A word from Big City Tavern - Las Olas
Big City Tavern is a busy, vibrant restaurant reminiscent of the great urban taverns of Chicago, New York and Boston. A stylish, classic American restaurant, Big City offers a varied menu featuring dry aged steaks, burgers, fresh seafood, salads and fresh house-made pasta of the day. Some of the more popular dishes are the Pan Roasted Salmon with Tomato and the House-Made Charcuterie. The desserts are all enticing, all house made and all delicious. The extensive wine list emphasizes California varietals by the bottle or glass. With its magnificent grand bar always busy, Big City has a constant din of energy and conviviality. Big City offers outdoor sidewalk dining in the center of the action on Las Olas Blvd.

  • "Been coming to this restaurant very often for the past few years, and I never disappointed. Food, service and ambience are always fun, fresh and inviting. Prices are very comparable to the restaurants in the area, without all the pretentious attitudes."

  • "We were a party of 4 and everyone loved the food they order for brunch! Delicious!!"

  • "Wonderful location, hospitable host. Not impressed with food, needs improvement in my opinion."

  • "We made a reservation for 9:00 and were not seated until nearly 10PM!!! Even after our table was ready we still stood around for almost 10 minutes before they would seat us. Why bother making a reservation if you're going to have to wait over an hour to eat! Slow service."

  • "We were trying to make a show, and our server was quick and ready to go with our bill and to-go boxes right when we asked for them. Food was great! Looking forward to revamped wine list!"

  • "Excellent Service, great food but be ready for a very high noise level, extremely energetic!"

  • "We chose Big City Tavern as a choice for our friends who just arrived from NY. The ambience is great, very lively, and there is a nice option to be seated outdoors and watch all the interesting street traffic along Las Olas Blvd. The menu had a wonderful variety of apps, and main courses, including sandwiches and burgers. The food was DELICIOUS!!! I had the Quinoa salad with grilled shrimp as my main course, and the mussels for an app. Both dishes were very very good, The wine list was quite extensive as well. Will definitely go back!"

  • "Amazing meal. It was just too loud to completely enjoy our evening."

  • "This was the first time we took out of town company to Big City Tavern & we were all quite satisfied. We will definitely return. The steaks were very well prepared as was the scallops."

  • "Las Olas is always known for good restaurants and such is this one. Great crowd and good food. Parking is behind the restaurant but its paid for $7 which is worth it (all night). Food is great but i would recommend to anyone going to make requests for preferred seating as that definitely helps!"

  • "When we arrived this place looked so promising. When we left, we knew we'd never be back. The food was just so-so. Out of the four in our party, no one liked their meal. Calamari was over fried, pasta was over cooked, the short ribs had an odd taste, and in general, the food was over salted and poorly prepared. The free range chicken with roasted Brussels was the brightest spot, but the accompanying dry polenta waffle and the odd maple jus added nothing. The waiter rushed us, pulling plates off the table before we were finished. It's a shame, because the restaurant has great design and decor and a great neighborhood feel."

  • "I had a birthday brunch at Big City and it was a blast! We sat on the patio drinking bottomless mimosas enjoying the folks passing by on Las Olas. The food was delicious basic brunch food (eggs benedict, waffles, etc.). I would suggest making a reservation to grab a patio seat so you can sit back and enjoy!"

  • "Excellent food BUT disappointed in the table for 8 people. We had reservations for 8 people. When we arrived there were MANY empty tables for 8 yet they put us in a booth fit for 6 and told us there was nothing else available because there are other reservations arriving shortly. The manager didn't seem to care that we were stuffed into a small booth. The other tables remained empty until we were having coffee. There are way too many other great restaurants on Las Olas to put up with bad customer service!"

  • "My friend and I came here to dine before a show and the restaurant/bar was busy. The food was very good and service was wonderful. The only negative I would say is that as the evening went on, the music got louder which made it difficult to have a conversation."

  • "We like an energetic place, but when the restaurant adds music to make it so loud that you have to raise your voice to hear each other then it is too energetic. Otherwise food was great."

  • "Mostly bar food so nothing spectacular but great service and right in the middle of Las Olas."

