  • "I've been to Birk's many times and had always enjoyed the quality food, great service and nice ambiance. This visit, we arrived at our reservation on-time, to a very busy dinner service and packed bar area, which I hadn't counted on for a Thursday evening. The hostess led us to a table adjacent to the bar and we couldn't hear ourselves talk. We literally had to yell across the table. I commented to the hostess that I'd assumed our reservation would get us a table in the main dining area. She said I should have made a special request for that. The calamari was limp and rubbery. The steak was over-cooked. They're usually spot-on with temperatures, so this was an unpleasant surprise. We'll be back, but this time was a big let-down."

  • "If you go for lunch, request not to be seated in the area behind reception. Not sure if they are trying to increase availability but it ruins the service level and experience. I could not hear the person right next to me and the servers kept bumping my chair while servicing other tables. Since when did they put meat paper placemats over the white tableclothes? Tacky as my business associate pointed out. I was embarrassed for suggestibg this restaurant. That said if you sit at the bar and get Suzie's area you are guaranteed a grade A+ experience. "

  • "I've been to Birk's about once a year for the past couple of years. The food has remained excellent, but the wait-staff and ambiance has suffered. It's now very noisy and the staff were not helpful when I asked to be moved to a quieter table. I think I'll look for another restaurant in the South Bay to call my favorite."

Then, when they sit you right next to the kitchen, when there's a booth open right next to you, next to a window (that's open the whole time you are there), says a lot about their focus on Customer Service. Then, the special was under-cooked. Not sure I will even try this place again... This was all a Monday lunch experience..."

  • "The hostess (she was very nice) escorted us to a table for 2 right beside the service bar. When I requested a different table, we were offered another table in a narrow corridor. I declined and we decided to sit at a high top in the bar. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very good and very accommodating to my wife's numerous allergies. I did notice that the better tables remained empty during our dinner. My wife's Sea Bass was over cooked and more like swordfish. The experience could have been so much better. Not a bad experience due to the excellent service, but there are better options for the price."

  • "My wife and I had our first visit to Birks and we had a wonderful dinner with great food and excellent service. We will definitely go back again soon. I had the peppered rib eye steak with Garlic Mash potatoes and my wife had the prime rib. prices were what we expected from a higher caliber restaurant, so no surprise. Everything was great!"

  • "My wife and I had dinner at Birk's mid-week - probably wasn't the best idea due to the several large business groups. They were having great fun and enjoying themselves. Speak well of the establishment but not a good romantic dinner. Weekends are likely to be better. Great food, great service, just very loud."

  • "My husband and I don't come to Birk's very often, although we both agree we should. We wanted to try the 25th Celebration 3-course Prefix Menu. My husband ordered the Prime Rib (nice taste of smoky bacon), I ordered the Skirt Steak (with spicy red sauce). Both dishes were excellent (with tender meat and well prepared veggies) and just the right size for three courses. We started with a flavorful Lamb and Vegetable Soup with a rich broth and tender lamb. We ended our meal with the mini-desserts of White Chocolate Cheesecake and Dark Espresso Fudge Cake -- both were yummy and so as mini was we were expecting. Excellent meal! Excellent experience!"

Restaurant offers excellent wine and liquor selections. Entrees for five diners were not only delicious but very ample servings provided. Restaurant appears to offer outside dining and is situated among office business park setting which makes it an excellent choice for upscale business lunch as well. Easy and free parking adjacent to restaurant."

  • "I ordered the calamari and bone in rib eye cooked median rare. The calamari must have been sitting around as it wa not longer crispy and its temperature was lukewarm. Even though I ordered a median rare steak, the steak arrived median well and the server kept making excuses and behaved passive aggressively. In addition, this server was also not attentive. It was difficult to flag him down for service. I dine at Birks quite frequently. This was the worse experience I've had there."

  • "As everyone knows (or should know), Birk's is a traditional Silicon Valley lunch spot, and also offers good opportunities to meet over drinks/dinner as well. They have good food, good beers on tap and a decent wine list, and are centrally located to many companies. Not sure who owns them now that Birk passed away, but the restaurant/bar doesn't seem to have changed much over the years. One plus is the Oyster bar where you can have an afternoon snack and drink with a buddy. Have fun!"
