BIN 38MediocreIt is generally a bad omen whenever we go to a restaurant and the hostess doesn't look you in the eye, and then disappears for 5 minutes trying to find a table for you when the restaurant is empty. The appetizers were decent, although burrata was the size of a golfball. The main courses were pretty ordinary. The Alaskan cod was inedible, not very fresh and so over salted it should have been called baccala. It was served on nearly raw wax beans. My dining companion orderedl "short ribs" which should have been "short rib," as he was given a single puny one. The wine list was less extensive than we imagined. Dessert pretty good. They don't have espresso.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Wine, High PricesThe wine list though not lengthy had good variety and notable labels. I tasted an Oregon Pinot Noir and found it overly acidic. I chose instead a Petersen Zinfandel which was a well balanced wine. It was not jammy but had enough fruit to balance the tannins. I felt the price of glass of wine to be on the high side with the average being $12.00
The menu though not extensive had very enticing and interesting options. The soup which changes daily was a creamy ginger, carrot soup with a chicken stock base. It was very good though I'm not sure it was worth $9.00.
The Flatbread of the day was carmelized onions, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian sausage and fresh Arugula. The baked Halibut was terrific, well seasoned!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCozy place with fresh menuSmall and cozy, with a small but innovative menu. Great use of fresh and local ingredients. Our waiter was personable and attentive. Our group of four each had a different entree and each was fantastic. The flatbread appetizers were particularly delicious. We will definitely eat here again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, but wantedVery good food, but wanted more. Could have been bigger portions.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome place! I'll be coming backThis place was great! I found out about BIN 38 through a Bloomspot deal which was for a 3- course fixed menu, and every course was delicious. The wine list is very good and we even purchased some bottles to take home that we can't find in stores. I will definitely going back to this place again and bringing some new friends with me.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went last week for my birthdayWe went last week for my birthday diner with 7 friends. We asked to be seated on the patio, which was honored. It is covered and has heated, so we were plenty warm. The wine was great, and the food was nice as well. Tuesdays are 30% off all wine bottles, so that was great! I would definitely go back for the patio. Additionally, there is couch seating inside and out which is great for a romantic evening, or a fun wine night with friends.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food great service ok serviceWent here on a first date, great atmosphere to talk and amazing food. The waiter changed in the middle of our service and didn't mention anything to us which I thought was strange, but neither waiter was particularly bad. The first guy was much more helpful and explained everything while theist guy essentially just brought us a bill. Other than that everything was great!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place!I have been there several times - and have introduced several friends to Bin 38. We all love it. The wait help is fantastic. The food is awesome. It's fun to go sit at the 'pit' to have desert. This is one of my favorite places!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great neighborhoodThis is a great neighborhood wine bar (in a neighborhood filled with them!). They have a pretty extensive wine selection and the servers are knowledgeable and able to recommend great wines. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced. I would recommend the cheese plate - you actually get large slices of cheese and a good assortment of "extras" to go with the cheese. The truffle popcorn is also a must.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe sat in the patio area andWe sat in the patio area and really had a nice time outdoors. I really liked the fire pitt and would place had a nice wine list.12/30/2012 12:00:00 AM
