Third time here with the wife. Her rib-eye with a shallot reduction sauce was very good. My steak was cooked perfectly - MED, but sauce had little or no pepper and was not the light brown sauce I am accustomed to, lacked the rich smooth texture I expect from a heavy cream based sauce (maybe half & half or milk based?). Next time, back to the based lamb - awesome. Excellent service - good wine suggestion.

It is nice to see the part-owner pitch in and help the wait staff serve & address customers' questions. I was unable to locate a Syrah on the very extensive wine list and our server, not being certain that one existed brought Chad Muncey over to discuss the merits of the 2 which I had been able to find. Our meal which we designed to be small portions was all well-prpared and delivered in a continuum that avoided unneccessary pauses. It was heartening to see a place as busy as Bistro Aix was that Sat. Night 'hit on all cylinders'.

For the fifth consecutive mid-November evening, my fiancée and I made our annual pilgrimage to San Marco (this time not a far hop for me) to have dinner at Bistro Aix. We were seated early and presented with an anniversary card signed by Bistro staffers (this was such a pleasant and most unexpected surprise that, as I discovered to my chagrin later, we left the card there -- unfortunate). We started with the classic bleu cheese chips that Bistro popularized and was the first food we ate together five years ago. My fiancée ordered the steak frites and the staff was very encouraging in allowing her to swap in asparagus, as we'd had potato chips earlier. I had grouper in the Aixoise sauce over a bed of polenta. First time having polenta, I am now a huge fan. We enjoyed dessert thoroughly, my date having traditional crème brulee and I opting for the chocolate glace. Bread, and refills of water and wine, were unobtrusive and swift. Five years, five perfect dinners and a foreseeable future of anniversary dates are planned. For my fiancée and I, the holidays really do not feel like they start until we have been to Bistro Aix. It is a testament to the former and current chefs, restauranteurs and staff that this San Marco favorite is the ONLY place we go for an anniversary dinner, and it is the ONLY place we intend to go in the future.

Like the new décor. Our server Chris was outstanding. Loved his recommendations for food and dessert!! We go after the Jax Symphony Coffee for lunch on Fridays. We are not ever disappointed at Aix. Sitting near the front door can be a little chilly when someone goes out or in, so would chose a table further from front door next time.

Our party of nine mostly enjoyed the evening. It's the details that make the dining experience a good one. Long wait times to get drinks, running out of fish early in the evening and salmon tasting like it had nuclear waste added to it. We will give it another chance. Oh yeah, Bananas Foster should only be done at table side. Just sayin.

Was in Jax for the FL-GA game weekend. Dined on Friday evening and the family enjoyed it thoroughly. Nice atmosphere. We had appetizers including the Escargot (loved it) and the Veal bone "Canoes". The Roasted Beet salad and their version of the Caesar salad were delicious. For the entrees, the Cobia was accompanied by an excellent risotto and the Beef Filets were well prepared. An inexpensive bottle of Pinot Noir filled in nicely. The Banana Foster and the Meringue for desert rounded out a very enjoyable experience. Our server was very competent and we definitely will return to Bistro Aix next time in the San Marco area.

One of the best meals I've had all year, after trips to NYC, Chicago, Portland, Asheville, Denver and Atlanta. The grilled ahi tuna was pretty much perfection. The flavors were just phenomenal. Also had blue cheese chips, and we liked the thinness of the chips. Gave them a lightness that contrasted nicely with the thick, strong-flavored sauce. My girlfriend had the gnocchi, which was just slightly grilled, giving it a light char that added greatly to the texture. Being a vegetarian, she said it was a great option for her, and she doesn't always get those. To add to that, our waiter brought us a free chocolate cake after finding out it was our first visit. Tremendous night.

I took a client here for a lunch meeting, the restaurant is beautiful and the service was amazing. The food however, super overpriced for the portion and presentation. $15 for a small bowl of the shrimp tagliatelle!? It was just tossed in a bowl, messy and looked like it tasted just ok...my client said it was mediocre:( you definitely get mire for your money with a sandwich or pizza. Their prices are debatable.

We have dined at Bistro Aix multiple times. This by far was the worst experience. We sat at 6pm & told the waiter, Blaze, we were going to a show at 8pm. He was not trying to expedite things at all. He never told us the specials, we had to flag him down to order drinks & flag him down again to order food. Then he never came back to the table. The food took >1 hour to arrive. We had the flag the waiter down to ask about when the food would arrive. The manager did not seem very concerned & was of no help either. We never saw the waiter again, except at other tables. There was a woman helping the waiter, who was helping to expedite things. We had to inhale our food in order to make it to the show in time. We will not be returning any time soon.

So many restaurants try to 'force' being premium/fine dining, etc...but you can't simply be 'great' by saying you are. You have to be like Bistro Aix and do all the little things really, really well. Great wine list, amazing apps, the new owners restored the taste of the Steak Frites, and went back to the original recipe of the creamy French Onion soup. It's great to have Bistro Aix 'back' to how it was when it was the area's top dining option.

After the departure of the executive chef, there had been a period where the energy level and great service that was always the norm didn't seem to be there. Apparent change in management and style. Food presentation, the menu and overall ambience has actually diminished in quality. Price points for small/regular portions is somewhat ridiculous. No obvious consumer value in having done that. Adding bone marrow as a menu option is not something I am interested in. That smoked tomato bisque soup is still the best in Jacksonville, Florida!

Once again, Bistro Aix did not disappoint. Robert provided superb service. Two of my favorite wines were available by the glass-a unique opportunity. An outstanding special was offered that I couldn't refuse-ravioli stuffed with shrimp and lobster, three seared diver scallops topped with a lobster cream sauce. I was not thrilled with the dessert list (Bananas Foster on cake???) or that the Caesar Salad was the whole leaves that required constant cutting. Overall, it was a memorable dinner and I'll be back asking for Robert.
