A word from Bistro 2210
We are a neighborhood bistro serving classic French bistro cuisine since 2005. Chef owned and operated, Jason Armstrong wanted to share his love for Parisian bistros and bring a little bit of France / Montreal to Calgary. Our menu includes items such as Alberta steak frites, chicken with spatzle, Coquilles Saint Jacques, Lamb Provencal, etc. The bistro is located in what is now called Restaurant Row but we know it as the original French Quarter of Calgary.

Wine is choosen to compliment the food...mostly French but a few new world wines to add some interest.

We have an extensive cocktail list with lots of bourbon, whiskey, etc. Jerry Thomas himself would be pleased to sit at our bar!

We only accept reservations for dinner...lunch and brunch is walk-in only.

Diner Reviews
  • "Honestly, the service was good, the woman was kind and attentive. But the food really was not worth it. It took about 30mins for the food to get to us and it took 10mins to eat our meal. Our bill for four came up to 200 (we just ordered main dishes and ice tea) the food was ether too salty or not seasoned enough. Overall not happy with the experience, pretty little place, nice ladies, but the food was disapointing for the money we spent."

  • "We had wonderful meal, nice quiet evening but got a $40 parking ticket in an area i thought was ok. It seems like overzealous enforcement!"

  • "I've dined here on a dozen or more occasions and my guests have invariably enjoyed it. Two out-of-town clients always ask to dine here when visiting."

  • "Great fish and chips served up to two maritimers who were delighted for such a great treat in Cowtown. Please don't take it off the menu!!!"

  • "This is one of my favorite places to go in Mission, the staff is always so wonderful and the food is divine! They change their menu up periodically and it always seems to get better and better. Lunch dining is fabulous as the food is great and always comes out fast with a nice soft atmosphere so you aren't challenged with hearing your guest(s)"

  • "My wife introduced me to this place. I had the carrot soup and the bison meatloaf, outstanding! Great place to people watch on 4th Street and have a quiet meal with someone special."

  • "I would definitely recommend Bistro 2210 to anyone looking for a relaxed evening dinner. Even my California guest was impressed! And stopped to thank the chef!"

  • "Used to be one of our favourite Calgary spots - why fix something that's not broken? Same menu items (Duck, for one) have been changed for the worse. Smaller, not as well done - we were a little embarrassed to bring guests to a place we had raved about, to find it had gone downhill in mere months. Not terrible food, but I've rated it low for the simple fact it missed expectations they themselves had set!"

  • "A friend and I went there after the lunch rush, so it was very quiet, which we enjoyed! The item that I had hoped to order (Salad Nicoise) was out of stock. I don't know if that was because we were there later or not. We both ended up ordering the soup of the day, which was divine. Then we both ordered a Creme Brulee for dessert, which unfortunately had a very pasty, thick texture, instead of being silky and smooth. We both ended up leaving our desserts and told the waitress why, but were not offered any compensation for that. We would probably go back, but would avoid ordering dessert in the future."

  • "I've been going to this restaurant for years and my husband and I both love it. The food is consistently delicious and the service is always good. The restaurant ambiance is quiet and lovely - just the way we like it."

  • "Had the Poutine for Yyc Poutine week, and it was perfect. Also had the crab croquettes and the grilled Cesar. Very busy, but it's a great place so not unexpected. "

  • "First time dining here. Appetizers tasty but not incredibly exciting, Steak frites was tasty but what you'd expect from the dish, whereas the chicken main with mushroom sauce over spaetzle was the real winner - delicious, we kept stealing the plate from each other. For dessert the server-recommended budino dish (basically butterscotch custard with salted caramel sauce on top) was a success too, and worth trying. In all, would go back again. Small wine list but lots of affordable options."

  • "This is why I like Bistro 2210: a)the menu has a good range of items, but keeps the number of choices down so they can focus on doing a great job of what they serve. B) the chairs are comfortable c) until the restaurant really got packed, the noise level was such that we could have a good conversation at our table without raising our voices. Service was sincere and skilled."

  • "We went to Bistro 2210 as part of the Big Taste event going on in Calgary. I think they had the best selection out of any of the other restaurants. All three courses were delicious and the perfect size. Fantastic experience."

  • "We had the Tasting menu which included duck poutine which was perfection, mushroom fettucine, and this little custard thing for dessert- omg soooooo good! My friend picked different options from the Tasting menu and was equally impressed (tuna apply, cod on a bed of white beans, crepe type dessert). Really enjoyed the restaurant and going during The Big Taste Calgary gave us an opportunity to try some dishes we might not otherwise have tried. Awesome!"

  • "Went for the Taste of Calgary event. This meal was an excellent value. Our party enjoyed the pasta with mushrooms, the lamb meatloaf, the pork 3 ways with sauerkraut, and the cod. The squash soup was excellent. In the desserts, the butterscotch pudding (can't remember what they called it) was particularly delicious. Service was attentive and friendly and we left FULL!"

  • "We had a party of 6, 2 children (6yrs & 10yrs), parents, and grand-parents, and everyone had a great meal! Big Taste Calgary is a great way to go try new places for very affordable prices, and we'll certainly be going back! Food and services were both excellent!"

