Bistro 185 offers imaginative upscale Bistro food in a congenial atmosphere. Appetizers & entrees change nightly complimented by a dazzling array of delicious desserts.
The food at "Bistro 185" includes ethnic favorites with a twist such as multi–cultural cuisine from a traditional chicken paprikash to succulent lobster ravioli seared day boat scallops & shrimp in lobster sauce or Mediterranean style lamb shanks.
Appetizers include house cured gravlax, frog legs in butter garlic sauce, chicken potstickers pecan crusted goat cheese on greens, warm wild mushroom salad, creamed herring, Asian jumbo lump crab cakes to mention just a few. Featured items change daily based on fresh produce, meats, fish & poultry. We have a fully stocked retro-chic bar offering a variety of unique martinis, a dozen premium beers on tap & a list of 40 plus hand picked wines to choose from.

My husband had the Hangar Steak and said it was perfect. I had the Scallops over Risotto and they were delicious. We'll definitely be back!"

We also appreciated the complimentary dessert that the restaurant gave us for our anniversary. The only downside was the high noise level & the difficulty finding parking, despite the designated lot. My companions also had wonderful meals."

  • "We celebrated our son's birthday at 185. His choice for great beer selection, great wine selection. Barb our server was outstanding. Hard to choose from the 4 chef specials of the day. Compromise: Four people ordered one each of the specials and the remaining 4 people ordered a different item off the menu. When the food arrive, we portioned out the entrees, and every one had a sample. Not one bad choice in the lot. Food was so good 4 of us went back the next night. Just think of sauces and entrees made from ingredients grown on the roof or locally supplied. Don't forget the home made desserts. New Pastry Chef - - Outstanding Carrot Cake or Coconut Cream Pie."

  • "There were 4 of us at the restaurant on Sat. night. Our waiter was obviously too busy. He forgot to bring my friend her second glass of wine which she ordered. Water glasses were never refilled. We had to ask for more bread. They did not split the salads as we asked and they had to take both couples' salads back to the kitchen to split. Both my husband and I felt that the food was very ordinary for the prices that were charged. I ordered a chicken dish for around $20.00 that came laying on a bed of bland egg noodles. It was not very inviting. We will not return to this restaurant."

Stuffed pork chop was great as was the chicken schnitzel. For dessert we ordered the chocolate roulade and we both were completely satisfied. Bistro 185 is for sure a Neighborhood Gem. We absolutely will dine there again and again."

  • "This table was a nice width, but the length had me sitting very far from my hubby. Also, it was practically like sitting with the next table over because there was only a one and a half foot gap between tables. Lack of privacy there, so it took away the romantic and intimate feel. The staff was notified, and since there were more tables available, they moved us there. From that point, everything was great! Staff was speedy with service, polite, and the food was awesomely!! Hidden gem!"

  • "We visit 185 every couple of months. I was impressed by the bacon wrapped dates and dessert (key lime pie) but was not so much by the main course. I feel like the portion size has slowly diminished while prices have gone up. I tried the Hog Snapper, and though tasty, the portion size was small. I don't mind paying for the experience and fare, but expect to leave satisfied. As usual, the service is absolutely excellent, and the drink list is extensive. An overall positive experience."

  • "Having not been to Bistro 185 in a couple of years, we were looking forward to returning. We got a last minute reservation on a Saturday night and were underwhelmed. The service was fine and the crowd seemed to be building when we left. We each ordered a Caesar salad, which was very good but big enough for us to split. I ordered Lemoncello Chicken, one of the evening's special. The sauce was over the top sweet and the veggies, snap peas (weird choice), asparagus and spinach, sparse. The portion was too much so I took half of it home. My husband had the hangar steak and frites which he enjoyed. The bread served with dinner was bland. Maybe it was an off night, but our experience left us both underwhelmed."

  • "It began with a Pink Lady cocktail that was sweet, fruity and sugary and delicious. The Iceberg salad with homemade gorgonzola dressing was crisp and perfect for my husband and I to share. Then comes the art of the evening.I ordered the braised short ribs as I love them. The presentation of the glazed ribs over marscapone polenta topped with arugula was beautiful. I forked into the ribs which were sweet, delicious, cooked until they were falling apart and they melted in my mouth. The marscapone polenta was beyond something I had ever tasted. My husband had the pan fried walleye which was light, flavorful and delicious. The entire event was capped off with their homemade chocolate ganache cake that was a chocolatier's delight. 5 Stars!!"

  • "Bistro 185 is an very good restaurant with an interesting menu, but someone needs to corral the cook. He seems to have a real salt fetish! Last time we were there, we could barely finish a very good fish stew. The salt seasoning was just way too much. While I loved every bite of my walleye this time, the salt was still a little over the top. Salt is a good thing, but just like any good thing, too much can be too much! "

  • "excellent menu and food. mine could've come with a vegetable - was just polenta and short ribs with a bit of arugula. good portions. first table was under a cold vent, but they moved us right away. was not offered bread. richard was a great bartender. when offered dessert menu, was not told could go look in case to see offerings - only saw that when we moved to the bar after dinner."

The sides were prepared with the same level of quality as the main course. Desserts were outstanding! The best red velvet cake I've ever had. Only glitch was the service. The waitress forgot a beer order for one of our party and, while she seemed like she was phoning it in most of the night, she was very friendly."

  • "Decided spur of the moment to make reservation. We remembered how great the food was but the service, not so. Had an outstanding meal. The filet was excellent and the sliders I highly recommend. Our server was great initially, but after taking our order only came by to see how the food was once and then at the end of the meal to check for desert. Thank goodness for the hostess and the other servers!!!! Hats off to you!!! I also decided to take desert home and was exited by the thought of chocolate peanut pie. When I got home there was no peanutbutter pie!! Chocolate cake instead. A little disappointing. "
