A word from Big Bowl - Minnetonka
There’s really only one place for authentic Chinese and Thai–and that’s Big Bowl. It all begins with the highest quality ingredients–naturally raised chicken and beef, heirloom pork, sustainable seafood and produce grown locally. Because Big Bowl believes that the best food is made from scratch, you can taste big, bold layers of flavors in every dish, from the curries right down to the dipping sauces.

Everyone raves about the pad Thai, our spicy dishes that are truly hot, and our create-your-own stir-fry–and for good reason. Every element adds up to big taste and takes our food to another level, be it a fresh squeeze of lime, fragrant herbs or the seared Thai chilies.

Big Bowl is so big on authentic flavors that even the ginger ale is made with fresh ginger root–from scratch, of course.

Diner Reviews
  • "My husband & I love big bowl --- and you really can't beat the perks for the Lettuce Entertain You Club. I highly recommend the build-your-own stir fry as well as their home made Ginger Ales. Everything there tastes fresh & delicious."

  • "Great food but wine list needs to be expanded a bit to include light red Italian wines like Tavernello Sangiovese which is 12% alcohol."

  • "In the past, we liked to go to Big Bowl for special occasions. However, our experiences are becoming less and less memorable. The food is good and we usually get the Stir Fry Bar. We also get an occasional Lettuce Entertain you coupon, etc which incents us to return. However, the service was unusually poor this time (perhaps a new waiter?) We were forgotten for a very long time and when the waiter finally provided a bill, there was a mistake. The manager happened to stop at our table and he was able to resolve the issue. Also, when we book through Open Table, we're prompted to list special occasions, etc....that never seems to be communicated to Big Bowl, so not sure why we do that?"

  • "Our first time dining at Big Bowl. They made the "Top 100" restaurants according to 2013 MN Monthly, so we gave them a try. We ate outside and even though the restaurant is part of the Ridgedale Mall and our view was a mall entrance, it was pleasant. The restaurant interior looked nice. The group shared an order of Summer Rolls and Pot Stickers which were both good. A lot of greens in the Summer Rolls. Two of us had Pad Thai (great and chicken extremely tender, plenty of food); one had the stir fry bar (wonderful) and our last diner had Orange Chicken (good, but with only rice and about 9 bites of chicken [no vegetables to speak of] he left hungry). "

  • "Our family chose from the sharing menu and had several items that we might not have chosen individually. The food was uniformly excellent and this allowed us to sample items that will likely become new favorites. The portion sizes were more than adequate, making this menu one of the best bargains as well."

  • "The restaurant was pretty slow inside, outside dining was starting to fill up. We dined outside. We weren't approached for over 5 minutes, even when others were there were seated after us. An employee with a floral print was walking by so we asked if we could get some help. Well she wasn't thrilled by it. She just wasn't nice. Once our server arrived, she was awesome! Food is always fantastic!"

  • "My only complaint is the excessively frequent high frequency beeping that is part of their food service technology -- extremely annoying!"
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "The last time we were in our dishes were too salty. Decided to try again and this time they were perfect!"

  • "Love to come here for lunch, wasn't sure how to rate the noise, it was not noisy in there and it was packed. Great kids menu too."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "There were four of us dining at Big Bowl. We had the chicken satay for appetizers. They were very good. We all ordered a different entre and all of us loved our choices. Everything was very flavorfull! One of our group misspoke when ordering something special about her choice. When the food came, she was going to eat it even though it wasn't the way she wanted, but the server had them make it the way she wanted! He was so nice! The only negative was that it was rather loud, but it was a crowded evening...we were still able to hear each other."
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "It doesn't come along very often that everyone in your group likes what they ordered. That happened this time around. I had the cashew chicken. It says hot but I got some fresh peppers to go along with it... That made it perfect. My only complaint was the waiter was a little slow getting around to us but the place was packed. Other than that the service was great! "

  • "THE RESTURANT WAS SO NOISY YOU COULDN'T HEAR YOURSELF THINK. THE FOOD WAS SUB PAR, HAD CHICKEN PAD TAI, HARDLY ANY CHICKEN, OR BEAN SPROUTS OR PEANUTS IN IT AND WAS SERVED WITH LEMON INSTEAD OF LIME. TtHESE ARE THE KEY INGREDIENTS TO THIS DISH. tHE WAITRESS DID EXPLAIN THAT THEY A SHIPMENT OF LIMES AND THEY WERE ALL BAD. BUT WE WERE SERVED A LITTLE SLIVER OF LEMON. ANOTHER GRIPE I HAVE THEY NOW GIVE A SMALL WINE GLASS AND POUR WARM WATER OUT OF A USED WINE BOTTLE. ISH! "

  • "This it our family's favorite place for eat out. We love the clear taste of food, service. Our 6-years old is very picky with food but chicken satay is her favorite and it is only protein she eats!"

