  • "We found this place last minute on Open Table on Father's Day. The restaurant was completely empty when we walked in but as soon as we came in we were greeted and seated. The waiter was great. He was professional and honest in reccommendations. The food came quickly and was delicious! We'd definitely go back again."

  • "We made the mistake of going into Bistro 921, located in the Hilton Hotel, in downtown Portland for dinner after a concert. There was only one other couple dining there and after our first taste of bread and soup, we understood why the place was empty. There's no need to elaborate further as this "eating spot" is sure to fail before long."

  • "We had dinner at Bistro 921 on a Saturday night. It's conveniently located and a pleasant atmosphere. The food is all right, not a lengthy menu, but enough choices. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable. There was no wait to get in. "

  • "Great food and service. The jazz band was awesome! "

  • "The food was amazing and the service from our waiter was great. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 was that on open table it said Mother's Day brunch was $30 and under. But when we got there it was $45 for brunch. And when I brought it to the attention of multiple people I was ignored. I wasn't looking for them to lower the price, simple awknolwdge that they made a mistake. But I was basically waived off. The only person who listened intently and apologized for the mistake/misunderstanding was not the manager of the restaurant (who I spoke with first) but our waiter. "

  • "Food was fair. Much of the hot dishes were not very warm. Scallops were cold. Jazz group didn't play Mother's Day music. To much drums and bass, not enough recognizable songs. A guitar and bass would have been better."

  • "Have been going to Bistro 921 for Mother's Day for 3 years, first time at their 23rd floor location. Great view, beautiful day, nice brunch with a jazz trio."

  • "The food was spectacular and the view was beautiful. My partner was extremely satisfied on her day of celebration. "

  • "By far the worst brunch that I have ever been to. We should have left yet, It was 2:00 pm. We should have left and just had lunch and not did the traditional brunch. The presentation was awful. The food was inedible. The staff wandered around looking lost. It was JUST AWFUL. Never again at any Hilton property. That bad of a taste in my mouth literally. It was on par with Excalibur in Las Vegas yet the bistro 921 was 135.00 for 3 people. Way to much for what was presented. They were serving rice krispie treats sold at Safeway. Unbelievable. All, I can say is they must have had to throw out alot of food."

  • "It was too crowded. The amazing jazz band was put in an awkward corner. The feeling/ambiance on the top floor was not at all the same as the previous years in the actual restaurant. I don't think we will be doing any more brunch buffets here if it's done this way again. "

  • "This is hands down the worst brunch place in Portland. Horrible food and scary service. Don't waste your time or money."

  • "The jazz trio was a perfect accompainment to a delicious brunch. The large variety of seafood selections was especially appreciated. Usually brunch desserts are poor but theirs were wonderful. Ice sculptures, flowing mimosas, what's not to like? Lovely Easter treat. Expensive for sure but worth it. May go for Mothers Day as well."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Easter brunch buffet at Bistro 921, located in the Hilton on the 23rd floor. The space is usually held for conferences but they change it into a delightful brunch experience on holidays. The food was plentiful, the staff was very observant and always made sure there was plenty of everything. The food was delicious...made to order omelettes, jumbo shrimp, carved roast beef, cheese, salads, fruit, dessert. YUM! We sat by the window and could see for miles. The managers were on hand to make sure everyone was taken care of and when they weren't chatting with diners, they were busy helping staff pick up dishes, etc... Very nice, very energetic and lovely."

  • "The food was okay, not great. Didn't get much for the price paid. The server started out as excellent but he had a real difficult time with the bill. We asked for decaf coffee (4 of us) and it was cold. It took awhile to get hot coffee and with the bill problems we were almost late for the concert we were going to attend. We were the first ones seated when they opened at 5 pm but were one of the last ones to leave (others didn't seem to be having the difficulties we were having with our bill). It would probably be an okay place for lunch but not really for a nice dinner."

  • "Overall the food was good. The tomatoes in the salad were especially flavorful. The meat loaf was strange - had "strings" in it. The apple dessert was very good."

  • "Bistro 921 is good when you want to meet up for dinner before a show at the Arlene Schnitzer or Newmark Theater. There is good garage parking one block south of the Hilton and it's a short walk to either theater. For this, the location can't be beat. The food is good, but not great and dinner for 2 with 4 drinks is about $100. Our service was slow and it took 1.5 hours to eat dinner and had to skip the dessert in order to make it to the show on time. Personally, I would only come here for the location, and may come back before my next show at either theater."

  • "Bistro 921 at the Portland Hilton is in the heart of downtown, convenient to arts, cultural, shopping and office venues, and serving all meals every day. It's reliable. Relax in the bar or over a meal if you like, but the staff also can get you in and out in an hour if you have a set-time engagement like a concert. My seared salmon fillet and accompaniments were delicious and right-sized. My partner liked her half-chicken, some of which came home in a box."

  • "I was forced to eat at this restaurant due to travel and was disappointed that there was no choice other than the $45 valentine buffet. I was traveling with my son and did not want to spend so much on a buffet. Whe asked if there were other options I was told no but then later saw another table being served normal menu items."

  • "went for Valentine's Day. All other restaurants were booked up. I almost cancelled our reservations when i was informed of the $45/buffet price tag. BUT, the food was excellent, lots of variety, good friendly spirit. I would say the price was fair because the food quality really did surprise us. Not expecting that for a restaurant in a hotel. So very glad we went. Was a perfect lead into a night of dancing on the town."

