  • "Overall a great place to go for weekend brunch. I've been twice and ordered the eggs benedict both times. I didn't give a higher food rating because the muffin was very tough to cut through and eat! However, had a voted the first time I would have given an outstanding as the food was made perfectly. Perhaps this time was a fluke. I'll definitely go back but will try a different item. S Our server Charlotte was outstanding and provided great service. This is not a compliment I give lightly. :)"

  • "Had a great dinner sitting on the porch. Service attentive. staff well versed in menu and wine list. Great pace of meal. We enjoyed Friday dinner so much we went back on Sunday for brunch and had an equally charming waiter and good meal. will add this to my list when we return to St. Pete."

  • "We make the Birchwood our "food stop" to and from the airport. Sometimes Lunch, sometimes dinner, but always very good. The specials are original and presentation and quality are great. I always enjoy my visit here."

  • "We have been here two or three times... Love the bar area for before dinner drinks (wine by the glass offerings are very slim based on their actual extensive wine list... Not good!) We have found that the menu is just average... Presentation is lovely and service is good, although the main dining area is very loud!)... But the menu is just uninspired... Really sad! They have removed a lot of the interesting dishes from the menu...not sure why? We will give this place a "rest" for a while! Disappointing..."

  • "We went for Sunday brunch. Excellent food, beautifully presented. Interesting food combinations without being outré. We drank cocktails, but noticed the extensive wine list. Our first time there, but we're definitely return."

  • "This was our first visit to Birch & Vine but it won't be our last! Food was great as was the service. It was so nice to eat outside across from the park with the lights! Very nice! We will definitely return on our next visit to Tampa. And, the hotel was so nice, we will try to book a room there on our next trip."

  • "Attentive service by a phenomenal waiter and assistant, named Matt & Matt. This same named duo did lot miss a best. From the helpful hostess to the superb service to the fantastic food, this place is a must if you are in the St. Pete area. We didn't have an opportunity to use the rooftop bar, but were able to check it out- wow, that view!!!"

  • "I took a business client from Chicago, who was here for one night and knows fine dining. We both ordered the St.Louis rib appetizer, which are superb.I ordered a tasty vegetable collard green soup and he had the wedge salad. We both ordered the 12 oz.Sirloin strips.Absolutely amazing, cooked to perfection,Pittsburgh sear out side, peppercorns on the out side, temperature medium rare, topped with bernaise sauce.Absolutely one of the best ever any where and number one for this side of Tampa Bay.I will continue to take my top clients here for a delightful dinner experience. This in fact was my fourth visit in nine months.Do not for get to go up top to the canopy for after drinks, incredible view that no other restaurant has in St.Pete,Fl."

  • "Awesome food - read the details, don't go by the title of the dish (especially with dessert). Don't miss the roof top bar Canopy!"

  • "Quite a number of restaurants to choose from at the St. Petersburg, FL waterfront but the newly remodeled Birch & Vine is a must try. The food preparation was classic with a twist and the service was outstanding. The gazpacho was superb! and the meatloaf was certainly not ordinary!"

  • "The food was excellent. We went upstairs to a rooftop open area with wonderful views of St Pete and the bay for a drink before dinner."

  • "I believe I first heard of this on Open Table, or maybe Foodist, but regardless it was a wonderful dining experience. We hosted friends from Wisconsin who dine out in Milwaukee and Chicago and they were very pleased and impressed. My girlfriend was especially pleased to find some gluten free options and when our oyster appetizer turned out to contain gluten (you had to specify GF) they happily remade it. Service was attentive but not overbearing and everyone absolutely loved their food. Creative presentations of fresh and unusually paired ingredients. Its too expensive to be a 'regular' place but for a special occasion I'd go back in a heartbeat!"

  • "After reading generally good reviews mixed with some from disappointed diners B & V exceeded our expectations. Service was excellent as was the food. If not for the unacceptable noise level, this would be our favorite St Pete restaurant."

  • "A colleague and I hosted three out-of-town business associates for lunch at Birch and Vine and they loved it! The food was wonderful, as usual, and the service was right on target. We asked for a couple of specific accomdations when we made our reservation and everything was handled seamlessly. The guests were in love with the view and location but even more impressed with the creative selections on the menu and the quality once it was served."

  • "I have been to Birch and Vine many times and have never been disappointed. The food is the best on Beach Drive and the atmosphere outstanding. This was a business dinner but I have come here for a romantic dinner with my wife or for a casual bite at the bar. Also I would suggest you check out the view from the rooftop bar."

  • "This was the first time that i have gone to Birch and Vine. The food was top notch, the service was great and the staff at the front was office and inviting. I will be back."

