We were happy to find a place in the crossroads area of Carmel for brunch and we're delighted that they had reservations available. When we finally arrived, there were only 2 other tables taken but we had to wait for a while to be seated and then waited for a while for our order to be taken because the workers were all roiling silverware in the napkins. Eventually when one of them came to take our order, she was rushing us because another party just walked in. Geez, we had reservations and came on time and waited for 15 minutes. Anyway, I ordered the eggs Benedict and she ordered the pancakes, egg & bacon combo. the food was ok but the service lacked in every way. Very pricy and guess they don't like Asian people coming to there place.

Good food, reasonably priced, truly a neighborhood restaurant. It's tucked into the Crossroads Shopping Center & not easy to find. We enjoyed it for its simplicity. Caesar salad had fresh greens & home made dressing, steak was prepared as requested, fresh spinach was not over cooked, pasta was well prepared & lightly sauced. All in all an enjoyable evening.

We wanted a nice friendly quiet place for a light dinner. Bistro 211 is it. We enjoyed the friendly service, the great food and wine and we could talk to each other without yelling. There is a small area for dining outside with your pets if you wish. Definitely keeping this place on our go to list.

It is rare to find a neighborhood restaurant featuring food fit for a king! The soup is far and away the best in Monterey County and the ground Angus beef is in a class by itself. Also the fresh Fench rolls are delicious. The service can lag from time to time, but this is not a problem for me. The service personnel are pleasant and helpfull and the prices are reasonable. The chef(whom I've never met) is a genius!

If a full-sized hamburger is too much, by all means try the Petite Nepenthe. It combines 4 oz. of outstanding beef with lettuce and tomato on a chibatta roll, with a choice of (excellent)soup or a small salad. An outstanding value and a delicious treat. The Bistro also serves fine speciality dinners.

We had a 9:00 am reservation for six, four adults and two kids, on Mother's Day. A very large party came in after we ordered and they became the "excuse" for our unsatisfactory service. The four adults in our party were served at least five minutes before the kids. Inexcusable! I'm sorry to say that although their food is excellent, we won't be coming back for quite a while.

My group of 15 descended upon Bistro 211 this past Saturday night. We were a bit surprised to discover we were the only group there on a Saturday night. However our surprise quickly turned to delight when we realized we could be as loud as a group of 15 people drinking copious amounts of wine tends to be. We took over the music selection, ordered tons of food, danced around. Basically it felt like we were taking over someone's home. Even without other customers, a group of 15 is hard to serve. The service was perfect- attentive but not overbearing. They could not have been nicer!

Wait staff was a bit overwhelmed by a crowded restaurant. Hostess seemed surprised we had made a reservation but acknowledged they were running late. Our dining experience was not as good as it has been because they seemed understaffed. Usually this is a friendly, comfortable, enjoyable cafe. We'll go back but probably not for a while.

We're so happy we found this delightful, low- key restaurant for New Years Eve. We were visiting from out of town and didn't want a mob scene or an 11pm reservation. The NYE menu was well-thought-out, starting with an amazing Lobster Bisque and offering a choice of delectable entrees and chocolate mousse. The service was impeccable. We will make sure to return when we're in Carmel.

My husband and I were in the area for NYE and made reservations late that afternoon. Bistro 211 is a cute spot despite its location in a shopping center. We had a cozy table and the service was friendly. The special menu was very good and included items I would not normally order (such as lobster bisque), so I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. The only things that didn't make the experience outstanding was that my entree was nearly room temp whereas my husband's was hot, and the staff seemed a bit flustered. However, they were so charming and welcoming that I opted not to send my plate back and it didn't affect my overall experience. We will definitely stop at Bistro 211 again as we are interested to try their regular menu, too.

