A word from Big Bowl-Reston
There’s really only one place for authentic Chinese and Thai, and that's Big Bowl. It all begins with the highest quality ingredients–naturally raised chicken and beef, heirloom pork, sustainable seafood and produce grown locally. Because Big Bowl believes that the best food is made from scratch, you can taste big, bold layers of flavors in every dish, from the curries right down to the dipping sauces.

Everyone raves about the pad Thai, our spicy dishes that are truly hot, and our create-your-own stir-fry–and for good reason. Every element adds up to big taste and takes our food to another level, be it a fresh squeeze of lime, fragrant herbs or the seared Thai chilies.

Big Bowl is so big on authentic flavors that even the ginger ale is made with fresh ginger root–from scratch, of course.

This one of our favorite spots for quick, affordable, delicious Chinese/Thai food. Service was great as was the food. I had the Pad Thai and my son had beef with broccoli. Both were excellent. The steamed dumplings are some of the best we have had. They have toned down the music, much appreciated!

This is the first time I've ever had a problem at Big Bowl. Usually the food is delivered quickly but this time it took 45 minutes to have 2 entrees served. It was shrimp and scallops...2 meals that cook very quickly. I am not sure what the problem was but it wasn't my best experience...once we finally got our food we had to rush to eat it and be back to our jobs without going over the designated hour for lunch. Our waitress was slow and the kitchen seemed to be horribly backed up.

The food here was good and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. I found that there were a lot of options on the menu, especially fresh options: they make their soups fresh daily, and the ginger ale is made in house. They also have a "make-your-own" stir-fry bar like those Mongolian grill places, so you can get exactly what you want. I had the ginger ale and ordered off the menu. The crab cake-like appetizer I had was OK, but the beef dish that I had (12-spice beef, I think it was called) was excellent. I didn't try dessert, but they looked pretty good as well. If I am in the area again, I'll probably be back.

Service is pretty good at the tables but the front desk handling reservations was extremely inefficient - even with two people and individual computers, they were processing one party at a time. The table we sat at was supposed to be for 6 people but ended up squished between two other group tables so the manager had to request one of the tables to move a little bit which still left us with bare minimum space. That said, food was VERY good - everyone at the table raved about their meals on the way home both in terms of creativity and taste. So I'd probably still go back there - I do recommend reservations.

I reserved a table and specially requested a brownie cake with a lit candle at the table when it arrived. It wasent there and the manager apologized and said that they forgot. Upon going to get the cake he realized the browines were done so he gave us any other desert free. The food was good but lacked a lot of flavor and spice. I recommend this to those without a craving for spice.

We had a great dinner at Big Bowl in Reston. We had spent the day touring DC and it was a wonderful atmosphere to unwind and relax. Everyone had different tastes and all of us loved our meals. The hot and sour soup was the best I have ever had. Our waitress was very attentive and gave us great suggestions for brunch the next morning. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This is the type of place that tries to do everything all at once. Every type of asian fusion, al la carte, make your own buffet, etc. I always get the make your own stirfry. It's fine, nothing crazy. Both quantity and price are high. Good business lunch, as everyone can get what they want.

My first Big Bowl experience was in the Chicago area and I loved it! I was thrilled to learn there was an east coast location in Reston. Food is so fresh & delicious I forget it is a chain restaurant. I love Thai food & their pad Thai is the best I've had. The sauces for the pot stickers & stir fry are so flavorful & unique. The homemade ginger ale & ginger cocktails are a must. In the warm weather, the outdoor seating is a great place to people watch. My husband & I happily drive an hour to eat here!

The past 4 years I never had issues. But this time, we were denied a Kids Menu. Our child can't usually even finish the Kids Menu item (any restaurant same thing - she just does not have good apetite). But I spoke to the manager who said she will make an exception for "this one day" which is not what we are looking for. But the dinner itself - we always enjoy. 100% marks for that.

My fiance and I took my soon to be inlaws here on Saturday evening. They had really good food, and it was a nice place inside. The only downside is that if you're trying to talk to the people you're out to dinner with, you won't hear them. The noise level is extremely bad. Primarily due to the large amount of patrons, but they also had music on, and I believe that makes the patrons have to speak louder. Overall it was a good exeperience, but I can't remember the last time I was at a nice restaraunt and the noise level reminded me of Redskins game. Otherwise the cocktails were great, the apps, and the main dishes were as expected.

Don't come here if you want to be able to talk to your table mates! It's so loud you can't hear the person talking next to you. The service was pretty slow, to the point that we wondered why we ordered an appetizer because we really just wanted our food at that point. Taste of food was pretty good, but not sure that overcame the other issues of the place

Food is good. The menu could use some enhancements. Meals say "spring" vegetables or "in season vegetables" but the Waiter's sometimes don't know what's included. The restaurant is extremely loud. Sitting across from someone and you can hardly hear them. Also, not sure why they allow you to reserve a table, you always have to wait even with a reservation.
