For larger parties, reserve the entire establishment. Billy's can seat up to 80 people. A word from Billy's Restaurant
Named after William Jennings Bryan, the elegant "Noble-Dawes House" located near the Nebraska State Capital was built in 1887. The Chautauqua Bar and the dining rooms named for William Jennings Bryan, Charles Dawes, and George W. Norris give a fascinating glimpse into a grand era in U. S. History.<br> Since 1986 it has been the home of Billy's Restaurant. We find the finest ingredients for our divers menu selections. Our entree specialties include steak, lamb, duck, veal, seafood and delicious vegetarian dishes.   • "We arrived early for our reservation and were personally welcomed by the owner. His vibrant, likable personality instantly put us in a good spirits. The charming house was filled with old photos and antiques. State senators supposedly congregate there after nearby work at the capital. The menu was a short listing of quality meat and fish meals. No appetizers, sides, or a la carte items were shown. Three of us ordered steaks, which were cooked perfectly. The chicken & wild rice soup was outstanding. Our daughter had a stomach ache, so the owner offered to prepare her something off menu, which she Only the owner and waiter were visible. The waiter was highly efficient but perhaps a bit rushed. All 4 of us were pleased, overall."

  • "They have the best food. You receive so much you have to take the rest home. It is pricey but not for once in awhile occasions. The waiter was so nice and we met the chef, a nice guy as well and very funny. I can't wait to go back."

  • "My husband and I ate here for a date, and enjoyed the quaintness of the restaurant. The food was decent, but not amazing. However, neither of us got restaurant specials due to ordering off a Restaurant Week menu. In retrospect, I wish we would have ordered one of their specialties to have had a more positive experience with their food. The service was appropriate, and the staff was friendly. Overall I enjoyed the experience even though slightly disappointed with the food."

  • "I especially like dining in historic buildings and Billy's fit the bill perfectly. The service was better than excellent. Our reservation was for 5:00, their stated opening time for dinner. We arrived at 4:30. I had no expectation of being seated early since we were there before official opening time. But the doors were unlocked for people arriving for a private reception in the bar area and they seated us right away. I am pretty sure our food was on our table prior to 5:00. Our waiter was very professional and the food was delicious. Although we were the only ones in the dining room for most of the time we were there, it was not as quiet as you might expect due to the reception, but no noise complaints."

The wait staff is well-versed in the menu and is attentive in just the right way. The stately, old house provides several dining areas that are small enough to provide an intimate feeling, but large enough not to feel cramped."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Billy's for the first time for his birthday dinner the other night. We arrived around 7:30, and the tables were mostly full. The atmosphere is very intimate and romantic due to the numerous, small dining "rooms". There were approximately 3-6 tables per room, and the lighting was low. Their menu is on the smaller side, so I recommend looking at what they offer online before going in. However, the choices covered many areas of cuisine. The food was absolutely wonderful, and it was obvious that the most quality ingredients were used. We will definitely be returning."

  • "When we arrived, we noticed the exterior of the building had peeling paint, a bit of rustic charm perhaps. From the exterior and modest interior, we were unsure of what to expect. We were greeted promptly and seated. Our charming server, (and Wine Steward), described the house specials for the evening. I ordered the "Chicken for Jordan" and my guest ordered "Filet Mignon". We were treated to a generous portion of salad with an amazing vinagrette dressing. Our dinners arrived within a reasonable time. I must say, I truly and thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken for Jordan. Lightly breaded with a delicious sauce, it was heavenly. The Filet was just okay according to my guest. The portions were nice size and very tasty. I would eat at Billy's again."

I had the steak diane, which was fine but not anything special. The building was showing its age and pretty shabby in spots. Table linens needed updating. We will not be back."

  • "This reminded me of the Knolls. Back in the day it was the place to go, but with all of the wonderful new places in the Haymarket these guys need to step it up a notch (or ten) to stay relevant. The minute we ordered soda instead of wine our waitress became scarce, I assume she thinks only people that drink wine tip well??? My husband ordered the special which we assumed was a special price. Not so, $30. It was good but not THAT good. I ordered the pasta and could have gotten better at macaroni grill. Seriously. Never ever again."

  • "We happened to be at Billy's on a quiet night with few customers. Sometimes they are very busy. But we had a great experience celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. Great food, great service, and the chef came and visited us. Its décor is based on William Jennings Bryan and other notable Nebraska politicians of the past. It's close to the Nebraska capitol building and legislators and other business people come often for lunch. They have $5 specials for lunch on Friday but otherwise their menu is pricey but worth it."

The wine list is likewise limited, but focuses on quality selections, both domestic and imported. Full bar service is also available.   • "One of the finest restaurants in Lincoln for atmosphere and excellence in food and service. On this visit, I was met by the door by the chef, who entertained me while I waited for my dining companions by describing in detail some of the available dishes, so that I was fully primed by the time we took our seats. I had the Chicken for Jordan, which is a must-order for chicken and cheese lovers. It can be a bit pricey at dinnertime, so we only go for special occasions, but at lunchtime the prices are very reasonable, especially on "$5 Fridays"."

  • "Won't be going back next time I'm in Lincoln. Was a Monday night, but even then there was only one couple eating. I ordered the pork tenderloin. I would best describe it as pork shoe leather. Maybe they will survive, but having a sign out front that the building and parking lot are for sale won't help."

  • "I love going out for dinner to a restaurant that is not a chain and offers menu with interesting items to choose from. No kids here. Great date place with your husbands. Leave the kids at home! Great wine selection. Reasonably priced on all accounts. Our risotto wasn't cooked all the way, but that I think is a fluke and I can easily overlook it especially since they brought out a side of their delicious mashed potatoes garlicky with skins. yum."

  • "My husband and I and another couple went for dinner. It was nice to go for dinner without children and specifically chose Billy's for this reason (not a kid place). Everything was very nice except for two notable things. First, when it was my time to order, the waiter addressed me as "and you in the corner." I am not a snob, and I am very laid back and love a good laugh, but, huh? Second, we had 5pm reservations and arrived on time. At 6:45, while our meal was done,we still had wine in our glasses. We were asked to leave because other people had reservations. While I understand this, I found this extrememely distasteful. If I return, I realize it is not a place to slowly eat, drink and enjoy the atmosphere."

  • "My wife went to Billy's for a Valentine's dinner date. We were treated wonderfully & had amazing steaks for dinner. We made reservations for 6:30pm & arrived at 6pm but were seated immediately. The only thing i had trouble with was I am a tall person & the small two person table was a little uncomfortable. Food was great & desert was fabulous.Thanks billy's for a great evening!"

  • "Well, here is what I received. I ordered the special of the day, a steak dinner. I was served a single plate that was half covered with potatoes and half covered with steamed vegetables. The steak, which was fairly large was simply dropped on top of the potatoes and vegetables. I could not cut the steak without the potatoes or vegetables oozing out and spilling off my plate. As a result, I took a couple of bites to be polite to my guests who generally liked their dishes. After the meal was over, I went to another restaurant and had a full meal. So, my experience was not very nice, other than good service which kept my glass of tea full."