  • "We will definitely be back to this wonderful restaurant. So many good things on the menu we are excited to try next time. We both loved our dinner selections and my husband's bone-in rib eye was a perfect medium rare. Watch the plates coming out to the tables. Each one was beautifully prepared. The manager, Scott, stopped by several times to check on our experience and joined us in a brief conversation. He really made us feel special. Loved it!"

  • "We are northerners who dine out frequently in great food cities. We spend a few days each Spring in the St. Pete area and the food is always fine but nothing exceptional. Birch & Vine has the potential to be very good. Ingredients are fresh and the intentions good. But for our taste they need to edit a bit. Every trick does not need to go into each dish. The chefs ideas are great but are a little too in your face. The kitchen could do well to heed Coco Chanel's advice “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Edit and simplify a bit and Birch & Vine can be that great restaurant St. Pete needs."

  • "The food in this restaurant was fresh and excellently prepared. We had what we wanted and will return. The restaurant also honored a request for a birthday candle to celebrate a friend's special birthday--couldn't ask for more!"

  • "Disappointed in the service and the prices. The portions were very small and overpriced."

  • "Loved everything about our evening except the acoustics are poor and you can't hear each other talk and everyone shouts to be heard. It ruins the experience. Food was fantastic and our server was great."

  • "This restaurant was one of the best meals I have had in the Tampa Bay Area. The butter poached lobster appetizer was to die for!"

  • "We normally eat brunch at Brasserie, but I have had dinner at Birchwood before and it was great; so tried them for Brunch. Food was tasteless and arrived cold after 30 minutes or so. Very disappointing."

  • "High prices demand better food. Tuna had large peices of gristle running through it, making parts of it inedible. When I pointed it out to the server she said she would mention it to the chef. Did she? I have no idea because except for bringing the bill, we never saw her agian."

  • "Went for brunch and it was great. Mimosas and eggs benedict were delicious and can't beat the outside location on a gorgeous day!"

  • "We stayed for one night at The Birchwood and loved the hotel and restaurant. The food was very good and reasonably priced. We really like farm to table restaurants since the food seems fresher and you often get to try new things. I had the homemade pasta with grilled salmon. Since I don't like mushrooms, they graciously substituted one of their fresh vegetables of the day (yellow beets) for the mushrooms, and gave me a generous portion. My husband had the meatloaf and the stacked Bibb lettuce salad, which he enjoyed. We finished with a slice of their version of Red Velvet cake. I'm not a big fan of goat cheese, so that was a little overpowering in the icing. If we are ever in the St. Petersburg area again, we'll definitely return."

  • "Our third visit to this boutique restaurant and hotel. Every dish is a work of art visually and gastronomically! A wide variety of entrees, appetizers, and extensive wine list. Entrees usually include one game meat special: elk, rabbit, etc. The rooftop bar is trendy and cozy with fire pits, cabanas, and a great waterfront view. Definitely a "happening" place."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed the food & wine had a lovely bottle of a dry Riesling. My only moan was the very load party seated behind me."

  • "The food is always spectacular! We are especially fans of the scallops and the salmon; best we've had"

  • "Started the evening with a drink at the indoor bar. The bartender was friendly and gave us great conversation. Proceeded into the dining room and were sat in a very nice booth. Service was prompt and attentive, but not intrusive. The Bibb salad was delicious. I would definitely get this salad again. As for the entrees, the menu is not very large and did not offer a big variety. My husband had the NY Strip. He said it was very tasty but did not care for the sauce on top. I had the Skirt Steak which was very flavorful and the Kale that came with it was very good. The desserts were to die for. The flan has a citrus twist to it and was very good. The strawberry-rhubarb layered dessert was exceptional. We will go back."

  • "My husband and I found the Birch and Vine lovely. I had their special meatloaf, and it was delicious. Menu had interesting dishes that were slightly eclectic, which made them fun. Had fish, beef, chicken, vegetarian. Bib salad was delicious. Would highly recommend for special evening."

  • "Beautiful atmosphere with a view of the water across the street and vibrant area. Service could have been better. Food was good, portions smaller, entree salad was the size of a side salad with meat."
    Dined on 2/28/2014
  • "The grouper was okay. The NY strip was over cooked on the first attempt. I ordered it Medium Rare and got Medium Well. While the flavor was nice, the second attempt and the steak was literally raw inside! While the mgr took it off the check, I would have preferred a steak that was edible and worthy of the restaurant upper end pricing. The Birchwood Old Fashioned is however an amazing drink. We have been before and may give them another shot."

  • "We went for New Year's Eve. As a result, the experience may not have been up to their norm. It was good but too loud. While food was certainly acceptable, it was not exceptional. I don't know whether we will give it another try."
