  • "Mikayla was an amazing waitress. She made our experience incredible and the food was amazing. Definitely would recommend."

  • "Bistro has been the standard in Turlock for so long they've become a little lazy. Good food, but also always the same. Even specials are repeated far too often. Food has been great until my last couple of visits when my dishes were lackluster. Unfortunately, service has never been top notch either so not much to fall back on there. Staff are friendly, but soon you are forgotten & brushed past as they rush to who knows where. Never rude, but never mind-blowing attentiveness either. The new restaurants downtown will hopefully light a fire under their butts to get the move on and pep up both the food and the service level. I want to like Bistro again...No, I want to love Bistro again. Please come back Bistro, we are rooting for you!"

  • "Restaurant was understaffed at lunch. It was slow to get order taken, but the food was very tasty when it arrived. "

  • "This is a consistently good place. There are things that fall a titch short...wedge salad needs to be colder. Butter on bread plate should be firm not mushy. Placement of a table in main dining room near the bar is out in the middle, where people need to walk to get to the bathroom. It's awkward. But other than that, it is a great place. Their gnocchi with sage cream sauce is incredible. And you can't go wrong with the Diana torte for dessert. Delicious and enough for four people!"

  • "Friday night dinner with a reservation..we were seated at the table closet to the door with other tables available. Server failed to recognize us for approx. 10 minutes then failed to offer cocktail service while we waited for the other couple to arrive. Food was tasty my vegetables were very undercooked. We ordered a bottle of wine that was delayed and arrived mid way thru the meal. Not the best experience we have had and it won't keep us from coming back, not the experience we have had in the past."

  • "When we checked in, the the hostess said "it is going to be a busy night so we put you at a high table" I told her that we wanted a table. This didn't seem to please her. We were seated at the smallest table available, right behind the hostess station. We had to put the salt and pepper shaker as well as some of our dishes in the window display (where the rocks and plants were) to make room for our food on the table. I felt like we were being " punished" for asking to sit where we wanted to sit. I'd made reservations well in advance and made a note that it was my boyfriend's birthday There was no mention of that, or basically anything. It was a miserable dining experience. We couldn't wait to get out of there."

  • "The food here is outstanding! Had potato gnocchi that simply amazing! But we were ignored all night...practicality had to beg for ice and refills.. Just for that I wouldn't run back any time soon"

  • "always have a great experience at this restaurant. food is delicious and the service ids generally top notch. the service was a little lacking this time but nothing really bad just not as good as pay experiences. the atmosphere is nice but still fairly casual. this is my favorite place to go. I love the gnocchi with sage cream sauce.. awesome!"

  • "old charm atmosphere located downtown beautiful Turlock. This small central valley town is home to numerous restaurants, however Bistro 234 has the most exquisite selection of foods. The head chef creates mouth watering dishes from chicken marsala to perfectly grilled salmon or halibut. It is a dining experience that is perfect for a romantic evening. Nice wine selections."

  • "My wife was delighted with the sea bass, I enjoyed the new York in a peppercorn sauce, we shared a salad. all was good, was a busy night (valentines) was a pleasant experience."

  • "We had a great time, we almost didn't want to leave."

  • "Artichoke appetizer is really good having been steamed then grilled; served with balsamic vinegar drizzle and aoili. The gnocchi is a large serving with tender chicken. Does not reheat well-much to my dismay. The bacon-wrapped filet is a favorite and the shallot butter with the fingerlings is wonderful. Never had a bad meal."

  • "Food was a limited menu and not very good. We ordered 4 out the 8 options and all were a bust! But the wine was good!!"

  • "Varied menu, fair prices and a great wine list. Known for chicken Marsala, but everything is good. Service is always solid. We have to go at least 2 times per month or we have withdrawls. Our favorite special is penne bolognese."

  • "The Ribeye Steaks were great, cooked perfectly and tender. The accompanying white asparagus delicious. However, the Chicken Marsala was not good at all. I have eaten Chicken Marsala in many restaurants and this was not like anything I had experienced. The color was a dark brown and it tasted burnt; the chicken was dry with little flavor. The service was very good with our waitress being very attentive. I would eat here again, but stay away from the Chicken Marsala."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at the Bistro. Everyone raved about their meals, from the ravioli to the steak to the key lime pie. The staff was great and kept a quiet eye on our table. We've dined at the Bistro before, and this was the best meal so far."

  • "The staff at Bistro 234 could not be more accommodating. I had to cancel four of my ten reservations at the last minute (four no shows) and they were so nice about it all. We had a terrific lunch, you just can not beat the food in this restaurant and we will go back again & again & again. The Portobello Sandwich is just to die for."

  • "The food at Bistro is very good! The servers are very attentive. The Bistro always has several fish choices on their menu as well as daily specials. The fish is fresh and is paired with different side dishes. The menu has several different dinner salads which are delicious. The desserts look amazing! Have not tried them though but hear others rave about them. The wine list is excellent. Lots of choices by the glass as well as bottles."
