Diner Reviews
  • "Love the energy here! I'd recommend the Benedicts - so good. This is a great place to have bottomless mimosa group brunch - the servers know what they're doing and how to handle crowds."

  • "Chef/owner comes out of kitchen to greet every table every time I've been there? Yes. Service good everyone very nice. Busy. Food is great price for the quality. Will continue to visit."

  • "Went here for brunch and was really disappointed. The service was terrible. They had no duck (the only reason I went there was for the duck confit benedict). The benedict's we did order were bad; there was more bread to the benedict than there was anything else. The eggs weren't poached, they were hard boiled-- even I can poach an egg better than that. The music was also way too loud for a Saturday morning. We will not be returning."

  • "If your focus is on the FOOD and service, this is the place. Predictible quality with fresh ingredients and staff that make you feel welcome and that they really care about your satisfaction. Their only "attitude" is to make your meal enjoyable. Brunch has been as enjoyable as dinner."

  • "You know the food is good when all 5 of our plates looked like they were licked clean. The scene was very lively and who doesn't like bottomless mimosas. I would highly recommend this place for brunch. Ain't no brunch like a Castro brunch:-)"

  • "While I appreciate a good place to serve me mimosa pitchers, decent food and some techno while I eat, I unfortunately would have enjoyed this 15 years ago. It's loud, crowded, smells musty from the people who just rolled out of bed too hung over to shower. Again, if you can care less about these things, go for it. I personally could have done without it."

  • "Booked a Saturday afternoon brunch reservation 3/29/14. Arrived on time to find the place utterly packed -- I mean fire hazard packed -- could barely even get in the door to check in with the maitre d'. As we began our reluctant wait to be seated, it became clear they had a major reservation backlog on their hands. They just began calling out, "Reservations for 5? For 4?" hoping to seat any larger party as a table opened. After waiting for 20 minutes, we gave up and went down the street to Pesce where there was no wait for a delicious, noise-free, non-crowded brunch. I've been to Bisou before, the food is good and I'll try again, but they need to not overbook reservations. Until then, take a lot of patience if you decide to eat there."

  • "My girlfriend and I both had the Steak Frites which was incredible. The onion soup was apparently only okay (she had some, I did not) but otherwise we had an awesome time. Creme Brulee was great as well."

  • "Decent food if your going out for a quick bite. Clean restaurant, bar atmosphere, noisy. Good service and friendly staff. Won't be going back but didn't hate it. Seemed more to be 'good bar food' rather than good food at a restaurant."

  • "This place is super fun, great location in the castro. Brunch is AMAZING - food and bottomless mimosas - and the service is great, fast, and entertaining"

  • "This place is NOT conducive to children. They sat us 30 minutes late to our table, which was practically inside the bathroom. It was also basically a club during the middle of the day. I love techno music, but not blaring at noon on a Sunday. The food was ok. Sub par for San Francisco. Some of the chairs were missing backs and the manager or owner was quite rude. The waitress was nice until the end when she "kindly" stated we could finish our drinks downstairs. Needless to say, they didn't make us feel very welcomed. It was more like a "get you in, get you out" kind of place. We won't be back mainly because the food wasn't that great."

  • "We celebrated my partner's 72nd birthday here with friends/family. The service was fabulous, the food delicious, and the wine was out of this world. For a small intimate experience, I can see this place is perfect. We will be back!!!"

  • "Went to Bisou a few nights ago with a couple of friends for an intimate catch-up dinner. Always heard of people mentioning about Bisou but just didn't have a chance to explore its dining experience until then. Service was great, did enjoy the waitress who'd occasionally delight us with her fluent French. Food was moderate."

  • "Only Pre-fixe menu available. Five very small courses, enjoyed two out of the five. Expensive meal for two persons for the quantity and quality. Had better meals here during Dine About Town."

  • "I had the Shrimp Salad and the Steak Frites. The three sauces served with the steak need improvement. They taste like they came out of a can. The bernaise was bland, the other two sauces were just horrible. The mini mushrooms had absolutely no flavor."

  • "I ordered the seared scallops with poached egg. It was delicious. Bloody mary's were fair, but not fancy. It seemed like it could have been make from a pre-mixed packet. I sat upstairs, which was very loud from such loud music, and it was difficult to hear people at my table."

