Bistro 101 at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts offers gourmet cuisine, in an elegant setting, prepared by the next generation of talented cooks. Our marina-view restaurant serves lunch and dinner, Monday to Friday. Choose from a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts prepared by our talented Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts students under the watchful eye of our European-trained chef instructors.

Monday through Thursday - Join us for 'Market Menus' and enjoy a three-course fixed priced menu with choice of appetizer, entree and dessert for just $20 for lunch and $26 for dinner per person.

Fridays - Feast on our 'West Coast Buffet'. Lunch is $22 and Dinner is $33 per person.

  • "The bistro offered an exquisite dinning experience. My quest and I enjoyed a three course dinner. I started with the appetizer of Cornish hen with a salad and sauce. The entree I chose was veal loin. This was tender and seasoned with two sauces. The meal was completed with a ten layer chocolate cake. The food was very tasty. And the service was pleasant and attentive. I would recommend this for fine dining experience."

  • "We love our dining experiences at Bistro 101. We understand that the staff are culinary students with the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts. They clearly have an excellent program as we dine here quite often and are always impressed with the excellent food both taste and wonderful presentation. The Maitre D' (an instructor as well?) manages an excellent front of the house that always creates a wonderful ambiance. The table settings, the room and that posh service makes this a great restaurant experience. Now we have to plan way ahead to enjoy the wonderful seafood buffet everyone is talking about. Highly recommend this establishment!"

We were amazed at the how delicious the food was, the presentation was impeccable, the choice suited both of us who eat different types of food and we could find nothing at all wrong with the tastefulness, the presentation of the plates and the quality of the food. We are definitely going back again and will try dinner next time! The service was good and the food server was didn't speak English very well but she got the food choices correct. She was pleasant and we were most happy with your establishment."

  • "On Jul 24, we booked Bistro 101 for my birthday @6.30.............about 7.15 class had special celebration; curtains were pulled the noise level was very very loud. I love your restaurant and go there several times a month, however, this was a very bad experience. If you are going to do an inhouse for staff/students, please do not take reservations near that time. It ruined my birthday celebration!!! Usually when I take someone for their birthday there is a special dessert this was not the case, it was an unfortunate experience for an otherwise fine restaurant."

  • "The food was wonderful - salmon, moist and topped with a creamy Hollandaise; lamb, juicy, tender and served with an amazingly tasy jus. Vegetables and accompaniments were lightly cooked, well-chosen and tasty. Seasoning was delicate and allowed the true flavour of the food to show through. Dessert was divine. Orange pistachio pave and chocolate roulade were both rich, beautiful and decadent. Another memorable meal!"

  • "We have been there four times before and have always enjoyed it thoroughly. The same goes for this time unfortunately, it was the waiters second day and he forgot everything (cutlery, taking away plates, bringing coffee, checking back). He was so nervous that he couldn't even smile, and that made it uncomfortable. The saving grace was a gentleman who was obviously a senior staff member at the Bistro who kept on checking on us half way through and was charming and funny and made our day! I guess you have to realize that it is a Culinary School and staff is learning. We will definitely go back again!!!"

  • "Bistro 101 was a delight. The service was quite good - not perfect, perhaps - but this is a culinary school and many are clearly "in training." What was especially noteworthy for us, though, was the food. The presentation was stunning and the flavours were amazing. We simply savoured every single bite. For a $20 three course lunch this was a huge value. And this was perhaps the best meal we have ever had in many years of dining out in Vancouver. Reservations are a must - they turned away all "walk-ins" on the day we were there. Easy enough to reserve on Open Table. We will be back and have probably just become "regulars." Thanks to all at Bistro 101 for a superb lunch!"

We know the ingredients the cooks have to choose from, but the minds at a culinary school are willing to explore just a bit more than at most every other restaurant. The food is good and the presentation is excellent; you might have little hiccups in the service but these are minor and besides, how else are they to learn? NOT very helpful. I was waiting for my party to join me and the server left me sitting at my table, unattended, for 10 minutes.   • "This up-scale training site provides a lovely location, with free parking at Granville Island's entrance. It will always depend on what the students are working on in Their training, so service can vary, but they do try to be tops. The portions for the main course are tiny, served on huge plates, so they fill up the space with garnish or swirls. I'd rather see more food. Reservations are pretty essential, as there is only one seating per table each day. Also they aren't open on weekends. Nice place to bring out of town visitors."

  • "We always enjoy returning to this restaurant, for any occasions, romantic, birthdays, business and with friends. We have never been disappointed. Food is always innovative, never the same and excellent, cooked by students, the service is also courteous and welcoming, with a nice touch of appetizers before your meal and the view of Granville Island Marina is fantastic. Wednesdays the wine is half price, which is a good idea. You can see the kitchens from the dining area, and the students hard at work. The desserts are the best I have ever eaten! especially chocolate ones. I still haven't had the pleasure of tasting their seafood buffet on Fridays, it's always booked well ahead of time. A real popular event. Can't wait to go back."

  • "We have been to Bistro 101 several times, mostly for special occasions. We are never disappointed with the food or the service. It feels really nice to support the students who are learning the trade. It is apparent that these students take their learning and application of the restaurant business seriously. They want to do their best. This applies to all of them from the servers to those in the kitchen. The food is always outstanding for such value. The ambiance certainly matches the food and service. What a great location. We will always return to Bistro 101."