This little mall restaurant was a pleasant place to have dinner after a day on the road - nice to find it open and available on an off-season evening in December. We had a nice bottle of cabernet sauvignon at a reasonable price. I had a good caesar salad and the plank steak special, which was very tasty. My mother was less impressed with the bouillabaisse, which she said was bland. Neither of us cared for the creme brullee; the custard was overcooked and cold, and the hard sugar topping sat on the top as though dropped on (which it may have been). The service was very friendly and efficient.

The food is amazing. I had French onion soup and a burger. Sounds simple. So many do these items, but very few do them well. Bistro 211 makes a delicious soup. Not too salty, which is the common mistake made by others. Full of flavor and delicious gooey cheese. The burger was tasty. Cooked to perfection. Perfectly seasoned. Not a drop of ketchup or mustard. A refreshing difference.

Arrived very early just for hamburgers, which were excellent and much larger than we normally would eat (but we finished them). Cup of tomato basil bisque soup was outstanding, with a very slight peppery quality, and a chocolate bread pudding dessert with fresh berries and vanilla ice cream was delicious. The server recommended a house red--a Central Coast pinot noir that was superb for the low price--soft, bit of berry, bit of chocolate, long finish. Overall, very good experience, with excellent food and wine, good service, and reasonably priced for the area ($95 for two incl 20% tip).

We started with the Goat Cheese crepe on a bed of greens dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and it was wonderful!!! My wife had the prawns and gnoochi which was absolutely heavenly and I had the sea bass which was prepared and seasoned perfectly. The best sea bass I have had in years. Complements to the chef!!. Our server Juan Thor was very attentive even serving other patrons and he offered great suggestions. In addition, they had a jazz singer, Andrea Carter whose voice is wonderful, very soft and pleasing. We even bought her CD!!!

The food was great and the portion was just right. Inside the restaurant was just adorable and full of atmosphere, there was even a guitarist playing and singing. The problem that we had is that we had our dog with us which meant that we sat out on the patio and the problem with that was that there was no butane for the heater. We were cold, very cold! It was not nice and we had to leave earlier than we wanted to.

Food was not cheap but was tasty and satisfying. I had the salmon Benedict. Coffee was blah; not to par. We were asked to move to another table after a larger party walked in. The group decided to eat outside so we didn't have to move. I thought the request was a bit tacky. The main door when open was like a wind tunnel.

We arrived to the restaurant when there were only about three other parties seated. The friendly bartender seated us outdoors at a table of our choice. Things started out ok, but we quickly learned that the bartender plus one bus boy were the only people working that night. As the restaurant filled up, the visits to check on us stopped. When the food was delivered we asked for ketchup that was never brought, and when I realized that there were no prawns in my prawn pasta, I waited for a few minutes to notify the waiter, but he never came back. He seemed very overwhelmed with new customers by the point, so I decided that it wasn't even worth bringing up.

We went there for dinner with my aunt and my boyfriend. We were really disappointed. He barely welcomed us, looking completely overwhelmed and stressed, although there were only 3 tables, including ours. He came back a bit later and was more friendly, but the first impression was really bad. Regarding the food, we were very disappointed by the entree. We ordered cedar wood salmon, which is usually a very savorous and flavourful meal, but their salmon tasted nothing like cedar wood salmon. The rest of the food was good, but without anything noticeable. As this restaurant is located in a commercial area, it is probably a good place for a lunch while shopping there, but I will definitely not recommend to go there for dinner.

Bistro Steak was excellent. Gnocchi was ok, not excellent. Bread pudding was ok, not excellent. Chiani was $8.00. It would have been nice at a few dollars cheaper. We'll go back. We made reservations for Saturday night . We arrived and only one table with two families was there. Odd for a Saturday night. The waiter didn't seem to know we had a reservation at all, not that we needed it but it would have been nice to have a welcome of recognition. The waiter was nice, polite but not that experienced. The value of the food was good and some of the dishes were very tasty -- gnocchi with prawns. The beef stroganoff was more like a beef stew, pretty bland. The prime rib was so-so.
