The zucchini ribbons were a little greasy, but other than that the meal was wonderful. We were seated upstairs, which was perfect for a girls night/birthday dinner.   • "Overlooking the new Sundance Plaza and it's fountains is another winning restaurant by Shannon Wynne. New takes on old pub favorites like Bison Bangers and Mash . Wonderful share plates including quail, fried and fresh oysters, crispy duck wings, lamb and rice grits. Four different takes on mussels, Rabbit pot pie, steak and Stout pot pie, etc. The special that night was Snapper on a wood plank with a mango salsa - easily the best fish dish we have enjoyed in a long time. Our server, Tamara, was very knowledgible and helpful, service was attentive but not overbearing. We will be back."

  • "The service was excellent. The menu had the small plates which are great for sharing with a group of friends. the names of the mixed drinks are a topic of discussion but are delicious. We would return again. Did not know about the outdoor dining on the square until after dinner. Would have liked to have been asked by the hostess for seating. A little hard to find from the street in your vehicle not well marked."

  • "There is nothing boring with the Bird Café. The unusual menu, with its exciting combinations is tempting and rewarding. The wine selection is excellent (not inexpensive) and the service is memorable. The informal atmosphere in the Sundance Square setting makes this a perfect experience for those of us Texans who like informality and quality in a mixture."

  • "Food and drinks were good, but service was very slow. Worst part was giving us the after dinner drink menu, but then didn't come back to see if we wanted to order till after we had completely finished our desserts. We were seated upstairs and it was VERY warm up there."

  • "The restaurant offers a "shareable" menu and traditional. We were excited about the "shareable" and had mixed reviews. First we ordered a salad and a pot pie. We received the pot pie first and was told it was the last one so they wanted to make sure we got it?? We had just started on the pot pie and our salad (ceasar)showed up?? Both were sooo good we could not complain. then we ordered the bangers and mash, duck wings, and asparagus. We received the bangers and were a little disappointed not a lot of flavor, we finished them then got the asparagus. And after some time got the duck wings, and were not what we were expecting. I have to say the first 2 dishes were so good we will go back and try something else, perhaps the non shareables."

  • "Great restaurant. I would actually give it 4.5 stars. The only reason I deducted any points is because I was comparing it to their sister restaurant in Dallas, The Meddlesome Moth. Even though the menus are nearly identical, I think the food at The Moth has a little more flavor. And I was really hoping for a similar beer selection as well."

  • "My wife, two daughters, and I had a Saturday night meal at Bird Cafe this past week. The setting was good but the food was disappointing. We tried a few things that seemed like they had promise for teen-agers and adults - baby-back ribs, a bacon dish, steak kabobs. The ribs and bacon were loaded with fat with very little meat, the steak was raw, and the vegetables we ordered to accompany the meal were exceedingly bland. We eat close to home often- The Tavern and Inzo's - and this experience made us feel validated in not branching out so much."

  • "Our group of 5 went to brunch recently. The food selections and quality was very good. The Mother and Child reunion was the table favorite. We were a little disappointed in our order of biscuits, smaller then we expected and nothing special about the taste. The zucchini cake with praline pecan ice cream serving was large enough for the 5 of us to enjoy. It was excellent."

  • "This is a great location for bite and glass of wine and the service was excellent. Downstairs very loud, but upstairs perfect. We ordered 8 small plates during the evening and found that the description of the food sounds better than it is. We found parking difficult, recommend Valet parking option"

  • "We went here to celebrate a birthday with friends, and really enjoyed ourselves. The building was built in the 1880s and much of the original detail has been preserved. Yes, the restrooms are upstairs, but it's worth the trek up the stairs to take in the charming Victorian details. As for the food, it's done small plate style, so sharing is encouraged. It's a bit of a new way of eating for us aside from when we go out for sushi, but we loved it. I enjoyed getting to taste so many different things. Everything was delicious, particularly the bacon lollipops (which were almost like dessert with the funnel cake and maple sauce). The only miss was dessert, their menu was a bit lacking, and one of the 2 desserts we ordered was terrible."

  • "The first impression was that of an overcrowded table layout. It was difficult to squeeze past other diners. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Sampled a number of starters including the deviled eggs (wife liked, I did not), moth balls (both thought bland), and chicken skins (literally chicken skins with sauce - OK). The beet salad was very nice. Entree was the cod and chips. The fries were wonderful but the cod was only OK - the breading was too heavy. The service was great until a table of 10 was seated next to us - then the service basically stopped. I had to ask twice and wait 10 minutes for a water refill. The entree arrived very late. Great location - marginal execution."

