  • Food quality dropped-

We've been to Bird Cafe 8-10 times this year; it's become one of our go-to favorites for an evening at Sundance. However, this past Friday evening, we left thinking maybe it was now off our list. The service was great, ambiance was fine, but the food quality had dropped noticeably. Our fries were cold. Our chicken skin chips were soggy. Nothing really had the zing it usually has. It felt like the cooks (usually I'd call them chefs, but not now) were mailing in the work. Ho-hum. Too bad. Nothing can overcome lousy food-

Everything from the food, to the greeting at the door, to the atmosphere was special. This is a great spot. Wish we could have spent some time on the deck which looked fantastic. Little more knowledge and attention from the bar staff and it would have been five across the board.

My friends have been raving about Bird since it opened and I finally got to go this week. I loved it. Great food, great ambiance, good service. Our waiter was in training and he was lovely, his trainer however was impatient and abrupt. It didn't distract from a delightful dining experience, though. Will definitely go back with my food snob spouse!

My husband and I arrived a few minutes early for our reservations and was told that we could wait in the bar and would receive a text when our table was ready, which we did. Our waitress was good and helpful in explaining some of the menu items. Where we were seated it was a little cool but not freezing even though it was cool outside. We shared the ribs and thought they were a little too spicy but otherwise they were good. My husband wanted the steak pot pie but was told they were out. We will return and have recommended this restaurant to family and friends.

Everything we ate for lunch was incredible. We had mussels to start and they were cooked to perfection with a flavorful broth. I ordered the roasted chicken for my entree and the mashed cauliflower was definitely the star. Great texture and flavors. My friend ordered the egg salad sandwich. It was light and tasty.

Took my wife here for our wedding anniversary. She had been wanting to go for a while, so I surprised her. We made reservations and arrived a bit early, they had a table ready, but gave us a choice for a more preferred table if we waited 5 minutes, which we did. The ambiance is wonderful, and we were thoroughly impressed with the decor. The service was good. We were given an option to have all the food come at once, which we declined. The food came out slowly, but I would say that was on us due to being given the choice. The food was unique and awesome. Very reasonably priced as well, we thought. I recommend this to others looking for a special date night locale. Good stuff.

It's hard to beat the Bird Cafe when it comes to well prepared, delicious food. An innovative menu has something for everyone and daily specials make it more interesting than most casual restaurants in the area. The service and staff are attentive and friendly. If you like dining outdoors, you can enjoy all the recently renovated Sundance Square has to offer. I can't wait to go back.

We had never been to a tapas or shared plate restaurant before. The offerings seemed eclectic to me, but the food was incredible. I highly recommend the mussels, the pig and fig and shrimp and grits. The mothballs were ok but I don't know if I'd get them again. The bird seed salad was an unusual combination of greens that worked wonderfully together. The building that the cafe is in just has a fantastic historical feel with its beautiful original stained glass. Our server was wonderful and explained the entire dining experience to us as well as the menu itself. We will definitely be returning!

Bird Café has done a nice job of creating a fine dining restaurant with great ambiance. If you enjoy "share" plates then this is a good place to go. The beet salad, deviled eggs, shrimp and grits and quail legs were perfect for our group of three. Our server was excellent and made helpful suggestions that made the experience very pleasant. It has a great location on Sundance Square with outdoor seating, a spacious bar and private dining upstairs. Nice place.

Enjoyed a wonderful table on the patio overlooking all the fun activities on Sundance Square. It was a bit overwhelming with the live music on the square and the restaurants own background music, but they didn't take long to turn off their outdoor speakers. I was really hoping for the brunch menu, but it's only offered on Sunday's, even though the lunch menu has many great selections. I had the mussels served Catalan style. Compared to other U.S. restaurants, I did not want for bread. They served a platter of sliced baguette to soak up all the wonderful flavors. And te flavors were remarkable. Because I love ordering Mulles Frites in Paris, I had to order a side of fries here. I probably could have done without, but they were great too.

