Bistro 135 Jazz Lounge & RestaurantGreat dining experience!Dined here a dozen times; always exquisite. Great food, service, music.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food, Excellent VenueDinner on Saturday night for a special occasion. Had ordered flowers and they were on the table when we sat. Had requested upper dining room and we were accommodated. Food was very good, moderate to a little pricey, entertainment was very good. Service was a little slow but we were in no hurry, but it was very professional. We were not rushed at all, although there were many waiting for tables. I would say reservations are a must on a Saturday night. Overall we had a wonderful time and will definitely go back.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasantly surprisedBistro 135 was recommended to me by a friend who is a snob about his food. We made our reservation for 6 through open table.com, which was super easy. As it was my first time using open table.com I wasn't convinced that the restaurant would have our reservation. Happily they did have our reservation. 5 stars for opentable.com!
The hostess was very distracted by something at the hostess table. It almost looked like she was typing a paper, and it took almost a full minute to be acknowledged, which was odd as we were the only ones standing in front of her. The bar area was pretty crowded (it was a Friday night at 7:00), but we eventually got a drink. Aside from that our food was very good, fairly priced, and the atmosphere was great.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBig city bistro in a small townThe food quality, selection, and service is what you'd expect in Toronto or NYC. First visit, just had a selection of appetizers and wine; this visit had salad and entrees. Either way was satisfying for a relaxing dinner out at a fair price for what we got.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper Kudos to all of you at BistroI wish you had more stars to rate this restaurant & their truly amazing staff. Thank you for the last 4 years in your help in raising awareness & a record high of $ 1500.00 in donations for the Upstate NY MS Chapter. ! I was humbled last night by the support, kindness, & genuine concern for MS everyone gave from four years to even in the last few minutes. Thanks to your amazing staff and of course Dave allowing us to come in for 4 years. I hope you realize all of you have made a difference in the lives of the 12,700 people in Upstate NY with MS in awareness of the disease & dollars. Support, kindness, generosity & genuine concern for MS, life doesn't get any better than that and you can't ask for anything better or people.. Thank you all5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem...My wife and I decided to go somewhere we have never been before. We decided on Bistro 135 because of the live Jazz. It was a great decision, we had a wonderful time. Our waiter was extremely welcoming and friendly. We are looking forward to our next visit.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA great findWe love Rochester as we can live in a quiet suburb with city life (in our European interpretation of a "city") and dining just 15 minutes away. A very pleasant surprise was Bistro 135 that is half the distance, in a suburb/village neighborhood that we have apparently regrettably overlooked for years: it has a pleasant sophisticated urban atmosphere (thank you OpenTable for guiding us here) The live music, the atmosphere, and the service were impressive. Food was very good - we chose daily specials, so what was missing from "outstanding" (e.g. the paella was a touch too "muddy" and the shrimp in it overcooked) may be ascribed to experimentation - the soup, the lamb, and the cheesecake were fantastic. We will be back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, atmosphere, and serviceBistro 135 is great! We had their strip steak. It was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The other choices on the menu looked appetizing as well, and it made for a difficult final choice. The service was well-paced and our server was engaging and knowledgable. The wine was paired perfectly with the food, and whole meal fit together well. We had worried that the live jazz would make for a loud dinner, but the noise level wasn't bad at all, and the music added to the ambiance in a good way. Overall, I'd give the place 9/10, the only thing being that the tables are a bit small and it felt a bit crowded for a romantic dinner. However, the food more than made up for it, and I'd like to go a lot, and try all the dishes on their menu.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMForgot our appetizerLiked the food. We ordered an appetizer and it never arrived. No compensation for the waitress ir kitchen making a mistake. They should have given us a free drink or dessert.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AM135 Bistro, good dining experienceFood and service were excellent. Would enjoy a wine list with more Finger Lakes wines, and a broader selection of US and international wines.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect nightGreat ambiance! The food was fantastic, the lobster risotto cooked perfectly and a perfect combination with the asiago. The background jazz trio set the mood for the entire evening. Thanks f or a great night.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodOur first experience at Bistro 135 was a good one. Food was excellent, good wine list, attentive wait staff. There was live music which was enjoyable and they played at a good volume. Not too loud but you could hear it throughout the restaurant.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFat and happy!Food was great for the second time in recent past. Grilled calamari was exceptional. Scallops and sea bass were well complimented with spinach rizotto. Meal well presented and wine suggestions from server were more than satisfying. Good cocktails and jazz all made the evening very enjoyable.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingHosted our NJ family---service, music, food all outstanding. Will return!!!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAll Around OutstandingI would definitely recommend Bistro 135 to all my friends and family. The whole evening was great- the music, the drinks, food and service. Also, it was exceptionally clean. It was nice listening to jazz on a Wednesday evening with a group of friends, truly a great find-
