. It was her first time and I knew she wouldn't be disappointed."

  • "This is my wife and I's favorite restaurant in the city. We enjoy the atmosphere and the food is amazing. We went there for the first time on Valentines Day many years ago and it has become our go to place for a special occasion. Our Wedding rehearsal dinner was even held there!"

  • "Excellent meal and service when entertaining an important customer. Mondays seem to be a good day for this type of dinner given that it was not too hectic."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "The food was great, the wine as well. But we were truly impressed with the service and efficiency. Each course was timely and well timed, hardly missed a beat as we progressed from appetizer to salad to main course to dessert. Rarely have this type of experience."

  • "I ordered a special bottle of wine listed on the wine menu. After a delay of 15 minutes, I was told the wine was not available. I then ordered the tuna steak with a side order of spicy condiment. I was asked if horse radish would suffice. After agreeing, the waitress brought out some mild mayonnaise substitute. All in all, the main course ordered by the three members of our party was very good, but heightened with a marginal amount of side dishes. The noise level at this restaurant would certainly prevent me from returning. The Wine Cellar is a much better option for food and ambience."

  • "Bistro Aix is one of my favorite restaurants in Jacksonville. I love everything about it. I live at the beach and I drive 30 minutes to get there but it is worth it. I don't dine out very often, but this is where I go for a special evening."

  • "Have been there many times and never been disappointed. We have taken many friends here and have never been embarrassed afterwords. Will continue to be a loyal patron for sure."

  • "A friend and I came here for dinner before the theater. We were promptly waited on and the good service continued. We chose a wine that I was familiar with and I liked. The waitress suggested another one and I declined. When we ordered a second glass, we decided to try her suggestion. We did not like it so she took it away and brought us the original choice. I had not been to Aix for a while and had heard mixed reviews but we were very pleased overall. I had the grilled tuna and it was perfectly cooked, as were the accompaniments. My friend had the salmon with lentils and said the same. We would definitely go back."

  • "Bistro Aix is always a treat. We made reservations and were seated at a prime table by the window. Service was professional, efficient and friendly. Do not miss the mussels and fries!! We shared dessert - blondie with bourbon sauce and ice cream. Wine list is interesting and very reasonable. Restaurant appeals to locals as well as visitors. When in Jacksonville, do not miss Bistro Aix."

  • "2cd trip to this restauarant and was a little disappointed at our overall experience. Out of our favorite wine and my girl's meal was just ok......I do believe alot of the blame falls on our server who was less than avaerage for a restaurant that boasts quality."

  • "Bistro AIX is one of those restaurants my wife and I go to for a special night out. Haven't been here in about a year and the changes made during that time to the menu were startlingly disappointing. The menu now is very limited. The items on it run of the meal at top dollar. Chicken, steak, veggies, fish, a burger. I had he filet and it was competently prepared and presented. In other words, nothing special. Very disappointing we won't be back after years of recommending Bistro AIX as someplace special."

  • "Me and my date went here for the first time on Valentine's Day. It was truly amazing. Everything from the live music to the way they served water was spectacular. I like how they call the bill "the damage" and just enjoyed the liveliness of the place. If you're reading this, you really should check it out. I highly recommend it!"

  • "My wife and I have adult children and it is difficult to get everyone together for an evening out. So when that does occur, we want it to be a great evening. Bistro Aix was the perfect place to go. We had great food, service and the staff was truly glad to serve us and was appreciative of our business."

  • "Waiter was excellent. Food was very good. Only problem was that I requested a booth and was sat by the front door. It was chilly, so every time the door opened I got an arctic blast. I've sat at the same table before which I why I requested a booth."

  • "Bistro Aix is great! They were very accomodating when I had to change my reservation and the staff really looks after you. The milet mingon was the best steak I've ever had and the profiteroles were wonderful."

  • "The food was outstanding but the service was not what you'd expect at a top dining restaurant. Very slow service and you don't feel that you are being attended to. You sit there so long between service that you look at you watch a lot. Everyone was rather snobby and you are made to feel that they are above you. There are way too many tables in the small space. Other tables are right on top of you. As said, the food is great but if your looking for romance or a special setting, go somewhere else."

  • "I've heard about about this restaurant in the past and was really looking forward to a great meal. I didn't feel add if the quality of the ingredients were exceptional. I've had better meals at chain restaurants. The fish I had tasted as if it had been frozen. I've made better salsa at home. The dressing was straight from a jar. Fine dining pricing with drive thru quality."

  • "We reserved a table for two on Valentine's Day, right after we eloped. The service was slow despite the restaurant not being too full. The food was good -- but it wasn't the special experience we were hoping for. We waited a while to be greeted by a server and we waited over ten minutes to get our check. When we got our check in the cute little envelope, it was covered in brown soda."

  • "My wife and I had an excellent experience for a romantic dinner. Highly recommend. I was told by the staff the restaurant opens up a bar section and the noise level picks up in the later evening."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We were late to arrive. Even though we called and said we were going to be 15 minutes late we were 30 and they had given our table to someone else. They told us we could eat in the bar area where there was live entertainment. Cute, little table. Food was excellent and we love every bite. Just two complaints. We had to request bread, and this was Valentines day and everyone in the main dining room got chocolate covered strawberries but since we were in the bar area we were not offered or given them. A real happening place and a younger crowd. Ample parking in the rear."

  • "Went there for the first time and on valentine's day, we waited 45 mins for just our appetizers which were 2 crabcakes so by the time we got them we were starving. The waitress kept saying a few more minutes after 5 mins but it wasn't the case because they brought our food to another table idk how many times. The table right next to us came about 15-20 mins after us and they got their entrees before us. Just not a good first experience as well as on valentine's"

  • "I've been here about 4 times now. Under normal conditions Bistro Aix is amazing and would get five stars across the board. However, Valentine's day was not so great. The menu selections were boring and the quality of the food was about what I could make at home. I highly recommend it on a regular day. Don't go on holidays though because you will feel the place is over rated."

  • "Very good food; the service was attentive but on the slow side. The most objectionable element was the noise - it was very noisy. That is a common complaint about restaurants in Jacksonville. When dining with friends, you should be able to have a conversation without shouting to be heard."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "My wife and I were in town for a conference and chose to celebrate Valentine's Day at Bistro Aix based on excellent online reviews. The restaurant did not disappoint: a special menu for the occasion with a nice range of choices, very nice ambience, and attentive and efficient service despite a packed house. The appetizer crab cakes were superb."

  • "Even with Valentine crush we received subtle and attentive service. Although kitchen a bit slow, food was very good. Have been several times and never disappointed."

  • "I chose to take my girlfriend out for Valentine's Day to Bistro Aix. Neither of us had ever been there, but we had high expectations. Those expectations were met and exceeded. The food was all very rich and delicious, with the crab cakes and filet being my favorites. The wine list is as extensive as one should need, and we very much enjoyed our bottle. The service was great and our server was quite knowledgeable about all of the menu and wine list items. It was quite expensive, but that cost was evident in the quality. Bistro Aix is not a restaurant I could eat at frequenly, but that is only due to the cost. For special occasions, I strongly recommend you try Bistro Aix."
