Diner Reviews
  • "Decided spur of the moment to make reservation. We remembered how great the food was but the service, not so. Had an outstanding meal. The filet was excellent and the sliders I highly recommend. Our server was great initially, but after taking our order only came by to see how the food was once and then at the end of the meal to check for desert. Thank goodness for the hostess and the other servers!!!! Hats off to you!!! I also decided to take desert home and was exited by the thought of chocolate peanut pie. When I got home there was no peanutbutter pie!! Chocolate cake instead. A little disappointing. "

  • "5 of us enjoyed dinner at Bistro 185 this past Saturday. Outstanding gravlax made in house. Scallop preparations were delicious. Cooked perfectly. Bistro Steak Oscar was really enjoyed by 2 of our party. Great service and nice atmosphere - very welcoming. Great Key Lime and Chocolate desserts. This is a go to restaurant."

  • "We sat at the bar and the server couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. We were able to taste 2 samples of wine and then decided on a third which was by the bottle only. The service was attentive but not rushed even though it was a crowded Friday night. We had walleye and halibut, both prepared perfectly."

  • "One of the most varied and creative menus I know of Lobster sea food combo was terrific...smartly spivey I called ahead for their bone in pork chop and was once again treated to a terrific meal It is a slimmed down version and still filling in a more readinable way Will return next occasion!!!"

  • "Checking out a place in a different neighborhood. Tables were so close together I could not get up without disturbing the people next to us. Service was nice, but spotty. My meal (salmon and gnocchi) was quite good as were the appetizers. Other dinner meal (pork chop) was very dry. Dessert was incredible- Key Lime Pie. Huge piece- very good quality. Definitely save room for dessert. Very glad I went there and would probably go again if in the area."

  • "Exquisite food in a casual neighborhood setting. Attentive, friendly service. Generous servings. Food isn't cheap but is a great value. Good choice of wine, very well priced. We all had fish dishes last Friday and they were all marvelous."

  • "Bistro 185 was a great choice for our evening. The food was delicious. Very creative and well executed. Really good service - server was attentive and cocktails delivered in a timely fashion. Props to the bartender for a very good martini. Pork Chop and Scallop and Polenta dish - off the hook ! Best key lime pie. Looking forward to a return visit."

  • "Well blended flavors in each item we ordered. We started with the dates wrapped in bacon and they were wonderful. Food was cooked well. I had the bay scallops and my fiance had the steak which were both amazing. You try to save room for the home made dessert, but even if you take it home its well worth it! We will definitely go back."

  • "I have been to Bistro 185 before and am always happy with the food and atmosphere. I was very disappointed this Saturday when we wound up being seated at 9:00 for an 8:00 reservation. For our inconvenience they gave us one drink. Should have bought a round for the table. I have since heard that they are know for this."

  • "Very positive experience from start to finish. Very nice wine and beer list, excellent calamari, unbelievable bacon-wrapped stuffed pork chop, and the Key Lime pie was great. Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "This was a great place to go, they do not have vegan on the menu, but if you ask, they have a dish prepared. It was nice being able to go out and know I did not need to sub my meal choice or eat a salad. My husband got Fish n Chip, he's not big on seafood, and he though they were great."

  • "There is very little parking, the menu is all over the place (in a bad way), the food looks and tastes like the chef is trying way to hard to be cutting edge, and the chef also has a very heavy hand on the seasoning. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "Im all about seeking out The Gems of Cleveland and this is definitely a gem. Very quaint and intimate atmosphere. Food was Great! I had the Lobster Ravioli dish. The only thing I would comment on is the amount of food presented. For the price I wish there was a little more on my plate! :-)"

  • "Was able to make 9:45p reservations then was told the kitchen closed at 10:00p. Not a good idea at all. Was rushed the whole time. Probably won't ever go back even though it's very close to where I live."

  • "Parking so tight and snow maintenance so awful my girlfriend panicked and asked me to take her home. Went back to eat alone as she never joined me. Eggplant and venison was great. Service annoying and inconsistent. It was all about the server as I felt I was in her way. Not going back. Sorry experience overall."

  • "It's 25 miles one way from our home, but a trip to Bistro 185 is well worth the time and travel. The servers are attentive and friendly, making the dining experice more pleasant. But it's the food that draws us back. Wonderfully prepared meals with portions that meet or exceed what one would expect for the $ fare. Our lunches, a Chicken Cordon Blue sandwich and Turkey platter -- the day's special feature -- were simply excellent. Well worth the drive."

  • "I have dined several times at Bistro 185 and have been delighted every time. The food is consistently delicious, the service is friendly and competent, the atmosphere is cozy and congenial. Every time I go, I say the same thing..."why don't we come here more often?" The answer is that it's a bit of a trek from Solon, but it is definitely worth it! Highly recommended."

  • "This was our first time at Bistro 185 but it won't be our last. We really enjoyed everything about. Great menu selection, excellent drinks, food and service, and terrific ambiance. We came from Rocky River and it was an easy 20 minute drive. Our east side friend recommended it and we're so glad he did. We can't wait to return to Bistro 185."

  • "Richard the bartender was friendly and made the best Pomegranate Cocktail around! Excellent happy hour prices! Kim our waitress was friendly, knew the menu and made excellent recommendations and was very attentive. We had the Walleye with Orzo entre' and the special of the day 'Lobster Newburg". Both dishes were served hot and prepared perfectly! We also had the homemade ice cream for dessert! EVERYTHING TOO DELICIOUS FOR WORDS! Go visit this neighborhood gem! Great value for the quality of food. You will not be disappointed and I know you will be back for more:-) Thank you for making our birthday celebration so special!"

  • "We wanted to find someplace between Eastlake and downtown. Settled on Bistro185, best decision we have made in a long time. Barbara was our server, she said that she had been there since the restaurant opened and it showed, she had incredible knowledge of the menu and what to pair with what. We started with a very nice bottle of wine that was well priced, then pair it with bacon wrapped dates (Barbara's suggestion). I then had the duck three ways and my wife ordered the Day Boat Scallops. The food was so good it was as if the each bite got better and better. We joked that often we look back on a meal and say how good it was, but at Bistro 185, we were amazed at how incredible each individual taste was."

  • "Bistro 185 is great for lunch. The food is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. I love sitting on their patio in the summertime too. Dinner menu is very inventive and luxe, but doesn't have the price tag to match. It's a budget friendly place with 4 star dining."

  • "This was our third visit to Bistro 185. On each occasion our food has been terrific. Although the noise level was a bit high, it was obvious that everyone in the restaurant was having a great time. We brought friends for a first time visit and they were very complimentary about the food and the experience. We will be back!"
