We love the atmosphere and the
warm helpful staff. The mgr. Jessica oversees the staff to be sure all goes smoothly and timely and it does! The food is always marvelous and you will not be disappointed! We have only been in the evening but our friends we introduced the restaurant to found lunch to be fabulous as well! Definitely a gem."

Good food, good service. They have
outdoor dining during the warmer seasons but it is near the hotel pool."

After shopping at Tanger Outlets
we needed to find a nice quiet and non-fast food place to enjoy a relaxing meal. Bistro 72 provided just that and more. Our waiter was helpful and attentive and the atmosphere was exactly right. Of course, a weekend night may provide a completely different experience. We chose the Price Fixed menu and were very pleased with our selections. The Bistro salad as an appetizer was a great start. I chose the papardelle bolognese as my entree and my husband had the praline crusted cod. Both choices were very good and i took home most of the pasta for the next day. Our choice for dessert was the creme brûlée, which we both enjoyed immensely. We would recommend Bistro 72 and we would definitely make a return visit."

With the exception of being told
that "breakfast is served all day" on Sunday...and finding out that wasn't the case at all...it stopped at 12 Noon, we enjoyed our first visit to Bistro 72. The waiter was great. The manager (who told us we were mistaken about breakfast being served all day) was snippy and her customer service skills need to be honed. The food, on the other hand, was delicious and served beautifully. In spite of the manager's lack of customer service skills, the food and the service might tempt us to try again."

This far surpassed any Hotel
restaurant dining experience....We were a group of four and everything we ordered was delicious... Special mention for our server, Cindy, who has such a great personality......Extremely friendly, courteous, and attentive....We also were seated in a corner semi circular booth which had to be the best seat in the house...."

The food was really good. Bread
was fresh baked, but only three small (I mean small) pieces are given. They had no problem supplying more. Local wines and beers are nice, I had a beer flight which came with four different local beers (all were good!). Entrees were good, perfect portions. Prices were very reasonable. Did not get dessert because we were full. Nice place for a small romantic date. Would definitely eat here again."

First and foremost is the notable
wine list. Local vineyards are featured and in addition to wine flights you can get local wines by the glass you normally have to get by the bottle in other restaurants. Wednesday is the prix fixe and several very interesting selections are available under that menu. The only odd thing is that in the bar area you have lots of television screens but you also have a live piano player playing relaxing piano music. If you don't mind that paradox, it is an excellent experience."
Dined on 2/19/2014
Food was delicious. Service was
excellent. Could not always hear piano player."

We enjoyed our dinner at the
Bistro 72. The greeted us with local sparkling wine sample from Sparkling Point. The appetizor we had was muscles was very good. For my main course I had a veal/eggplant, and prositio - the dish was good except I didn't care for the prosito. My date had a Pork dish that was good."

We have had exceptional meals
here. Our most recent experience was less than it could have been. The food was well presented but served tepid rather than piping hot. My steak was over-cooked. Service was friendly but haphazard. When I told our server that my food was not as hot as I would have liked, she apologized but did not offer to attempt to address it. Great potential sometimes met."

We found this place through
Groupon an decided to give it a try.Service was very nice, pleasant, and extremely efficient, but not overwhelming. We had a nice, cozy table by fireplace. Our waitress was very helpful and made a couple of good suggestions. I had a salad with walnuts, dried cranberries and goat cheese. A very flavorful combination with a just right amount of light dressing on it. Hubby had a corn chowder soup which he very much enjoyed. My entrée was a cod filet over a bed of mashed potatoes with some broccoli rabe and carrots. Although I wish there were a little more vegetables and less potatoes, the dish was very tasty and cooked just right. desserts were delicious as well. I tried a crème brule and hubby had apple cobbler."

Salads good but dressings too
sweet pork chop OK but uninteresting - flavor in the sauce didn't penetrate. Service only fair - bread came late, server didn't know much about the wine, etc."