  • "Great place to go for dinner before concert at Arlene Schnitzer. After would be great too. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. I'll definitely return to try something else."

  • "The restaurant was excellent. I had the special New Year's Eve Dinner. The stuffed halibut was wonderful along with the side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. I will be back again soon!"

  • "Found this little restaurant on Open Table and made reservations for their New Year's Even pre fixe menu before heading to the symphony. The restaurant is in the Hilton and was VERY quiet... just a few other diners besides our party of four. The food was good, the service was friendly, and it was brilliantly easy to walk to the concert hall afterward. I'd recommend it for a quiet meal before a show!"

  • "My husband and I went for their New Year's Eve fixed menu. We chose this place over Allium; that will never happen again! The lobster bisque and salad was nothing I couldn't buy at Safeway. The "Grilled Halibut Oscar" was overcooked and had a rubber taste. The "Filet Mignon" was anything but tender. Granted, they managed to cook it medium rare, but it was like eating a basic/generic steak. Dessert, a "Chocolate Yule Log," was a large Little Debbie cake! It even left the same waxy feel in the mouth... Worst part, the service... Not only did we hear staff arguing over tips, but even though the place was all but empty, we were TOLD our server was busy and couldn't get to us. Thankfully, Tyson stepped up and served us instead."

  • "First time at this restaurant. The food and service were actually really good. It is in the Hilton hotel and it doen't look like a fine dining restaurant. As it turned out it was a really good experience. We were impressed with service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about wine and was able to help us pick some great dinner selections. Overall really good and worth going back to.."

  • "We waited for over 20 minutes for a waiter to say hello. They have a rush every night the symphony performs but don't staff accordingly."
    Dined on 12/21/2013
  • "The food was absolutely wonderful. All four in our party commented that we could not remember a better meal. The value was terrific. We were attending Oregon Symphony following dinner and the all chose one of the variations on the pre-symphony menu. It represented great price for the meals. Servers and other staff were uniformly friendly, gracious and accommodating. The one concern we had was that service was slow - from taking our order to bringing utensils to presenting the check to processing payment. Seemed to be only one server handling the entire restaurant as far as we could see. He was scurrying and obviously doing his best; however, there should have been more help, especially in 1-1/2 hour prior to the symphony across the street."

  • "We eat here a lot before symphony or other events in the neighborhood. The food is great, reliable and, because it is a hotel restaurant, the menu has a wide variety. The staff has been there forever and they know their job and do it well. A great place to go!"

  • "I've discovered this place about a year ago and it's hard to even think about going anywhere else for my main holiday dinner! I've introduced it to friends as well and they keep coming back as well. The food is MOST delicious and not heavy! That depends on you, of course, because they have a wonderful dessert table along with the chocolate fountain...that's what I live for! Meat is NEVER dry, veggies are wide and varied, and the most delicious stuffing! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone! The only negative this last time at Thanksgiving was the thermometer needed to be turned down. Way TOO warm in the restaurant! But I'll still go back!"

  • "My family was in town for Thanksgiving and we were fortunate enough to score a reservation at the Bistro. The 1/2 chicken w/savory bread pudding was amazing! And a steal at $18! The rest of my party enjoyed the pot pies. :) thanks to the excellent staff and chefs!"

  • "I chose this restaurant for a business lunch. It was perfect for this purpose. It was quiet but not too quiet and the wait staff was very attentive but discrete. Nice atmosphere and the food was very good. Nothing too exotic, but great for a businss lunch."

  • "Bistro 921 is located in a downtown hotel, and the ambiance is that of a hotel restaurant. Not a hot spot; not romantic, no views, etc., but the service was great and both the wine and food choices certainly sufficient to create a nice meal and memorable experience."
    Dined on 10/20/2013
  • "I booked a dinner reservation at the BISTRO 921 for members of an advisory board for a meeting and then tickets to a lecture at the Schnitzer Theater. Thinking the location would be easily accessed and close to the theater. Well it was that. While some of the meals were ok--some were very bad. I had the roast chicken with a savory bread pudding and vegetables. The vegetable were very good--the chicken was very bland and had a funky crust with a swoosh of somekind of sauce. --And what ever the bread pudding- stuffing- dressing stuff was---it was not any of those. It was like a compressed "McDonalds fish filet but made of bread instead of fish. about a 1/4 by 2 by 3. It was not a roast chicken dinner."

  • "We ended up in the NON Service area which could have been the entire dining room. The food tasted packaged and heated. It took forever to get service, bread, dinner and the restaurant was significantly understaffed. Pricing was NOT a match to the experience and food."

  • "I was needing a decent and fairly quick meal in downtown Portland, and found it at Bistro 921. The food was adequate, not exciting, although the service was quite attentive and pleasant."

  • "Service was a little slow, even though there were were not many people. Server didn't come around very much, we had to keep flagging her when we needed something, and again waited about 10 extra minutes for the check to come, after we asked for it. The food was delicious! We ordered a trout and salmon, and both steaks were generous in portion. I liked that you could choose from a variety of sides--I picked the sweet potato fries, which were very good. I would definitely come back."

  • "Great restaurant located in the heart of downtown. Some of the best crab cakes we have ever found, and we have chased them all over the east and best, I mean, west coast. Smaller wine and beer menu than one would come to expect in Portland, but good nonetheless. Steelhead was amazing and crab Louie was remarkable. Located in the Portland Hilton, the ambiance and setting left some to be desired, but was still a great experience."