  • "We made the reservations for Big City Tavern since we were going to see the Las Olas Art Fair. There were three of us two of us had the Brunch, one had soup. I had the french toast (they accommodate me since I wanted it on regular bread). My brunch companion had the Belgian waffle. My lady had the tomato soup. We all enjoyed our meals. A bonus was getting 10% off the meal from yelp."

  • "Have been going to this restaurant consistently for the past 4 years especially for the crab cakes. My husband is from Baltimore, MD and is very critical of his crab cakes. Big City's are the best by far in this area. I also would recommend saving room for the pistachio cake with pistachio gelato for dessert. Enjoy!"

  • "Was a great place to sit and eat, even alone. Had a wonderful meal; noise was a little loud, but it was during happy hour, so that was expected. Enjoyed it completely. Service was excellent."

  • "The only thing I would change is the bread which is new to me it has to much oil The menu never changes except for specials can count on the food and service Price reasonable"

  • "Big City Tavern delivers a consistently good dining experience in line with sister restaurants Grease, City Oyster, Roccos Tacos, et. al. The menu is varied and interesting with unique combinations. Specials were excellent. One of the Cabernets being served by the glass, Martini and Rossi, was EXCELLENT! Our server was also excellent. Handled a table of 7 with ease. Food was delivered in a timely manner and as ordered. All of the entrees were very good if not jump out of your seat exciting. Prices are on the high side so expect to spend more than usual. I was surprised that an automatic gratuity was NOT added to our check for 7, but gladly tipped the excellent service."

  • "Decided on the T-Bone special - great decision. The manager came over and described how it was prepared - something about cryogenically freezing the cut, then poaching it in 150 degree water to cook it through, then slapping it on the grill... Anyway, it was absolutely delicious, as were the potatoes that came on the side. Only thing missing was a veggie. Thought that was odd, but I guess we could've ordered a la carte. Overall fantastic steak!"

  • "Great help from open table, we were on Las Olas looking for somewhere to have dinner and were able to get a quick reservation into Big City tavern. The restaurant was very accomodating, they had us seated and with a drink on the table quickly and couteously. We were with friends visiting from Paris and they were impressed with the ability to gete reservations while on the sidewalk on Las Olas."

  • "Other than being a little loud, this place was wonderful!! I had the grilled tenderloin that was cooked to perfection, hubs got the fancy chicken and waffles which he also loved. Would def return here for a special occasion, because it's a little pricy for a regular night out!"

  • "I took my wife and nine year old daughter for Valentines dinner and had a wonderful time. The restaurant was energetic yet still romantic. It was also kid friendly at the same time. The food was great and the service was excellent! Afterwards we were able to walk up Las Olas blvd and window shop. Great evening and would recommend this place. We will be back."

  • "I have always enjoyed Big City's pasta, for years. However, this nite it was not so good. It was mushy and over cooked. Once out of 100 times of ordering this, isn't so bad, but should be bought to the managers attention."

  • "We really enjoy coming to Big City Tavern. The food is very good and we had a really great waiter. We had the Asian calamari for an appetizer and then both my husband and I had the quinoa salad with chicken. This is a definite must if your on Las Olas!"

  • "Went there with a group of 5 and everything was great. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The menu had something for everyone from salads to steaks. Not overpriced for being on Las Olas. Would recommend."

  • "We waited over 50 minutes for our food to be served after we ordered, without any acknowledgement or follow up. When the food arrived, some of the meals were cold as well as the replacement dishes."

  • "great food, and super attentive, excellent service. The swordfish special was moist and delicious."

  • "Went here the other night with 4 friends. We were sat promptly thanks to our open table reservation. The server was attentive and energized. The food took what seemed like forever, but it gave us all time to catch up. I used to have difficuly figurining out what to eat here, trying to find something healthy and a warm other than a salad. But the server was able to substitute the risotto with veggies on my scallops dish. It was perfect and very tasty. iIn the end I am giving my experience 5 stars, with 1 less star for the wait for food and the high noise level."

  • "Celebrated my birthday with six family members including my one year old grandson. The food and service were close to excellent, everyone in my party enjoyed their dinner selections. Also, the restaurant was very accommodating to my grandson, the manager even stopped by our table to play with him. This was my second visit to this restaurant; it appears to be consistently great.."
