Biscuits & BluesGet ready to rockMusic is consistently soul-stirring. It's fun to look around the audience and observe young and old alike rocking to the beat. Service is great. No bad seats in the house. We love the small basement venue, similar to a Chicago speakeasy. Cover charges remain reasonable considering the rich return in entertainment. Food is so-so, and a bit pricey. That said, we attend for the music, not the food.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMCoco Montoya 6/2/13A great night of Blues in the city.
Coco played 2 good sets (SOLD OUT 1st set!)
GREAT Guitar and awesome backing band. Keyboard player was on his game for sure......
Food was excellent as usual and the server made sure we were well taken care of.
Great spot to catch a show if you get the chance.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBlues ClubDinner and a show, what a great evening out! fun downstairs blues club with food. limited southern menu, but very tasty.
we went specifically to see Coco Montoya, a national blues recording artist. Tight band, good blues guitar, solid vocals and super energetic crowd!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gig, small tableWent there with a colleague from work to hear some blues. Even though we reserved online, there were only about 12 people at the 20:30 show and everything pretty empty. Still we got seated at a very small table... which was a bit annoying. Otherwise it was a great experience, both music and food-wise!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect end to a great day.We knew our friend Earl Thomas was performing, but what we didn't know was it was going to be a truly spectacular night! The food was wonderful, the service (Tressa?) was outstanding and the atmosphere was just right.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGet there early! We arrived at our exact reservation time (7:30) and table selection wasn't too good.
Also our late arrival meant we got slightly rushed service by the wait staff.
Food quality was excellent. The shrimp over cheese-grits was absolutely delicious!
Prices are very reasonable considering this fantastic location.
We will be back (earlier than last time!)
P.S. Earl Thomas put on a knockout show!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMuch Improved! We returned to Biscuits & Blues after our last visit of 2 years ago and found the food and service to be much improved. We really enjoyed the meal and the band was great!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful night outMyself and daughter from New Zealand ,joined by son from Toronto for a week of fun. The night at Biscuits And Blues was the definite highlight of trip...food was great....entertainment fabulous, staff very professional and fun. Will definitely go back next time in San Francisco.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Music Good Food!I love this place. One of my favorite date nite spots with the hubby. Food is excellent & the service is great!!!!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBeerMy one suggestion is your beer list. With all the great microbrews up and down the west coast, why are you serving blue moon and Samuel Adams. How about lagunitas, lost coast, thirsty bear, drake, deschutes, rogue
????? You really should have some real beer.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFor Blues lovers...Great intimate Blues venue...yumm Southern food...pepper braised brisket, delish!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery goodGood food, reasonable prices, friendly service and fantastic venue if you like blues5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMfunEnjoyed the Southern style cuisine - Fried Chicken, spicy greens and the Catfish. Nothing particularly special, just good and wholesome. Music was great fun to accompany dessert (Cobbler and Vanilla bean ice cream).5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFlying visit from New ZealandWe were in San Francisco for a couple of nights and wanted to hear some live blues in a city club. Biscuits & Blues was perfect. An intimate room giving great connection to the performers (Chris Duarte), an enthusiastic but respectful audience. The food was great, just as advertised, we had fried chicken and a catfish po'boy along with a good Californian Cabernet recommended by our waiter.
A great night out.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy Shrimp and GritsMy mom was visiting San Francisco back in October and was treated to dinner at Biscuits and Blues. She raved about the speakeasy feel of the basement lounge, the high quality of the entertainment and the most delicious biscuits and fried chicken she'd had in some time. So while visiting my son, we decided to check it out. We shared not only the fried chicken dinner but also shrimp and grits. While the chicken was superb, the shrimp and grits stole the show. Every mouthful was a creamy, savory delight.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Entertainment and AtmosphereWe visited Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco while on vacation. Surprisely, the flight attendant on our flight from Houston told us about this club. It turned out to be one of our most enjoyable nights in the city. There was dancing, entertainment and food so would definetly come back again.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMYou go there for the great blues! One of the best blues joints in North America. Always top notch. Southern menu is okay but that's not why you go there. Some interesting cocktails!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat entertainmentFantastic for the Entertainment. We saw Alvon Johnson, and that was one of the best shows we have ever seen. We had seen him before, and when we heard he was playing, we went straight there after a 12 hour flight from London. The food is not as good as it was 18 months ago. No vegetarian options at all except for some weak nachos (bring back the jambalaya!) and the Bloody Mary was bland. Luckily we went for the entertainment.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI like Biscuit and Blues andI like Biscuit and Blues and the performer, Shemekia Copeland, was outstanding, not only a good singer, but a great entertainer. I reccomend this restaurant if you like good blues music, and outstanding traditional southern style soul food.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I had a greatMy wife and I had a great time. The food and drinks were good and the music was kickin!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSeems strange that I wouldSeems strange that I would recommend a Blues venue for kids, but the early show was as family friendly as they advertised. We were pleasantly surprised by the tasty Southern fare. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgable in recommending gluten free choices for some of the diners at our table. Everyone enjoyed the music and the food.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great time. The foodHad a great time. The food was good and the entertainment was great! Good service too!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a place to hear greatThis is a place to hear great music AND have a good meal. Our server was truly amazing, really hustling to make everybody comfortable and happy. The food was delicious and came out in a timely way. I miss the crab cakes from the old menu but was happy with my catfish.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Blues clubSaw a fun blues band here and the place was set up great.
The audience was a bit dull for the band.. not enough dancers..
The food was ok- it has a New Orleans feel to the place.
Would go back to see a band.
It was an expensive night at about $300 bucks for 4 of us for dinner, admission and drinks..4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed ourselves andReally enjoyed ourselves and the Dennis Jones group which was especially pleasing as I haven't been to a jazz club in years!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe dress code is quite casual...MyThe dress code is quite casual...My experience there was absolutely wonderful!!!! It was my first time there, I did not know what to expect, the food was delicious, the performer was energetic...OUTSTANDING! I am usually a laid back person(could be considered a "Bump on the Log"), however Earl Thomas and the Ambassadors will leave you wanting more, FANTASTIC. I will definately be going back to BISCUITS and BLUES to see Earl Thomas and perhaps other performers.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMKaren Lovely was amazing -Karen Lovely was amazing - we had a great time with wonderful food!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood music and food. Bad booze.Music was great. Food was very good. Service was nice. However, do not order mixed drinks. They were the worst cocktails we have ever had (Martini, Lemon Drop, etc.). Just have a beer when you go. We'll be going again but someone should talk to the bar manager about their product. It was a little weird that the liquor would be so off.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)Our experience at Biscuits and Blues was fantastic!!! The southern-inspired food was delicious! ... salad and gumbo, prawns and salmon, buscuits! ... and the music was unbelievable!!! The Alan Iglesias Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan couldn't have been closer to the real thing (tho' we sure with the "real" Stevie was still with us) ... and if the band ever returns to Biscuits and Blues, we will DEFINITELY return, too!!! ... if not sooner.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the best server ever.We had the best server ever. Food was fantastic and the music most enjoyable. We'll be back.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
