"Visited with client prior to Pens Game. Casual atmosphere but slightly upscale. Food was good and service good. Staff cognizant of our schedule and made sure we finished in time to get to the start of the game. Would go there again."

"Everyone in the party ordered beef: braised beef short ribs (without the bone), ribeye steak, hamburger. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was very good, but not outstanding."

"The Bigelow Grille is just a few blocks from the Consol Energy Center, which is one reason why we decided to go there for dinner before a Penguins game. We sat outside since the weather was nice, and the service was very good, bringing drinks quickly, etc. The restaurant prides itself on using local and organic ingredients, which I appreciate; however, the portions were a little small for the prices we paid. The quality of the food was excellent. We enjoyed our dinner and were on our way to the game in a more than satisfactory amount of time."

"I haven't been to the restaurant in the Doubletree Hotel for many years -- I recalled it as being pretty mediocre. But the Bigelow Grille is a significant upgrade from what was there before. The decor is fresher and nicer, and I really like the idea of a restaurant that features local and organic meats and produce. It was relatively quiet and pleasant for lunch conversation. I had a salad with grilled chicken added; my companion had the same, and both were very good (though she asked for no bacon, I for no corn, and the server mixed them up). (He also pronounced the soup of the day "Mine - Strone," and it took us a minute to realize he meant minestrone! But he seemed like a nice young man and tried hard.) I'd definitely go back."

"I eat at the Grille on a weekly basis since it is where our Pittsburgh Kiwanis Club meets. The staff at the BG is extremely nice and accommodating, whenever their schedule allows we get the table in the nook area where we can have our meeting while eating and not disturbing the rest of the restaurant which to a certain degree gives the meeting a higher degree of business atmosphere.

Having tried several of their dishes I can say that their most recent menu revisions address a lot of the concerns I have read in past reviews. Portion sizes are very generous (the exception being their seafood offerings) and their quality of cooking is quite good."

"This was our first lunch visit to Bigelow and we were not impressed. The service was slow, and once meals were delivered, no timely re-check. We had simple burgers and a steak salad. The salad was very unattractive, pale greens with a clump of fries on the top of the plate. Hanger steak was tough. Burgers were OK."
