  • "This was our first time eating here since our previous favorite restaurant in Louisville, L&N Wine Bistro closed. I went in trying to not compare the two and I walked away pleasently suprised. I had the Lobster Hush Puppy to start and let me say next time I wll definetly get more than one of these best thing I had all night. For my entre I got the Crab Cake, Pork Belly Taco and Roasted Red Potatoes. The Crab Cake was perfectly cooked with plenty of crab, the Pork Belly Taco really wasnt for me. I am not a huge fan of salty food and this was just a little to salty for me, again this is just my taste preference. The Roasted Red Potatoes were out of this world when paired with the bone marrow butter. Cant wait to go back."

  • "We've eaten here twice so far and each time it has been outstanding. The food is creative, interesting, and impeccably prepared. I love the three size options. I've gotten two small, a medium, and a side each time. The toro sashimi is outstanding -- I'm a sashimi snob and I haven't had better sashimi anywhere in Louisville. My husband had the pork chop special and he can't stop talking about it -- the best thing he's ever eaten. It's also worth noting that the owner and hosts are Great! Very accommodating and helpful."

  • "This restaurant has nice outdoor dining patio,unfortunately it is also a very busy traffic area.In the time it took to dine there approximately 1 1/2 hours we witnessed a police car with sirens blaring, a fire truck sirens blaring additionally an emergency response vehicle sirens also at full blast and multiple 18 wheelers, Harley Davidson motorcycles revving there engines.Conversation was almost non existent due to the constant issues with traffic."

  • "A friend of mine raved about Bistro 1860 so I went to see for myself and she was right on! The food - every dish we tried - was delicious! The tacos were amazing and the sushi was yummy. The restaurant was very busy for a Wed night, but our server did great. Will definitely go back for another special occasion!"

  • "Bistro 1860 is an outstanding restaurant that has really delicious food. My friends and I went there to celebrate my birthday, and we were delighted with the service, food, and atmosphere. The waiter was very friendly and efficient. We also like the decor. However, the food was the star of this restaurant. We enjoyed the small to large options and ordered several items from the menu. All of them were unique and tasted great! I told my friends that we have to go back and taste all of the other food that we didn't order, during this first visit. Bistro 1860 is definitely a top notch establishment and a really fun place to hang out with your friends. I'll see you all again, very soon! "

  • "We ate at Bistro 1860 Saturday night and had a most delightful dining experience. We were promptly seated and attended to most outstandingly by Marty, our waiter. The food was not only attractively plated, but was equally delicious--that's not always the case in some restaurants. Marty was most helpful with wine and course selections. We appreciate the varying prices for menu items depending on quantity desired (taste, appetizer, full entree'). Overall it was outstanding, our only regret is that we have waited so long to dine here."

  • "We are from San Francisco and found this restaurant to be a delight. Wonderful outdoor patio on a warm night could not have better. The most fun was that we could order different sizes of each item, which allowed for us to try many items on the menu. Everything was great. Our favorite was the rib eye with bone marrow butter. "

  • "The food is extraordinary spectacular! The portions are perfect, servings come in 3 sizes so you can order for your appetite. This is the place that makes you want to photograph your food because it is so beautiful. The servers ands employees all seem to take great pride in the food and restaurant. They are all very interested in making your dining experience a special treat. Even though it is beautiful and formal, it also feels very comfortable, friendly and homelike. Our waitress kept the perfect balance between being available and respectful. Dinner at 1860 is truly a wonderful dining experience. "

  • "What stood out the most was the enthusiastic & knowledgeable server we had. It was my husband's birthday, & we took a chance on an unknown because we had a gift certificate. This gentleman really made it an outstanding experience, and convinced us to return for a future special occasion. It's not an inexpensive place to eat, but it was worth every penny! The half-price wine by the bottle on Monday nights was a great feature!"

