Big Italy reviews from OpenTable diners
  • Italian Food?

Sadly this restaurant was a huge disappointment. All the reviews on line were incorrect in praising the food. The food was equivalent to a frozen meal you would get on sale at the grocery store. We went with a very large party and everyone's dish was very bad. From the pasta to the steak and the chicken. The food was season-less and very bad. There was no authentic Italian dish at this restaurant.

I went to Big Italy with my Italian family for Easter dinner. We're very picky about Italian food, really the only other Italian restaurants in Orlando that we'll go to are Gargi's and Antonio's, so when I say this place gets Italian food right I mean it. No overcooked pasta here, everything is perfectly al dente. They have a huge menu, kind of a cheesecake factory type place for Italian food. The hardest part is just deciding on what you want to eat. The service is fantastic, and the staff looks/acts/& sounds straight out of Italy. They have a happy hour everyday, 2 for 1 wines.

I have a very restricted diet and this restaurant was extremely accommodating. They made special dishes for me prepared with only the ingredients that I can have. From what I have read from many reviews , they will prepare anything you want and cook it exactly to your specifications. This is why I decided to try this restaurant. The reviews were correct . The best part was that they were pleased to do it.

the food at big Italy was delicious. the place was not that busy at 630 in the evening on a Tuesday but it still took almost 25 minutes to get my first glass of wine. The staff reminded me of a newly opened restaurant. Although it has been there a ling time..

The Big Italy is in a strip mall but the food is excellent and staff superb. They of them speak Italian and have that cultural background which makes for a fine experience. This is not an American take on Pizza and Italian, this is pure Italy. If you have traveled to Italy then this is the place for you. If you want the plain Italian American then stay away. We tried the Galeto for the first time and it was like eating pure fruit cold. Lovely!!!

A find. All Italian staff delivered the goods. Atmosphere was, in words of one fellow diner, an 'Italian Denny's' but the food was fantastic. Suggest they remove the 100's of favors of pizza sign, because it underplays the Great array of food.

Met friends from out of town at Big Italy, which was midway between Disney and the airport. Food was good. It is a large restaurant and was able to accomodate our party of 10 easily. The decor is nothing spectacular. It was generally quiet enough to talk, although the piped in music was a little loud at times. The food was good, not great. Literally 100 types of pizzas and 100 types of pasta, which can take some time to figure out. Service was a little slow, but good. I couldn't figure out whether they were giving us time to talk and dine, or whether they were --- well, slow. All in all, a good experience.

Not sure if this is a new restaurant or not but they have it together. The staff is really Italian and they speak Italian and they are very well trained. They know the menu and can make recommendation and alternatives. The restaurant lists 100 pizzas on its menu but will make anything - outstanding! We had antipasta and it was the best quality and presented very well. We will return.

This is a very casual restaurant that is basically a pizza and pasta place. The pizza is thin crust but not crispy. It does taste good and there are 100 varieties. The pasta is good as well. Our service was very very slow. The waiter just came from Italy and had some trouble with English and being organized. It took a long time to get any food or drink - 30 min from the time we ordered. The appetizer and salad came after the main course. This restaurant is best as a family place to eat as long as you have patient children. I do not recommend this for an adult night out as we intended.

Really enjoyed Big Italy! Visited from out-of-town and decided to try as near our Universal Studios hotel. Service was spot-on and food was terrific - - impressive menu. The gorgonzola gnocchi was as good a dish as I've had in any Italian restaurant in years. All food was authentic and really liked the pesto dipping sauce for bread. We'll be back!

After returning from Italy, I thought I would never again have the opportunity to enjoy true italian dishes (cue the dramatic music)....but I find myself sinfuly pleased again when discovering this bistro! Although it is a bit out of the way for me (I live at exit 58 off I-4, and it is located at exit 75A)... I will make this trip again... and soon! The pizza (there are over 500 choices) is authentic to Rome. Thin and crisp... the sauce leaves you wanting more! We chose this as an appetizer. Our main dishes, Pasta Fruitti (linguini with a whole lot of seafood) and Gnocchi Fromaggio (can you say "pillows of heaven") were so fantastic that I cannot describe how delicious!!!! Just try it and thank me later

Big Italy has a large pizza menu with a lot of different combinations. It's a great place for families and big groups. The food is good, though we only had pizza, not sure about the pasta. Our server, Nate was very friendly and took care of our requests with a smile and quickly! It's a good place for pizza and very casual. There are also a lot of tv's to watch sports.

We came across Big Italy by accident while visiting Orlando. Serendipity says it all. The food selection was fantastic with a hundred different pizza combos prepared to perfection in a wood fired oven. We also ordered a frutti di mare that was wonderful. I always judge an Italian restaurant by its red marinara sauce and Big Italy hits a home run. The fun Facts Italia that play on an endless HD loop made for some rousing table games as they were interspersed with some wonderful and delicious looking photography of the dishes prepared by BIG ITALY. Mangiere, mangieri... abudanza!

We had a great time at big italy, the food was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. We walked in with seven children ranging from 2 - 17 and they were very active to say the least. The staff did not mind at all and made us feel right at home despite all of the commotion coming from our younger ones. We had no problem making the reservations thanks to open table even in the hustle and bustle of Disney. And the food was very good (like the north east).
