Bistro 241Bistro 241: A Fantastic Culinary FiI have been to Bistro 241 on several occasions and have enjoyed the experiences immensely. I feel quite capable of offering my views on this exceptional establishment. This is a gem of a restaurant located in Pineapple Grove in Delray Beach, Florida. Ellie, the owner, is a gregarious fellow who loves what he is doing and certainly knows how to operate a restaurant. The menu caters to all tastes and the preparation of the meals are excellent. The staff is very well trained and adept at what they are doing. The owner will explain in detail every item listed on the menu and have quite a conversation about the wines that he personally chose for the restaurant. Our meals, four of us ordered three different entrees, were outstanding. We all raved about taste, appearance, and overall quality of our meals. The owner came to our table to make sure that we were pleased with everything. He was attentive as was our waitress, but not overbearing. My scallops were the best I have ever had and my husband loved his yellowtail snapper dinner. Hidden away in the Pineapple Grove Arts District are a number of fine restaurants. Our favorite is Bistro 421. The food is excellent, the service is superior and the owner, Ellie, will make you feel right at home. This time I had the mussels which were plump, tender and tasty, and the scallops over mushroom risotto which was delicious. The prices were reasonable, the food was good, and we were served by the owner and his sister. They were very warm. Our entire group of 9 were very happy. This restaurant is only about 6 months old (as of 5/2013). We have now been there 4 times without any disappointments. The owner, Elie, remembered us each time, even knowing where we sat and what we ordered. So refreshing to start out with the hummus and wheat pita. Nice change from the "white breads" we so often see these days. We both started with the caprese salad, which was just delicious and a very large portion. Glad I didn't finish mine and saved room for the main course. The scallop with risotto was outstanding, short ribs were a huge hit too. We skipped dessert but enjoyed a delightful cup of fresh coffee to top off our wonderful dinner. There is lots of competition in Delray for great restaurants, but this one is definitely a keeper....we will be back!!! Food is excellent, service exceptionally accomodating and we highly recommend Bistro 241 for a great meal. We also like its Pineapple Grove location - close to Atlantic Ave, but without the noise and traffic. The soups are homemade and thick with the main ingredients. The meat dishes such as short ribs with winter vegetables or lamb oso bucco were excellent as were all of the fish dishes from salmon, to yellowtail, to grouper to scallops over risotto. We had 15 people including my 4 year old son and we were all accomodated perfectly. Everyone was comfortable and taken care of so graciously and warmly! Our host, the owner, Eli, was willing and helpful! It made our whole evening so amazing and unforgetable! I live in Sarasota and my mom lives in Delray so I didn't know this restaurante first hand. I trusted the reviews and was not sorry at all! It was amazing! The food was delicious and our party ordered everything from the scallops, to salmon, to roast chicken, to shrimp and no one was the least bit unhappy! Everyone loved the ambience! Great music! We have had wonderful meals there four times in the past few months and each time the food is fresh, interestingly prepared and presented, delicious and reasonably priced for the top quality. In past visits I have had a great short rib platter and an enjoyable lamb osso bucco special, as well as the best mushroom soup I've ever had. This visit each of the six in the party had fish dishes or scallops and all were delighted. They are exceptionally accomodating to any food restrictions and cheerfully make appropriate substitutions when asked. The wine list is good and we have tried a different wine each visit without disappointment. The server was new and was not familiar with alcohol. But she was gracious and went out of her way to please. The food (grouper, veal and mahimahi) was excellent with beautiful presentation. The desserts were to die for--the lemon custard and the Belgian chocolate lava cake. Both were extraordinary. It is one of our "go to" places for dinner with friends. The food is very good, and the restaurant is a very comfortable place to hang out. The service is never rushed . . . and the maitre'd and wait staff are helpful and friendly.
The restaurant is family-owned and some of the recipes come from "mom."
Our latest meal was with two other couples . . . all liked the food, and the maitre'd's recommendation re: wine was spot on.

This Pineapple Grove area of Delray is really on a roll with an uptick of good restaurants. Bistro 241 is locally owned and works with locally produced food. Salmon was wonderful.