  • "Friends and I had another wonderful meal. And the waiter/owner is so pleasant. We love this place."

  • "We were able to make a reservation and got there late and with one person less, and they made no fuss! Seated us promptly and we still had an amazing brunch!"

  • "I had the intention of tasting from the Dine About Town menu, but realized that it wouldn't have been that great of a deal. A pretty good menu, but I saw some things on the regular menu that I really wanted to try (duck confit). I ended up ordering my own 3 course meal for maybe a couple bucks more. The service is awesome and the staff is super friendly. They've got a nice ambiance. If you're ok with sitting very close to other people in a pretty loud environment, then Bisou isn't that bad. It can get loud, but I was able to have a conversation across the table without yelling."

  • "We went during Dine About Town week and had the prix fixe menu. The menu was well thought out and sounded great, but execution was... disappointing. Ingredient quality = mediocre. Some things were too salty, some too oily. I would chalk it up to the restaurant bulk-preparing the Dine About Town items ahead of time, except even our drinks were not up to par. (Wine was either a bad selection or not stored properly, and the cocktail was unbalanced and uninteresting.) The atmosphere is architecturally very interesting, but if you're going to do contemporary matte white walls, you need to keep them fresh and clean. Lighting was uncomfortably cold. Meal pacing was very fast - drinks and 3 courses in and out in less than an hour."

  • "They need more people for lunch time. We always needed to flag the waiter to get more water and coffee. The waiter who took our order did not even bother to write the orders down and thus made a mistake with two of them."

  • "I've been to Bisou many times and were always satisfied with their food and portion sizes. I however, was very disappointed this time when we went there for Dine About Town. I was quite embarrassed as I was raving to my sisters that they must come try this place. The portions were so much smaller than before. I normally order their filet and in the past, it was a good size portion, now all I got were two small little fingerling pieces of beef that I just cut into 2 pieces and I was done. My sister got even much less than I did. She ordered the scallops and long and behold there were only 2 scallops with maybe not even a spoonful of risotto in there. We went out for pizza afterwards. Not cool."

  • "I really wanted to like this restaurant but unfortunately I do not think that I will be returning if given the choice. The ambience was nice and the noise level was just right for the level of casualness. We had the Dine about Town menu and I ordered the following: French Onion Soup - Good, although I prefer my soup to be warmer. Sole Fillet - The sole was so salty I could not finish it. The pesto filling was unfortunately off putting; it tasted as though someone had mistaken kale for basil. Something was terribly bitter and the combination of the overly salted sole and the bitter pesto did not work at all (it had a murky taste). Tart - Good. The overall experience was good, but unfortunately all in all, the food was not good."

  • "Small tasty portions using interesting ingredients. The cheese souffle and boeuf bourguignon were excellent. Friendly greeting and good service."

  • "We both had the salad to start. The lightly dressed frissee was scattered with pomegranate seed, adding a piquant note. We were pleased with our entrees. I had the scallops and she had filet mignon. At first, I was disappointed by the small portion, but the meat and the sauce were so rich that a third scallop would have been too much. We finished with the vanilla bean creme brulee with fresh berries which had a glassy crust of caramelized sugar shattered with a tap of the spoon. All in all an enjoyable meal."

  • "Always ready to explore new places on Dine About Town. For once parking was not a prob-we were seated in an elegant bankete area. But the chairs were hard a The Dine menus were easy to read - everything sounded good. We chose a variety of starters- a salade decompose that the chef decomposed at the table---no flavor, no real taste. The escargot were in an unusual fashion and also lacked flavor and tasted old. The green salad was quite nice. For entrees: steaks-nice but the vegies were also a mystery. The sole dish was ugh/ The chicken dish was just fair. Plates were cold The creme brulee ok, the chocolate dessert was also just barely fair. The rhone wine was ok BUT the prices too high. The wine menu: almost unreadable. No return for us"

  • "This is a great place if you are looking for a great "Sunday Funday" brunch spot with your friends so long as you know what you're getting yourself into. Bottomless Mimosas, very loud dance music, decent food, decent service."