We went to Bistro 72 New Years
Eve. The fixed menu had amazing choices. My wife and I had the corn chowder, crab cakes, Caesar salad, Bistro salad, filet Mignon and the Creme Brulee. Everything was spot on. we were not rushed at all. The music was great and they offered free champagne at midnight. this is our second time at Bistro and will return many more times."

Fantastic food, good wine
selection, good Martini selection, but the food & service was beyond outstanding."
Dined on 12/22/2013
Sat by the fireplace and had a
nice quite dinner. So nice to find a restaurant that doen't crowd in the tables. Food was excellent! Service was excellent! Five Stars all around."
Dined on 12/7/2013
We went for lunch on Saturday
afternoon. The place is beautiful, the server very nice and polite. The food was great, the wine was great! It was a very pleasant experience!"
Dined on 12/7/2013
This was the very first time
dining at Bistro 72 and I thought it would be great considering that it is on the more expensive end. It was nothing to write home to mom about. I had the chicken and it was very dry. Our waitress looked a hot mess and was a bit unprofessional. We went a while without a drink refill or water refill. The Smores dessert was horrible. I would not recommend this restaurant to any of my family or friends, nor will I spend the money to have another dinner here."
Dined on 11/9/2013
I had the sautéed sea scallops
while hubby had the filet mignon..No complaints here, food was cooked perfectly. We also had the sesame crusted calamari which was outstanding. Would definitely return. The live music was also a plus."
Dined on 11/22/2013
The food was excellent and the
ambiance was great. There was low key, live entertainment which we thoroughly enjoyed. The service was great with the exception of one waitress, but nothing is perfect. She seemed to want to be anywhere but there so we could certainly have done without her. Anthony, the bartender, was good and enjoyed talking to Joan, the hostess. She made us feel very welcome. Overall a great experience."

The Hotel Indigo's Bistro 72 is
not an average hotel restaurant. Service was terrific (and patient - we were a large group and arrived at different times). Food was delicious. Local beer and wine selection large and good. Beet salad is a stand-out although all the food was good. We will come back and we will stay in the hotel next time, too."

Great menu, great food very slow
Dined on 10/29/2013
This was a five star experience if
you consider price to value. Classy space, Wine Down Wednesday means all wines were half price (and they're not outrageous to begin with). Prix Fixe menu offered two outstanding salads wonderful pistachio crusted cod with cauliflower/mashed potatoes and fresh local veggies beautifully presented and excellent chicken. First rate creme brulee. Portions were more than generous."
Dined on 10/24/2013
Food and service was good,
generous cheese platter. Will definitely go back. We were there after 9 on a Saturday night and there were two musicians playing. We were afraid they were going to be too loud as we were seated not far from them, but all turned out well. Overall, enjoyable evening."
Dined on 10/20/2013
The food and service were both
excellent! They have live music there and a beautiful outside area you can dine at or just hang out! They take part in the "Jazz on the Vine" event. I will be there!!!!"
Dined on 10/19/2013
We dined on Friday night when they
had a love band playing. The music was great people were dancing and singing along. Our dinner was delicious as usual. The appetizer soups were outstanding. Our waiter Ryan was terrific. Even though he was very busy with many tables he kept coming back to make sure everything was good and to see if we needed anything else. We go quite often and have never had a bad meal."

Although outside of the main area
of Riverhead (right off exit X72 of LIE) and therefore one loses the village "charm:, Bistro 72 is a great find. Nice ambiance inside and out (had lunch outdoor by the pool) and I expect that evenings would be awesome. Lots of pretty sitting areas and the grounds are very pretty. Menu is great, some nice innovative dishes and beautifully presented! Service attentive and friendly and it seems that the restaurant is a venue for both live music and other events related to the North Fork. Looking forward to going back."

