  • "I dined at Bin 36 with a group while attending a seminar in Chicago. Terrific choices of wine flights and a menu that pairs wines with specific dishes: Great idea! Excellent cheese plates and tapas. The food was very good and the place is an eclectic mix of wine shop and bistro. If you like what you drank, you can buy a bottle on the way out. Another great idea! Can't wait to return."

  • "We had a great time at Bin 36 on a Saturday night. The special cheese flight for the evening was excellent, and the wines were paired perfectly. The entrees were good, but nothing special. Next time I think I'd rather have a wider variety of small plates instead of the entree (I don't know what small plates the table next to us ordered, but they looked delicious - I was a little jealous). Service was outstanding."

  • "The food is awful but it makes up for what it is known for which is wines and a beautiful tasting bar"

  • "But was I surprised and pleased. From the moment we walked into the restaurant until we left, the hospitality continued. Meg, our server was genuine, engaging and created personal service. I will be back."

  • "I first dined at Bin36 8 years ago for a birthday celebration - the experience was so great that we continue to come back for "celebrations" whenever we are in Chicago - great wines, great service, great food."

  • "Food was great, service was great, wine selection was amazing. Although they have entrees, we chose to share small bites. Everything was delicious and we loved the variety of cheeses. Ambiance was nice. Good-looking crowd; some big groups, some groups of 2-4 people. We were surprised it wasn't busier."

  • "Bin36 has the BEST burger in town! Great location."

  • "I had a travelzoo discount - it's actually the reason I went to Bin36. Without the discount, it would have been completely overpriced for the serving size."

  • "For 5 bucks you pretty much can't go wrong but Bin's burger was unexceptionable and rather overcooked. I asked for MR and I got MW. Disappointing but I'll still go back."

  • "Food is fine, nothing outstanding but it's among the better choices in the area for a casual meal with a great wine selection."

  • "We enjoyed our first wine class with Enoch, the somelier at Bin 36. The class continued as we enjoyed a delicious dinner with our terrific server, Meg. Meg selected four wonderful cheeses for the cheese plate, the blue cheese celery soup was outstanding and the wild boar chili was just what I needed to warm me on a cold night, along with the very interesting South African wines we sampled in our class. Not to mention the very tasty crab cake my husband and I shared, along with the unique bloody mary deviled eggs and aranchini we snacked on before the class. I look forward to more classes and more delicious food at Bin 36. I have been there often at lunch, but was surprised to experience such a different atmosphere for dinner."

  • "Its a beautiful place.hostess was pleasant. My waitress wasn't very attentive. Enjoyed my oxtails and the flight sparkly white wines...my company was not please with the constant cleaning without excusing themselves and asking was we done with dishes"

  • "I've been here probably 3-4 times for business lunches. It's great because it's quiet and quick, but the menu is very limited."

  • "Great place to dine with friends or date. I had the trout for dinner which was a little too salty for my taste but appetizers were out of this world. Very diversified wine list providing plenty of choices to pair with great dishes. That evening was quiet which made the place very enjoyable. I could see how this would get noisy on a busy night. Service was excellent"

  • "I chose Bin 36 for my birthday dinner location. The wine and cheese were exactly what I was hoping for. The staff was excellent and helped us to make satisfying wine selections. Thank you!"

  • "We used the travel zoo coupon for wine flights and cheese plate. Really nice selection and add the fresh greens and yummy garlic fries at a reasonable cost. Kind of loud place not the wine cave of other places. We really liked how they left the description labels for all wine and cheeses on the table after being served. It helped to keep things straight with pairing after thirty minutes of random conversation! Would go again even at full prices."

  • "It is a fun Place to go with friends or even a first date. Great concept for wine tasting. The waitress seemed like she was too busy and gave me the incorrect flank description sheet for the wine tasting I ordered however the gal that delivered the wine quickly retrieved the correct sheet. The cheese guy from Kenya was wonderful and very knowledgable. We were seated behind a bookshelf which was near the door and retail area. It was very drafty and I froze every time the door opened. It was cold in the establishment. I had a great time talking with my friend and relaxing over some great wine and cheese. I will def return with a group of friends for drinks but will be more particular with my table location."

  • "an unusually unique restaurant in a sophisticated, subtle way; not a bold "in your face, we're different" manner. food, service and wine list exceptional . staff very gracious and helpful."

  • "On the drive in, we phoned ahead to let the restaurant know that we would be late for our reservation. When we arrived, the restaurant was able to accomodate us. The commuting nightmare was worth the wait, as we were presented with a fantastic 4 course menu with beautiful wine pairings. Each course had a number of options that were available. I like to try different items when I eat out at a restaurant and I was not disappointed."