This restaurant has quickly become my "formal dining room". There are three distinct menus, all stunning. Lunch has wonderful salads, sandwiches and entrees (always a risotto) - all inventive and unusual and delicious! Dinner is largely share plates: "Pig and fig", PEI Muscles, Duck wings and on and on. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday is likewise amazing - turning your favorite breakfast foods on their head. If it is a nice day, sitting outside facing the new Fort Worth Plaza is wonderful. Full bar and equally inventive cocktail menu. Don't miss this - also the price is good as well!

The menu at Bird Cafe is fun and unique. It takes some traditional comfort foods and they create their own unique spin. My husband and I split the shrimp and grits which were fantastic and the Bangers and Mash which were incredible. We ordered them to make him happy and they were my favorite! We also split a plate of collard greens that were perfectly cooked. The service is okay. I highly recommend this restaurant and will absolutely be going back.

We had a group of 4. We had reservations (highly recommended) and were seated promptly. The waitress asked if we were needing to get to the show (Bass Hall), and we were so the food came quickly. She recommended that each of us choose two different plates to share among the group. We had salads, vegetables, and a couple of meat dishes. The "shrimp and grits" is wonderful. We had time for a dessert to share - blueberries and amaretto ice cream. Very good.

Was in Fort Worth for a business trip with 3 colleagues; went there for dinner and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening --seated in outdoor dining area. Service and food both excellent. Something for everyone from vegetarian to steak lover and all well executed. Would definitely return if in the area. Liked the tapas like concept but with larger portions for sharing. Sweet pea guacamole, collard greens, beautifully grilled ribeye, and other delights. No room for dessert! Good selection of wines!

The brunch menu is not as extensive as dinner, thus is more common. The omelet we had was poorly made ,one slice of cheese(not fully melted) in side. The dinners we have had there have always been good. The food items are served as ready,so be prepared for a random serving. Sharing items works well here

Every course was perfectly paired with a wine, Kraft beer, or cocktail. Ryan's palette is superb and he made the night an amazing experience. You must try the Pig-n-Fig and let him pair the dish with the right cocktail. If you like old fashions, ask about their black cherry and chocolate bitter old fashion. Holy cow! Seriously, every bite from the cheese/meat plate to the dessert was divine! I'm super hard to please, normally. Yet, Bird Cage left me speechless and in awe! Well done!

The evening was wonderful, meal great! There was a wedding party taking pictures in the Sundance Square area, made the night seem magical. Service could have been better, our server was very friendly; however she forgot to let us about the specials. We learned about it after we had ordered & asked what the people at another table had ordered. Also, I ordered the walnut cake, but asked the server to leave off the caramel & when I received it it had caramel drizzled over it. I didn't send it back, it was delicious, but the server should have caught the mistake. This was not my husband's & my first time to dine there, for these reasons cannot not give "OUTSTANDING" rating. We will be back!

The Bird Café, in a historic building in downtown Fort Worth is filled with bird prints, made by twin artists from Fort Worth who copied James Audubon’s style. The service was exceptional with our waitress guiding us through the many small plate selections. Our favorites were “moth balls”, ricotta filled balls, rolled in pasta dough and served with a sauce consisting of fried or dried sage. The Texas quail was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the “pig and fig” were flavorful and satisfying. Extensive wine list with plenty of by the glass options. After dinner, we had a drink on their roof top terrace. A very nice evening, a great date night. Go to the Bird–you know the old 60’s song – before everyone else finds out the Bird is the Word.

Made my second visit to The Bird on Friday night. The food was very enjoyable, but the service was not. I believe that was the result of our being seated upstairs. Not sure how the food/beverages get from the kitchen/bar to the upstairs area, but all were delayed. I will NOT accept upstairs seating again, and will request downstairs when making my future reservations (which I strongly recommend to avoid long delays on weekend visits).
