Made a reservation for 515p. I didn't specify dining room or bar area because I had never been to this restaurant. We were seated immediately in the dining room which was virtually empty at this hour except for the few families having dinner. My boyfriend and I asked to be seated in the bar area if possible. We were told they would try but turns out all the tables in the bar area were reserved so we chose to sit at the bar. The bar staff was great but the drink of the week was way too sweet. We had the duck pizza which was tasty but way to sweet as well . I ordered the wild boar bolognese pappardelle which was awful. It tasted as though someone took a bbq pulled pork sandwich and tossed it into the pasta. Sadly, we won't be returning.

There's so much to like about Birroteca - the enthusiastic, attentive service by its friendly staff; its inventive menu that always manages to surprise while still being comforting; the shabby chic surroundings; and of course, its remarkable beer menu. Every time I bring an out-of-town guest there for dinner, they are more than impressed - as am I!

My husband and I have been wanting to try Birroteca for awhile now, and are so glad we finally did. We enjoyed the food very much - everything was fresh and tasted great. The bar, which is in an adjacent room to the restaurant, seems very lively and a fun place to grab a drink. Service was good, but I didn't care for the super-casual way the servers were dressed - I don't normally care about this kind of thing, but it would have been a little nicer if they were dressed in something other than flannel shirts, jeans, t-shirts, etc.

On our way downtown for a concert event with friends we stopped in to have dinner beforehand. We asked to be seated in the bar area rather than in the dining room. Everything was top-notch. Service was excellent, food was fabulous, and the atmosphere was warm and lively! If you are a fan of artisan pizza you will love Birroteca, however, they do have other offerings and specials not related to pizza. The ceasar salad was delicious and hearty in size. We opted for the mushroom pizza and asked them to change out the sauce (tomato was our choice). Perfect pizza and tremendous beer selection. We cannot wait for the Bel Air location to open at the end of October. It will be our new favorite spot for pizza in a great atmosphere!

Made reservations for dinner before a show at the lyric. Was a little farther away than we wanted but could find any reservations at the time frame closer to venue. It worked out great! As luck would have it because of horrible Friday nite traffic we were late for our reservation but they were still accommodating. Service was excellent dishes were cleared promptly and several other than our servers stopped to make sure everything was good.

Our table for 7 was in the bar room - big mistake if you want to hear anyone. Eat early and sit in the dining room for better service, reasonable noise level and a better experience. We have eaten at Birroteca several times. The pizzas are top-notch with usually attentive service. We'll be more careful when go next time.

I have been to Birroteca a few times prior to this occasion. We selected it because everyone has always had a great experience there. I was a bit worried because I had been hearing from several people that it had gone slightly downhill. However - we had a terrific experience there. The service was great both at the bar and the table. The food was certainly on par - the pizza was not my favorite, but I think that had more to do with what was on the pizza and much less to do with anything else. We had two bruschettas - they were both fantastic! The Caesar salad was as you would expect it to be and the pizza was certainly tasty (the cipolla) - I just would have preferred a different flavor! All in all - it was a great experience!

Birroteca's food was good, but even with an advance reservation, we were placed in a spot where my friend was constantly being bumped by the waiters as they came by. The individuals at the bar started spreading out and were essentially standing right next to our table while we were eating dinner. And while we could hear one another, it was definitely too loud to have a quiet conversation.

I LOVE their pizza! Get the Duck Duck Goose and Cipallo pizzas. Yum! I also had their Basil-Berry Smash and it was delicious. Staff is very nice and energetic. It was really noisy in there. There were a couple of groups in the room we were dining in and the sound just bounces around. I felt like I had to yell for my boyfriend to hear me. Other than that, it's great! Go there!

For a Saturday dinner, they had run out of one of the specials and one of the desserts. We were misled thinking there would be a large beer selection like the website menu noted but that was not the case at all. Pizza was disappointing, definately not what a $17 pizza should be. One of our friends had the mushroom one and absolutely loved it. We also had the meatball one and the spicy fennel one... toppings were few and lumped in one area. I don't know if we would go back, we actually left and went to their other restaurant, the Nickel Taphouse in Mt. Washington and was wondering if it were a better fit for us, we are going to try there for dinner another day.

Outstanding service. The waitress (and chef) was very accommodating dietary restriction, accepted a request to modify the sides accompanying the main entree for the day with a creative and delicious solution. The overall menu composition was very good. Some of the portion sizes, i.e. Octopus appetizer had about 5 razor thing slices mixed with the same amount of slices of radishes. We all thought it deserved a few more pieces of Octopus but the flavor was excellent. The Calamari a la plancha was more of what we expected as far as size, the flavor was good and the texture was great, the flavor came out more after squeezing the lemon wedges.

If you want a fun night with friends and good pizza and beer, this is the place. The tap selection is always good and usually themed. We hit the beginning of Octoberfest/Fall Beers and were delighted with the choices available. The fried brussel sprouts were excellent and highly recommended. The pizza selections are not as varied as some places, but each have great flavor and are unique. The meat lovers will embrace the house-cured specialties, while our vegetarian friends also enjoy the white pizza with cauliflower. The only peculiar thing about our visit was that on this particular Friday night, there was a peculiar absence of boisterous bar goers. The typical noisy large bar area was practically empty. Not sure why, just weird.

I came to this restaurant as it was recommended by friends. It was attractive inside, but parking is rough. The bar is active and friendly, but the food was a great disappointment. The Brussels sprouts were so intensely roasted that they were black, I would not have served them. The salad I had was covered with black pepper which I did not ask for. The pizza , not all that interesting, and tasted as it had been sitting around for awhile. They offered us a dessert for free , which was kind, but the desserts are so small, not something u would share.

Made a reservation on September 9th for the 16th and was seated in the bar, at the kitchen exit for the servers. it was difficult to hear each other and friends stopping by could not stand near us without blocking the way. While the meal was delicious, $50 for two entrees, a beer and a glass of wine seem a little steep without salads, sides, or even some complimentary bread. One of our two servers stopped me on the way out to ask if I had settled the bill, which I had done with the other server.

My husband and I loved coming because we enjoyed the pizza, but were saddened with the quality this past visit. The pizza sauce was awful, it tasted strongly of vinegar and the vegetables seemed old. I was looking forward to dinner here, but I am sad to say I won't be back unless it's for just a beer.

This place was really great. Food and service was spot on. The one negative was a major one: It was too loud!! I had a really hard time hearing my dinner guest who was sitting just right across the table from me. For that reason, this may not be an ideal location for an intimate dinner with a significant other unless the restaurant is willing to seat you in a more secluded space from the main dining room.

I've been to Birroteca before so the ridiculous noise level was, sadly, expected. But why the lack of organization at the host desk and with the service? It really isn't hard for one to receive guests pleasantly and politely...a group waiting when we came in finally said "We want our table now!" They were seated. Why did they have to demand to be seated? I was asked by three people, who seemed to rotate in and out of the host area, if we had reservations, and then that our table wasn't ready, yet there were five set tables in front of us. Finally taken upstairs, we suffered through shouts from a football-watching group. All in all the staff seem disorganized and ill-trained. After this I'll really have to be enticed to Birroteca again.
