This was our 1st visit to Bistro 185. After an afternoon at a winery or two out in Ashtabula, we stopped at Bistro 185 for a NEW Restaurant Week venue. WHAT A GREAT RESTAURANT! Superb Food and wonderful service. A little loud for my taste, but it was crowded and got a little noisy at times. Wonderful dessert and great wine selections round out a very nice experience. We will return.

I'm a vegetarian and there were 2 interesting sounding items on the menu. I chose the vegan gnocchi with a faux type chicken. The gnocchi was dry without much flavor, even after adding olive oil. Would not recommend it. The field greens salad was very good as well as the Brie appetizer. I can't say much if you eat meat, but I would not recommend it to my vegetarian friends.

  • Not a Happy Birthday Dinner

From the minute we walked in and the hostess was rude until the time we left over two hours later, our birthday celebration was anything but. The waitress didn't write down our menu selections and requests, so the meals came out wrong, it took forever to get our food, and it was not brought out all together, so we had to wait. They kept forgetting to do things we asked - box, check, tea, etc. They also had the air conditioning on which was blowing right on our table. We asked three times for them to turn it off, but we wore our jackets the whole time because it was so cold. The food has always been good, which is why we came for a birthday dinner, but this was beyond bad and it will be awhile before we go back.

Steak Oscar was excellent. Calamari was very good. Wife's trout was only fair - did not taste fresh. Vegetables and Thai noodles that came with trout were very good. Key lime pie was excellent (and huge - had to take some home). Service was very good.

Enjoyed the usual warm atmosphere and friendly, efficient service, but my meal was off. The potato-crusted walleye, which I have enjoyed before, was gloppy--overwhelmed by the potato crust and aioli--and the accompaniments were either scanty (green beans) or undetectable (parsnip puree). It was one of those nights, however, when the company was so congenial, the wine delicious (thanks to a great recommendation by the barkeeper), that I didn't want to complain. Sad to say, the dog got my leftovers.

First time eating at Bistro 185 but definitely not the last. Was there for lunch and requested as private a table as possible. Even though the table we wanted was already reserved, the wait staff accommodated us and sat us in the back booth; Awesome. Started with the bacon wrapped dates; Awesome again. Then had the lunch special, brisket and mash. Tender and flavorful doesn't do this meal justice. It was off the hook good. Can't wait for this Saturday to take my wife.

service was great, I had the tuna and it was very good, it came with some peanut noodles that were bland and did not taste like they were freshly made I left them on my plate after only one bite and when the staff took my plate away nothing was mentioned about the untouched noodles. my husband had the veal scallopini and said it was tough but the sauce was good. I would not recommend this restaurant and we wont go back. this is the second bad experience we've had there.

1st time there, server really knew the menu (big) in my book. Appetizers calamari and Brie The calamari was great and different the Brie could have been a little hotter as I like my cheese oozing but good. The sparkling wine paired well. Entrees well plated and delicious when I return I will definitely get the ahi tuna, one of the guests ordered it and she said it was delicious, I got the salmon it was wonderful I'm very picky about farm raised salmon but this was Faroe Island paired with a Pinot Noir and the real bomb of the evening was the Pumpkin cheesecake probably the best I've ever eaten A Must! Paired with a Muscato A Great evening!

This is my favorite place to go as a couple or with a foursome. The food is fabulous - familiar favorites with foodie presentation and flavors. The atmosphere is lively without being too loud - you can have a pleasant conversation - and comfortable. You can be a little dressed up or really casual and feel equally comfortable. The portions are enormous. The prices are an excellent value for the portion and quality. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have wonderful cocktails and a good wine list and a number of beers available. It's an eclectic mix of neighborhood folks, foodies, and all ages. In short, it's my favorite restaurant.

I love this small, friendly bistro. The food is consistently good, the staff is cordial and welcoming, the service far above average. On this occasion, it was a simple birthday lunch with a friend. We each had the Friday fish and mac special and shared a bottle of wine. A complimentary slice of key lime pie arrived as we finished eating (two forks). Bottom line: two happy customers.

The four of us enjoyed the Glavco (home smoke salmon) and Duck comfit on potato cakes, fresh flavorful salads, not swimming in dressing, tender, well presented rack of lamb, flavorful crab-stuffed Rainbow trout, tuna over noodles and Limón cello chicken breasts. The wine list was extensive, catering to a full range of price points. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, patient and efficient. It all made for a splendid meal.

This was my first visit to Bistro 185. I was prepared for a bit more ambience, but it was comfy and clean. I love a booth. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was warm and thoughtful. The menu had so many delicious sounding choices. My dining partner, my 84 year mother, and I both enjoyed our entrees and the calamari app which we shared. It was a quiet evening, a Tuesday. I would like to return on either a Friday or Saturday to check out the scene.

We had an outstanding meal at Bistro 185 on 8/23/14. Our server was very considerate of my food restrictions - she substituted one item for another. My tuna was delicious. We also appreciated the complimentary dessert that the restaurant gave us for our anniversary. The only downside was the high noise level & the difficulty finding parking, despite the designated lot. My companions also had wonderful meals.

We celebrated our son's birthday at 185. His choice for great beer selection, great wine selection. Barb our server was outstanding. Hard to choose from the 4 chef specials of the day. Compromise: Four people ordered one each of the specials and the remaining 4 people ordered a different item off the menu. When the food arrive, we portioned out the entrees, and every one had a sample. Not one bad choice in the lot. Food was so good 4 of us went back the next night. Just think of sauces and entrees made from ingredients grown on the roof or locally supplied. Don't forget the home made desserts. New Pastry Chef - - Outstanding Carrot Cake or Coconut Cream Pie.

There were 4 of us at the restaurant on Sat. night. Our waiter was obviously too busy. He forgot to bring my friend her second glass of wine which she ordered. Water glasses were never refilled. We had to ask for more bread. They did not split the salads as we asked and they had to take both couples' salads back to the kitchen to split. Both my husband and I felt that the food was very ordinary for the prices that were charged. I ordered a chicken dish for around $20.00 that came laying on a bed of bland egg noodles. It was not very inviting. We will not return to this restaurant.

This table was a nice width, but the length had me sitting very far from my hubby. Also, it was practically like sitting with the next table over because there was only a one and a half foot gap between tables. Lack of privacy there, so it took away the romantic and intimate feel. The staff was notified, and since there were more tables available, they moved us there. From that point, everything was great! Staff was speedy with service, polite, and the food was awesomely!!