  • "We had only been to Bin 36 for a party, and remembered the interesting wines. Needing a dinner spot before the Goodman, we had forgotten to think "north" and then remembered Bin 36. They had a price fixe menu that night (Valentine's Day) and it was paired nicely with wines. Most importantly, we had a lot of time - an hour and three-quarters - and our server paced us perfectly. No rush, no drag. A perfect night. The only negative - four courses paired with wines plus a glass of prosecco to begin was probably a little more wine than theater-goers should have imbibed!"

  • "Only had 3 entree selections on V-day, the one I ordered was out so I resorted to a non-vegetarian dish. 2 desert options, the one I chose was also out. My dates dish also came out prepared differently than asked. The only good thing I had was the wine"

  • "My husband and I dined at Bin 36 for Valentine Day dinner. The service was poor and the steak was tough. The music was awesome and so was the wine."

  • "Dinner and a good movie, Bin 36 provided the perfect atmosphere after seeing a great movie. The scene was energetic, the food was lively and interesting and the service was efficient and pleasant. Totally a great evening for Valentine's Day and Anniversary, will recomend to friends."

  • "I have to tell you that the menu for Valentine's Day was absolutely hevenly. Each and every bite was perfect. I had never had mung fish before and it was simply scrumptious. The cabernet sauvignion jello was a delicious and playful surprise. The dessert was the most perfect way to end the meal."

  • "I took someone to Bin 36 that came in from San Francisco. He is a huge wine lover, and was impressed by the selection and quality of the wine. The cheese selection can't be beat, either. A great place to sit and talk."

  • "My mom, sister, and I went to Bin 36 before seeing the Phantom at the Cadillac theater - this place is a must try. As a family that loves small places - this was perfect for us. Between the three of us we got 6 small plates and each one was better than the next. Definitely try the Bin 36 Cheese Plate - great assortment and an even better presentation. They had a great assortment- crab cake, tuna tartar, smoked salmon, and polenta to name a few. The service was also fantastic. They were offering a special Chianti from Italy and the wine maker was actually there. He was super friendly and came and talked about the wine if you ordered a glass (we obviously did and it was fabulous). Overall - Bin 36 is a must!"

  • "Wine selection was wonderful, food - not as much. I was not particularly impressed with any of the dishes, and we had quite a few. The only I can recommend is the Bison Ragu - it was hearty and delicious. I think this would be good for wine and snacks, but wouldn't suggest for a full blown dinner."

  • "A group of 7 of us came here for a friends birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. The wine and cheese flights were great, but the food menu was very limited. The waitress was not very attentive or personable, I would have liked her to explain each of the different flights a little more or offer more suggestions. Overall, I had a good time with good friends despite the service."

  • "My sister recommend Bin 36 to me as great place to have my husband's 30th birthday gathering. We had a reservation for 11 people and were seated immediately upon arrival. They had reserved the lounge area for us which was great, though would not have been ideal if we'd ordered entrees. However, we all ordered small plates, plus cheese and charcuterie and the setting was perfect. I commented that the noise level was great- music was playing but we didn't have to shoot to be heard and as we got there a bit earlier than the normal dinner crowd (6:30pm) it was not too noisy with the regular din. The food was great! Highly recommend the tuna tartare. Everything was fairly priced- wine flights for $14-16."

  • "I am giving the overall rating for BIN 36 a 4-star rating. Why you might ask? It all came down to the last 15 minutes. All four of us were sitting on the N.E. corner of the bar - the bartender was great - the wine and beers were also very tasty - as was the european cheese palte we ordered. The last 15 minutes felt like we were being stared at by some of the staff - like - it's time to go now - we(the staff) want to get out of here kind of feeling. There were only a few handfuls of people at the bar so I partially understand - but - I'm very good at picking up the vibe and felt a bit uncomfortable by the overall experience."

  • "The wine list was impressive and really nice. The 3 people I was with and I all got different flights, which was fun. The cheese plate we got was great and had really interesting bites to go with it. The red wine jello-type cubes were spectacular! I had the crab cake, which was very filling and the creamy, spicy sauce that went with it was just right. I also had the ginger carrot soup, and considering we went on a sleety, rainy, snowy, icy cold night, it was perfection. Loved the service (attentive but not rushing us) and I would come back for sure. The valet was $17, which I thought was a little steep and their sign had a different price, but I didn't make a thing out of it. Overall, excellent."