  • "While visiting Louisville, we chose this restaurant based on their interesting menu and rave reviews. We were not disappointed. We first enjoyed a reasonable and entertaining wait at the bar with our excellent specialty cocktails. Our dining experience consisted of choosing multiple items through their unique a trios niveaux menu style. We each shared and each loved every item. Steaks and duck cooked to perfection, wonderful salads and vegetables prepared in a unique way, beautiful presentation. The service was impeccable, our server Daniel personable and entertaining. We will recommend this restaurant to all. "

Our favorite dishes included: lobster hush puppies (even my husband who is not a lobster fan thought these were great), red-skinned grilled potatoes, the special salad (wonderful presentation), and the ice cream flight we all shared for dessert.   • "We dined at Bistro 1860 on 5/9/14 for our anniversary and had a fabulous experience. The service, the food, the wine, the ambience...it was all wonderful. The start with the cheese platter was outstanding, only to be equaled by the salad and exceeded by snapper special. The menu offers so many great and varied options you just can't go wrong. We won't wait for a special occassion to be back and will surley make this a regular spot."

  • "Returning to Bistro is like 'going' home. Dining in the Camel Room was the height of romantic with the secluded setting, terrific music, amazing food and drinks/wine. Again, the owner/chef/bartender/waitress were at the top of their game and everything was truly outstanding. You can't leave without trying the 'flight' of ice creams. Brilliant!"

  • "Found this restaurant while on vacation. This was our last dinner after a week of vacation and was our best. 1/2 price wine Monday added to the experience. We started with the waiters recommendation, oysters and lobster hush puppies, outstandiing. For the main course we had the lamb and a seared duck breast. Both cooked to perfection and the sauces were fantastic. We finished off the meal with 3 deserts. 1860 offer 2 or 3 different sized servings for all their food so we could try thing without overeating. Our waiter was outstanding, he made great recs, talked about area and ensured we were not wanting anything. Next time in Louisville, we will definately make Bistro 1860 a must visit. Still have lots of items we didn't try. "

  • "The food at Bistro 1860 was delicious - from the lobster croquette to the homemade strawberry grand marnier ice cream it was fabulous. The best part was that all dishes could be done in one of 3 sizes, making it possible to have a tasting of many lovely dishes. In addition to the dishes mentioned above, we had the scallop dish (small), the sea bass special, and the lamb chops (small). Everything was delicious. We sat at a high table in the bar area and the service was good. The list of wines by the glass was extensive and our server made good recommendations to pair up with the food. Great find."

  • "Five of us chose to venture out from the normal KY Derby restaurants! Boy, were we happy we did! Even though we couldn't get in until 9:30, the service was excellent, the staff knew the menu pretty well, and all five entrees were amazing. Prepared to perfection, even for the picky eaters! Would eat there regularly if I lived in Louisville! Outside dining was also looked like it was cute and comfy! EAT THERE!!! : )"

  • "We loved their choices on the prices and sizes of all the dishes, a neat way to decide what to eat! Enjoyed oysters on the half shell, pork taco, crab cake and the ahi tuna was amazing! Only very small complaint is the maître d wasn't friendly, he hardly greeted us at all. The rest of the service was great but right when we walked in I didn't feel welcome. We ate at 645 on a Friday night so it wasn't really crowded yet, he could have been more welcoming. "

  • "I dined at Bistro 1860 for the first time on my birthday with my family this week. The service and food were excellent. We were sitting in the bar/lounge so it was a little loud. I would have preferred to sit in more of a dining room setting. However, it was a Tuesday so they may have been trying to keep the service in the lounge only. Overall, I had a wonderful time, the food and wine I had was perfect and our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly! "

  • "We met 2 other couples for dinner. Sat on the patio for a drink; can be a bit loud as it is right on the street, but the patio is very nice and service was excellent. When we were seated our waitress was right there and very informative about the menu. Lots of specials not on the menu so you have to pay attention! We ordered several small plates for apps and they were all excellent. Entrees come in 3 portion sizes so you can order what's appropriate for your appetite. Only knock is that 1 entree was 5-10 mins late coming out but they comped that one for us. Definitely will go back."

  • "Once again, the owners and crew of Bistro 1860 made dining at their restaurant something truly noteworthy. From the many entries we sampled to the various wines and, finally, to the parade of unique ice creams, this was an evening that we did not want to end. Few know of the casual upstairs setting which is a shame as it is truly a wonderful environment. Highly recommend Bistro for its approach to dining (different serving sizes), its wonderful cocktails and its terrific wait/bar staff."