  • "Great meal, everything was delicious and huge portions. The service was friendly and helpful not overbearing or pushy. We had a great meal here. The environment was great too."

  • "The restaurant was very busy therefore the server was not with us a lot. The food was medium in taste nothing special and my fiancee took the choucroute dish and had to spit the bite because it wasn't good. I quite liked my dishes but was not impressed. It is a small private restaurant that is very casual."

  • "Not sure why I had never been to this restaurant before, which I find out was a huge mistake. What a fabulous place! This is a must go to establishment. The food was incredible and the wine list is extensive and brilliant. Had the lobster croquettes which were just wonderful. For a main dish I had the fish and chips, which frankly I didn't expect to find at a French bistro like this, and was a great surprise. The fish was tender and the batter was so thin it was great."

  • "Our New Favorite Restaurant, fabulous food, Great Service with a nice warm atmosphere."

  • "This is a small French bistro that has a very nice quiet feel to it. If you are tired of the hussle and bussle of some of the new trendy spots, where you can't hear your dinner companion talk, then Bistro 2210 may be a better choice. The food is very good, all four dinner guests at our table had something different and everyone enjoyed their meals. Good wine list of French wines, something for everyone. Service was excellent, and there is not one negative thing we could say about our dining experience. It was a Thursday night that we dined at Bistro 2210"

  • "Overall the restaurant and food was pretty good but the bathroom toilet was gross! It was my first time there so hopefully it isn't like that all the time. Food was pretty good...I had the risotto which was a little bland but my husband's steak and fries were really good."

  • "We had a good dinner at Bistro 2210, but would not likely go back only because we have been to other restaurants that we prefer more."

  • "Overall great evening. Wait staff was very attentive. My duck breast on turnip purée was amazing & the lobster crochet was wonderful as were the mussels with Frits, hanger steak was chewy but tasty. Will be back"

  • "We were here in October 2013 and now again Feb 1, 2014, both times we have had such a good experience. We had the duck and the steak, both cooked perfect! The dessert was out of this world, how can you go wrong with salted caramel...and then placed on top of a warmed butterscotch pudding- yum! I would love to see the wine list extended, mostly French selections"

  • "Had a very good meal at Bistro 2210, muscles were delicious, the romaine salad was delicious with just the right amount of dressing too!! Was probably good with just that food but, of course, ordered a main dish of fish for me (delicious!!) and steak for my husband which was also very good! My only complaint would be that the service wasn't the greatest and that could be because there were a few larger parties."

  • "Well prepared French bistro dishes. The salad was perfectly dressed and generous. The steak tartare was made decadent with a deep fried egg. The steak with pepper sauce and frites was a treat. Service was excellent - just attentive enough. Would definitely recommend and will go back again"

  • "Have been here a few times and always find it enjoyable and consistent. I like the small size of the dining room and never feel rushed or overwhelmed. I recommend newbies trying it out, but they may want to check the menu before going as the selection (which should be expected with a smaller bistro) may seem limited to some."

  • "This is one of my favourites places to dine in the evening and I've never been disappointed. The food is French cuisine at its best. The menu presented is not large, with all of the choices reflecting the owner's experience in selection and preparation of excellent French cuisine. The staff are always friendly and professional and contribute greatly to the ambience of Bistro 2210."

  • "Met here for our monthly! We try to do a new restaurant each month and heard this place would be a fun try. Once the waitress heard we were ordering drinks and food to share she became ver inattentive. We had to flag her down to get more food, more drinks and finally the bill. It ruined the experience because the food was actually really good and the place had some fun cocktails. We felt like we were being scolded by our mother!"

  • "I walk by here all the time and always said i wanted to explore inside. I finally made a reservation and it turned out to be fantastic. The setting is quaint and quiet and cozy. I went for a lunch meeting and it was perfect, I was surprised to not see it busier."

  • "this was our 4th time to the Bistro, we keep going back because the food, service, and cozy size of the resturant is right for us."

  • "Great meal all around. The steak tartare was some of the best I've had. I had tenderloin as well, which came with a delicious potato galette sort of thing (which can so easily be so gross if pre-prepped) and white asparagus. My husband had the lamb duo, which was beautifully cooked. The cuts are quite fatty, which I think is great but husband didn't care for as much. The wine list was, predictably, all French. We had a Cab Franc which in my opinion was not very nice at all, and a Cote du Rhone which was passable. I don't know too much about French wines, so I suspect we just chose poorly. Anyhow, food was GREAT, will be back armed with some better knowledge of french wine regions."

  • "So many restaurants call themselves "bistro" in Calgary these days without doing anything that typifies the term. Bistro doesn't just mean small. It is a certain decor. It is a specific type of French cooking that can still be adventurous. It is a certain style of personalized service. Bistro is a feeling. Anyone who has spent time in France will know exactly what I mean. Bistro 2210 IS a bistro. Go there. Eat the sweetbreads, eat the duck confit, eat the braised veal, enjoy a glass of Sancerre, close your eyes and enjoy your authentic Paris experience on Calgary's 4th St."
