Bistro 185Second time aroundMenu is superb as is the service. Wonderful selection on the entire menu, including the wine list. The 4 of us enjoyed our meals, however I would have preferred less sauce with my veal dish. The banana cream pie is out of this world! A must try at the end of a very good meal. Our Thursday evening dinner was relaxed and quiet. A previous Saturday evening dinner provided a very lively and upbeat bistro.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNice choice of wine and beers.Nice choice of wine and beers. Waitresses were always nearby and frequently asking if you needed anything. Large portions with incredible flavors. A definite “recommend”.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMas always....awesomeThis is our fifth visit...This place rocks...everything is always made on site, and is always a very eclectic fair. Literally the best key lime pie ever...and that include my mother's. Awesome waitress, delicious food; overall...great!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMwe love the bistro!excellent service and an eclectic menu makes bistro185 one of our top dining destinations...friendly and unpretentious with knowledgeable servers and eager to please staff...delightful food combinations made it difficult to decide on dinner...we wanted it all!!!...6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodWe are from out of state and we so enjoyed our first time here 3 years ago that we were really looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. The food is just as wonderful as we remembered - lots of variety and excellently prepared. The wine list is extensive for such a small restaurant with options for both glasses and bottles. Everything is very reasonably priced too. I recommend a reservation on a Saturday night.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food and cocktailsWe really enjoyed the vibrant scene, and the food was wonderful. Cocktails fantastic, and good wervice- the staff made great recommendations.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's always nice to have dinnerIt's always nice to have dinner at the Bistro. I had salmon and it was very flavorful with the thai noodles and vegetables. Had some kind of nut's wrapped in bacon as an appetizer, spicy but sweet. A very nice meal.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy CustomersAt this point, Bistro 185 has a reputation to live up do and it did not let us down. The ever attentive wait staff was extremely helpful with suggestions. One in our party had the Mongolian Pork - incredibly tender and tasty. Two of us had fish - walleye and salmon. Both wild caught, fresh and delicious and served with wonderful sides. All portions were generous.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favoritesEven though distance doesn't let us dine at Bistro 185 on a weekly basis, every time we do we ask "why don't we come here more often?" It doesn't look like a photo shoot for Bon Appetit, (please keep the wooden booths!) but the food is fabulous, the servers are professionals, & we're impressed each time with the extensive menu. The enormous portions cause nearly everyone to go home with another meal for the next day. The presentations are attractive and creative. Often we're tempted to order a few appetizers, a salad and save room for the wonderful desserts. On our last visit, our server knew every menu item perfectly, as she also works the kitchen. Try Romaine Wedge salad, Beef Bourguigon Short Ribs, Double Cut Pork Chop and Chicken Penne.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA neighborhood gem!My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here on friday nite....as a fine dining chef of over 25 years, I can truly say that the flavors and textures of the food were delectable and the service was fantastic! We will be returning again!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was terrific but it'sFood was terrific but it's just too dark of a place. Great variety of menu selections and well priced.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFell in love with Bistro 185We just fell in love with Bistro 185. We all had different entrees. The gravlax, shrimp, flatbread, wedge , field green and ceasar salad all very fresh and well pepared. Servings are geneous. Fabulous service with a knowledgeable and delightful server. Will definitely go back.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food selectionsFantastic food selections at very fair prices. We will be back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's pretty tricky findingIt's pretty tricky finding a place to park on a busy Saturday night, but believe me, it's worth the hassle. From the sweet chili shrimp appetizer to the creme brulee' cheesecake, this place is a real find. The tables are a little "cozy" but if you're the sociable type, it's not uncomfortable. The service is spot on, and we've yet to have a meal that we weren't pleased with. The panko and almond crusted cod, served with a slightly sweet corn pudding and tempura fried vegetables was delightful and the portions are always enough for the next day's lunch. Do yourself a favor and give it a try - you won't be disappointed.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExtensive menu and well-executedExtensive menu and well-executed preparations.
Servcie was friendly and thorough.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Bistro 185We have been to Bistro 185 several times and never been disappointed. The menu is varied and interesting. Specials are well done and the food very fresh. Wait staff are attentive and knowlegeable about the menu. Comfortable making recommendations and friendly. Very enjoyable dining experience. During busy hours parking is problematic but there is a bank across the street that has a parking lot that you can use.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery adventurous menu doneVery adventurous menu done well. This cozy place features everything from frogs legs to burgers accompanied by an ecclectic selection of wines and beers. Our party had a duck appetizer, a warm mushroon salad, chicken and veggie potstickers, chicken schnitzel (with great potato pancakes) and sesami encrusted ahi with noodles in wasabi and peanut sauce. Everything was first rate. Service was friendly and efficient. If you're out near E. 185th, it's a must!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall a great experience.Overall a great experience. The food was great as always and everyone loved their meal. When we first arrived, our table was still occupied so we went to the bar to wait. We tried to joke with the bartender who was very sour and never did take our drink order. It was not pleasant. Our waitress was lovely, personable and very responsive and competent. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and were the last table in the restaurant section. Although there were customers drinking at the bar, we were hurried out so the waitress could leave. I have eaten here many times and this is not the first time our table has been made uncomfortable at the end of the evening so we would leave. Since the bar section is still open, couldn't we have stayed?3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and the variety ofThe food and the variety of choices were truly wonderful. The tables are very close together in most areas which makes it hard for intimate conversation was my only complaint. This was to be expected considering the building used to just be a local bar. The staff was attentive, polite and yet not obtrusive. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and personable. Recommend time for a drink at the bar before dining to start the night right. We enjoyed the entire experience.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