  • "We tried Bird Cafe before an event at Bass Hall. We were quite late due to a mammoth traffic mess and they were very gracious about finding us a table. The server said he would get us out in time and he did even had time for coffee and dessert ( berries ,ganache, baked meringue cup). Bird is a small plate place so. We had hummus with pita bread, cheese and meat plate, shrimp and grits, deviled eggs, and ?. Everything was delicious, favorite was shrimp& grits. Very pleased with food and service, definitely a go to place for Bass hall events, it's just across street from Bass. Servings were generous, 2 per person probably enough. Overall a winner."

  • "Drinks took over 10 minutes and the dining room was only 1/4 full. After flagging down another employee for our check there was some confusion if we had ordered dessert. We had mentioned a dish in the beginning of the meal but didn't confirm. The server rang it in before checking with us. Then when she realized we didn't want it she said "well it I already rang it in." It didn't come out until 10 minutes later. Then the check was wrong. We were celebrating a special occasion and it seemed like we had picked the wrong place, a manager never even stopped by. I have worked in the industry for 12 years, mostly in fine dining, and we were very disappointed. We can say we tried it but will not be back."

  • "Made reservations, place was quite empty, still seated next to the kitchen door. But the food was very good, we ordered several small plates to share and they were all to our liking. The shrimp an grits were outstanding with 4 extra large shrimp and a delicious source. The Bone Morrow was divine and everything I expected. I person in our group was still waiting on his steak 1.5 hours into the meal which was the low point of the evening. (ending up getting comped) and a round oh high grain something was brought courtesy of the manager. All in All not a bad night and Nate was an out standing waiter."

  • "Our family visited Bird Cafe after a performance at Bass Hall. I had made reservations there, not having been before and not knowing how close it was to the performance hall. It is just a short walking distance. We had reservations for 5:45 but were able to move them up to 5:00pm since our show let out around 4:00pm. Our waitress was very helpful in explaining the shared plate concept, in making suggestions of dishes to try, and in describing dishes we were not familiar with. All of the plates we ordered - the ribs, the roasted chicken, the ahi tuna, the deviled eggs - were good. My favorites were the deviled eggs - I could have made a meal of eggs! - and the cauliflower purée that accompanied the roasted chicken."

  • "We chose Bird Cafe for our Father's day lunch and had a great experience. We didn't realize they had a brunch menu, so that was a fun surprise. We all ordered the Bird Mimosas and 3 different items on the brunch menu. The avocado omelet was good, but not super special. It really was just a folded egg with cheese and avocado slices on top. We also tried the Hen eggs and bacon and it was good as well. Probably the most exciting thing was the french toast and fruit. It was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the restaurant was very pleasant and accomodating. (We added an extra person at the last minute). We will recommend to friends."

  • "Love the eclectic, adventurous menu. The Bird Cafe has the best patio in downtown Fort Worth. Each time I have dined here (today was my 4th), the staff has been exceptional. I truly appreciate the training and skill level. This was my first brunch and while it is a beautiful menu, it was a bit difficult for my food allergies (wheat and egg). We will definitely be back for brunch. (As a side note, they serve a wonderful Col de Salici Extra Dry Prosecco here which is moderately priced. I have searched all over for this brand at retail without luck. It is so yummy!)"

  • "I was a member of a party of four who chose Bird Café for a leisurely Thursday night dinner. We had reservations and were seated promptly. It was not an excessively busy scene. A waiter arrived and requested our drink order before we had a chance for all 4 to look at the one extensive drink menu. We did not see him again for a long time when he arrived to take the food order. We ordered food and drinks and actually the cocktails and wine arrived after the food. That wasted the cocktails since we did not have time to savor and visit. The food arrived one person at a time with several minutes between each. By the way, the food was good, but not great. This was just not a good evening."

  • "My husband and I had dinner before a show at the Bass Hall. We selected 3 of the share plates and had enough room for dessert. The hummus, moth balls and mussels were excellent but we were extremely disappointed in the toasted marshmallow chocolate cake. The marshmallow was very gummy and came apart from the slightly dry and not very chocolatey cake. Overall we would recommend it and go back in the future."

Fun beer list to pick from. Friendly staff that seemed to enjoy explaining menu items. Good comes out when ready which enhances the sharing experience. Will go back for sure!"

  • "We had a group of 4 for lunch with a limited time. The waitress, Larissa was polite, informative, responsive and very aware of our need for an expedited lunch period. Food was good and unusual, but not great. Bird Cage would also be a good choice for a casual business lunch."
