The staff is very friendly. When I walked in with my friend, the young lady greeted me and walked us to the table. The food came on a good time and the other lady serving the food was friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite bunch meal is the eggs benedict crab!

The food was spectacular! However we went for the fish and chips, booked an appointment a week in advance.. Sat down at the table and was informed they didn't serve fish and chips unless it was lunch time - which wasn't communicated to me at all up until that point. The waitress was an older woman who came across as very impersonal and gave the impression that my date and I were a annoyance or inconvenience. Will return for the food!

  • Non-traditional seafood menu

This restaurant finds interesting ways to serve seafood, and indeed, seems to offer even non-traditional types of seafood. Items on the entree menu include Walleye, Gurnard, and Butter Chicken with Lobster (all of which we tried). The appetizer menu includes a smoked fish platter which is divine. For dessert, we indulged in the decadent Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie with Pralines, Vanilla Mousse and homemade caramal drizzle - begin salivating now. It's heavenly. Even the cocktails are interesting and non-traditional - I had a Gin-GER tonic, made with (from scratch) ginger syrup as well as gin and tonic and garnished with a slice of candied ginger.

Big Fish was one of my favourite restaurants in town. We used to dine at both Big Fish and Open Range at least once a month. However, food quality & portion seemed to have declined significantly of late. We went there for the Monday raw oyster 2 for 1 deal. Oysters were fine with a few tasted mushy and not as fresh as could be. The mussels were tasty; but several did not open. The disappointment was the Seafood Pot which I had before. Mine had 3 mussels, 6 tiny little 2 cm long shrimps, 2 small fish chunks and a whole pile of potatoes and other veggies. A potato veggie soup with seafood for $23?!? The wild salmon was cooked well & tasty. The portion was smaller than before for $32. From now on will go to GreekTown instead.

As usual, Big Fish did not disappoint. The mussels were excellent, flavour is impossible to improve on. I took my niece visiting from England, and she thoroughly enjoyed her Artic Char dish. The pecan pie was excellent, as well as the Creme Brûlée for dessert. Service was excellent as usual! A great dining experience!!

If you are like us, you struggle to find restaurants in Calgary that offer a selection of fresh fish other than the conventional salmon offering. My wife and I found Big Fish. Look no more. Terrific seafood appetizer platter. My wife enjoyed the Manitoba Walleye and I selected the Arctic char. Both were done to perfection and very reasonably priced. Dinner with appetizer and drinks was about $95. We were too full for dessert.

Staff were friendly and accommodating - I was able to bump up my original reservation by an hour. The restaurant was busy, but overall the staff were well organized. The food was delicious, especially the BC mussels appetizer and fresh oysters. It was a little cold, as my table was in the middle of the dining area, but otherwise everything was excellent.

We were referred to Big Fish by friends and decided to dine there for our anniversay. I requested a romantic table by the window through open table and got exactly that! Bravo. We had the halibut and the swordfish and both were superb..Cooked to perfection! Our waiter was excellent.. Very attentive but not bothersome! The pecan pie is the best I've ever had! Would strongly recommend makin reservations as it was very busy. We tried to get in once before without reservations and couldn't!

I picked this restaurant for a special occasion and asked a friend if she had been. She said it was amazing and she had only been there for lunch and based on this thought we should try for dinner. I saw Wednesday's offered free corkage and you could bring your own wine! That was an awesome extra special touch as the friends coming wanted to bring Champagne and they were able to drop it off prior to dinner so it could be chilled. I am not a fish person at all and picked it based on my special guest's preference but had the fish tacos and they were outstanding!

This restaurant albeit small, has a very nice basic menu and offers good value for the money, portions are decent size and well prepared. They were very receptive to our special needs. We will return, the staff was friendly and polite, the main course took a while to come from the Kitchen but its understandably in a small Kitchen and a busy night, my wife had an appetizer for dinner, the portion was very generous and so was my halibut.

I took some friends to Big Fish for brunch for the first time and they said it is their favourite brunch place. Angela provided outstanding service and the food was great! Try the french toast (I don't typically eat sweet stuff for breakfast, but you could always share a slice your friends at the table). The other thing that I thoroughly appreciate is that they take reservations - I wish all brunch places did this because not a lot of people have time to wait around for hours on end to get a table and need to get on with their days!

This was my second time dining here and it did not disappoint. I love seafood and the style and quality of the meals is always amazing. I would definitely recommend the seafood platter which comes with some of the freshest tasting fish I've ever had. It is a bit of a pricier restaurant so I'd save a trip down there for special occasions but the food is always worth it. Try their sister restaurant, Open Range, which is right next door if you're feeling for some red meat instead of seafood. The food there is also top-notch!