Bistro 72 is a great choice for
dinner. Great fresh local food served in a fire placed dinning room. What more can you really ask for during fall on the North Fork of Long Island."
Dined on 10/9/2013
...and we liked it. The food was
good. The service was mostly OK. One of the servers stepped on my foot, nearly pushed me aside while serving some food, and was a bit clumsy without being apologetic. It sort of came off as rude, but he wasn't our main server, so I didn't let it get to me too much. Otherwise, great time! Thanks!"
Dined on 9/10/2013
We go to bistro 72 quite often and
always enjoy the consistently good food. This was the first time the service was very slow. After waiting 15 minutes I had to go to the bar and find out when the waitress was coming to the table to take our drink order. The place was slow so it wasn't that she had many to help. After that start the drinks were good as were the appetizers and all the dinners. Everyone had dessert and enjoyed that too. The waitress claimed they didn't have decaf cappuccino which I usually get when we dine out. Over all I would reccomend the place. Sorry to see that our regular waiter nick went away to school. He was excellent!"
Dined on 9/10/2013
Very good food and wonderful
outdoor dining that featured some wonderful dishes (duck, and speciality pizzas). The night was made more enjoyable by the addition of a country/western duo that were outstanding. A nice experience had by all."
Dined on 9/1/2013
nice place with a nice variety of
classy food === dessert was so pretty == I had reservations for 1 night, but went back again the next night"
Dined on 8/29/2013
the service was excellent. Our
waitress was amazingly sweet and was very attentive to our puppy. Its dog friendly as long as Yup sit outside. The food was fresh and different combinations. Really great."
Dined on 8/28/2013
The food here was absolutely
delicious! I've eaten here twice and both experiences were amazing. My only negative thought is there were quite a few children in the bar area as it is centrally located with the restaurant area but I guess some things can't be helped in a hotel."
Dined on 8/14/2013
We had to ask for the pre-fixe
menu! It's like the server was trying to keep it a secret! I hate when restaurants do this...if you have a pre-fixe, let diners know, otherwise don't have one...simple!"
Dined on 8/12/2013
Was looking forward to trying the
food at this well known restaurant. It was "ok". Not many options. Service was terrible and it was empty. When I asked if there were any specials, Jennifer, looked @ me & said there's the menu. When I got the bill there was a postcard listing specials for $27 for the night I was there. She got our order wrong because she didn't write it down. We saw her once to take our order and once when we asked for the check. We needed more wine but she was never around and mind you the restaurant was empty. Overall the hardest workers were the bus boys. Who were pleasant & friendly - unlike Jennifer."
Dined on 8/13/2013
The service was wonderful! The
duck was really great. Scallops were average- very good. Fried oysters had little flavor (even with the sauce). The atmosphere was really great and romantic. Outside fireplace and a sit by the pool at sunset :) We may go back; but would probably go for the cheaper fare - burger and a salad. Oh--we did the wine flight and that was really fun!!!! We didn't have time to go to the vineyards. So, the vineyards came to us. that was really great! And for $12 each and a good pour - Fantastic!"
Dined on 8/11/2013
dinner was good the cheese plate
was amazing, the outdoor fire place was great to relax by and have a drink after dinner"
Dined on 7/24/2013
We had a terrific dinner! Think
that is why you go out to eat. Correct?"
Dined on 7/24/2013
This place had great food and is
set in a beautiful hotel but we arrived to a fairly empty dinning area that had slow service and by the time it became crowded the service was stagnant. The noise was often too loud bc of the diners and those sitting in the waiting area. Overall it wasn't a bad place, good wine list and wonderful cocktails, delicious menus including dessert but service turned a relaxing dinner into a waiting game."
Dined on 5/20/2013
Went to Bistro for a romantic
birthday night dinner and the entree was delicious. The service was horrific, so much so that we did not stay for a Birthday desert. Our waitress was spent all time chatting with friends at the bar and other tables. We will never come back and will not recommend to friends, which is a shame because the kitchen did a great job. It hard to right such a review as my husband is a restaurant manager and we know how hard management works to please patrons. It is a amazing how one waitress can ruin the perception and reputation of this restaurant but it is true. This experience has opened my eyes in his own restaurant to make sure his wait staff is caring for patrons appropriately."
