Big Fin Seafood KitchenAs close to perfect as it getsTook my wife and daughter for Mothers Day and they loved it! The menu was exceptional with something for everyone. It was a little pricy but I felt the meals met the price. They made a big deal over the oysters, which were $2.50ea... we got a half dozen... 3 of the 6 are so small you could hardly see anything in the shell - these were oysters that you would use in a thin soup... we sent them back... and they returned with huge oysters. Why they didn't bring them in the first place I don't know? The restaurant was loud... not a good place to spend time. One of the reasons this place remains consistent is because the owner/manager is always present and goes to each table to visit with the guests. The crab crusted grouper was astounding New Orleans style as the waiter recommended with crawfish grits. Wow! The ahi tuna was perfect and not even a tiny bit of fat. Incredible locally owned restaurant and we appreciated the owner stopping by our table to check on us. It was a very pleasant place in a cool area (Dellagio). The atmosphere was a really nice blend of casual in a first class restaurant. For a seafood restaurant, this steak was easily in the top 5 best restaurant steaks I have had. The waiter, Lawrence, was attentive, jovial, and generally nice guy with a sense of humor. We sat in the side room with the lower ceilings and darker lighting, which was nice despite the quite loud noise level. 80% of which were from young children talking about their day at Disney. It was about 8:30 when we were seated (we had reservations for 9 but there was an open spot and where seated immediately.) Excellent experience, hopefully we can come back on a less loud night. It would be more helpful if the specials/drink menu was available to each diner, rather than one per table. With so many choices having that menu in hand is important. Being a food snob, I decided to check it out myself. Quite simply, Big Fin is the finest seafood restaurant I have ever visited...and I thought nothing could exceed Mommas on Maui. I loved the casual yet elegant atmosphere. The fare is simply the freshest and finest quality cuts. I haven't seen King Crab legs of this quality since my last trip to Alaska. The swordfish steak made me realize that I have never truly eaten swordfish. Bobby Moore, the owner, came to our table personally to see that everything was perfect. It was. What an experience. We had read previous reviews and they were spot on. Our appetizer, the calamari was the best we had ever had and the dipping sauce, a chili-Thai sauce was a nice surprise. The swordfish filet was amazing, never had a portion that large and flavorful without being overpowered by seasoning and spice. The popcorn shrimp had an amazing coating, more tempura-like. The grouper with lump crab meat, a house specialty and favorite, was some of the best grouper I had ever had.
The attentive staff made this visit personable and fun. It has definitely made our top 10 all time favorite restaurants. The food was very good and the wine selection by the glass was respectable. The waitstaff were friendly and efficient. The grilled oysters were a favorite. The blue crab dusted grouper and the salmon Rockefeller were also well-prepared and very tasty. I rated this one 4 stars because, while it is very good, for the price you pay, it should be outstanding! It was hard to choose from the choices on the upscale and comprehensive menu (and I am not a huge seafood guy). The service was impeccable. James had full knowledge of the menu and gave appropriate recommendations without the "upsell". The owner and manager each came to speak with us/ check on how we were doing, but it was not in a superficial or forced way. They were personable and easy to talk to. Overall we had a great time. It's not really a place for a quiet intimate dinner and its not a fried shrimp shack either (not stuffy and not touristy).

Food was excellent, portions for price were reasonable. Great fresh seafood. Our server was excellnet, great interactiotion and knowledge without being pushy. Management took time to stop and ask how everything was. Good conversation without intrusion. The house dish of Grouper with Blue crab was excellent. Moist flacky and not overcooked.