Thanks so much!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNight OutThis was the perfect place for a night out without our daughter. My husband and I had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the food and the entertainment.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were slightly disappointed,We were slightly disappointed, since the musician that was listed on the calendar was not actually performing. Other than that, we had a wonderful time. Bistro 135 is definitely one of our favorite spots.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating a specialWe were celebrating a special wedding anniversary and Bistro is our favorite spot to dine and listen to wonderful music. The chef never fails to impress, our waitress was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly and the music quiet enough to enjoy while carrying on conversation.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed it all Saturday. We enjoyed it all Saturday. The food was delicious and a great portion. The ambiance was wonderful. The entertainment was great but a bit loud for the area. At times we had a difficult time hearing each other over the singing. They were very talented and entertaining though.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fantastic, presentationFood was fantastic, presentation beautiful. Band was fun. We loved our waiter, Benjamin.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been here often. GenerallyI've been here often. Generally Wed are very busy but it was pretty slow this night. Perhaps the lousy weather? Music is great but can be loud for the space4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried the Lunchbox Calamari,We tried the Lunchbox Calamari, the Pecan Chicken and the Pork Osso Bucco, all of which were done very well. The Calamari was tender not chewey and had a lightness about it. We really enjoyed our experience.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was VERY friendlyThe staff was VERY friendly and the food was excellent and priced right! The restaurant has a nice ambiance & decor. The Lobster Risotto was fabulous! Will definitely visit more often!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's the second time we'veIt's the second time we've been here and each time we did a tapas sort of meal by ordering five or six appetizers. Can't speak to the entrées, but the appetizers are great across the board (save for fish, I'm only referring to the non-meat ones). the killer dish was the lobster risotto. But the manchurian cauliflower is fantastic, the lunchbox calamari excellent, the burrata as well. Flatbread pizza is quite good, as was the Ahi Tuna. the first time we had the mussels in an incredibly tasty thai-like coconut sauce.
We prefer downstairs seating as being up with the piano seems like it would be too noisy for conversation (we were about to be seated there our first time but asked to move)4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is popularThis restaurant is popular and has been in business for a long time so they must be doing something right. We do feel the entrees are overpriced (do not include soup or salad). To take advantage of nightly specials one cannot use a coupon or voucher, making this a "special occasion restaurant" for many.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBonus was Gap Mangione playing.Bonus was Gap Mangione playing. Very nice dinner, moderately priced.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMi had requested a item bei had requested a item be left off my plate. When it came it was not the way I requested. I had to wait a long time for a new dish to arrive. the people I was with had almost finished eating before mine arrived.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDependable Delight! This is currently our favorite restaurant in Rochester, because it is consistently friendly but not suffocating, and the food is amazing. Also love the live music!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service wasGreat food and service was great. The prices are on the higher side but the food is well worth it. Love the specialty martini's.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBistro 135 is such a greatBistro 135 is such a great gem in East Rochester. I ordered the mussels appetizer for my dinner with a red curry sauce and they were delicious. My husband had the filet special and it too was wonderful. Our server Kristen, was most attentive and accommodating; however the kitchen was slow to bring our entrees after we had a salad to start. Overall, I would go back and I recommend it highly.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is to dye for! IThe food is to dye for! I highly recommend the fried Calamari, it is awesome. I had the Chicken French and my husband had the Sirloin, both wonderful! This is my second visit and even better than the first! The only complaint I have is the Margueritas need work. They are served in a small glass, not a Marguerita glass and wasn't that great, but again that is my only complaint. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service, greatExcellent service, great food, but a little noisy.. IF your looking for quiet and intimate may not be the best place. Has great jazz music also.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining Experience!Dining here was a fantastic experience. We had a reservation and were seated immediately when we arrived, and service was prompt the entire night. The food was absolutely delicious, the entrees beautifully displayed with big portion sizes. The ambiance was also very nice, and although we could not hear the live jazz music as well as I would have liked (we were in a separate side room), what we could hear sounded great.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an early date nightWe had an early date night dinner on Friday evening.