  • "I like to eat at a restaurant that offers me something I can't make at home. Big Bowl is such a restaurant. The spring rolls are delicious. My favorite is the make your own stir fry bar - the available options for veggies and sauces are so much more than I am able to make at home. We were celebrating a birthday with grandparents that had never been there before. As new guests, they received some tasty wontons."

  • "The Gluten Free menu is not length but very appreciated."

  • "Enjoyed our evening very much. They did sit us in the bar, which worked out, because we got happy hour prices on drinks. The server did a fantastic job. The menu offers a large variety of Asian foods. I had a Thai dish, very crisp, fresh, and flavorful. Husband had the fill your bowl type. Always a hit when you can choose vegs and meat, and sauce. Would highly recommend. Prices are right."

  • "Our waiter did an awesome job of explaining the menu to us from front-to-back. Everything went according to plan after that. Drinks, appetizers, and entrees all arrived in a timely fashion. Food was delicious, as you'd expect from Big Bowl. The Spicy Chicken was fantastic. My wife opted for the stir fry bar, which looked loaded with fresh veggies, and raved about her dish!"

  • "Food was good, but service was very slow. We sat at table for 5-7 minutes before a server acknowledged us. We had made a reservation and we were seated immediately! :) it was early afternoon on a Saturday and very busy,"
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "We had a 'mixed' experience. Forgot my Lettuce Entertain You coupon...my fault.....waitress couldn't help us out. Food was good. Service was fair. Didn't like the small bottles of water/small water glasses on the table instead of getting ice water in regular sized glasses. We noted a special birthday party on the Open Table reservation, but were disappointed that Big Bowl forgot/ignored it."

  • "absolutly love thier mongolian beef and sichwan stake entere."

  • "The food was very good and we had plenty to take home for another meal. The place was packed and several parties had to be turned away."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The food was outstanding, but we were seated in the far back, despite having made the reservation. Shortly after they took our plates away, we were asked to leave or move to another table, as they wanted to set up for a party. Needless to say, our conversation among colleagues was cut short, and we won't be back to this location."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "Big bowl is authentic Asian food as Olive Garden is authentic Italian cuisine. This place is casual, fun and a great spot for lunch or a family night out. Select something off the menu, or grab your own veggies into a bowl for a 'personalized' rice dish. It has a small bar and open kitchen concept - so you feel a part of the action when an aluminum pan crashes to the floor."

  • "I always enjoy eating here. I'm pleased that they now also have lunch portions, though I don't mind taking home leftovers!"

  • "The service was great and the food was perfect! We appreciated that our table was held a while - we had all been a bit detained getting there due to bad weather."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "I got the stir fry with crusted chicken and egg noodles with red curry sauce and it was very good. I also had the chef pick the vegetables and he did a very good job. Otherwise you can get a bowl and fill it with whatever vegetables you would like in it. The service was very fast and polite. There was a little bit of noise but nothing that was too much to handle. Had an overall great dining experience."

  • "Big Bowl has very delicious food with great flavor. The service is hospitable and food arrives quickly. The atmosphere is very nice. The noise level was a bit loud, but ok."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "We went there to celebrate our friends birthday. It was a small group of four people. The ambiance was super loud with the stir fry bar very close to us. It was very crowded. I could barely hear what the other person is saying to me. if you are health conscious please ask the table attendant to put less soy sauce and slat to your dish. the untrained chef put lot of soy sauce , and salt in my spicy thai chicken. It is only good for group lunch not a place were you would like to catch up with your loved ones. the staff over there could be rude at times too when they would refuse to replace your dish or apologize for the salt level in the dish!! Very disappointed and would NOT RECOMMEND THIS place to anyone."
    Dined on 1/16/2014
  • "We love this restaurant but would not get group share again. Seafood and beef dishes were disappointing. 7 flavor chicken and appetizers were great. Apple crisp was poor. Chocolate cake and cheesecake were ok. We will stick with make your stir fry. It is super!"
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "The food is always good when I go to Big Bowl. This time the Kung Pao sauce seemed a little extra spicy though. That kind of detracted from the experience this time."
    Dined on 1/15/2014
  • "Made an early reservation on New Years Eve for the whole family. Mom, Dad and the 2 kids. It wasn't very busy but seemed to always be waiting (to take our order, for drinks, clear plates). The food was off that night. The kids always get the chicken noodle soup and I always get the sesame chicken. Both dishes were not great or as good as we have had in the past. We will probably try them again, to hopefully redeem themselves."

  • "Food was excellent. There are great seats seats there but we were stuck in a back corner with little ambience. Service was very good. Excellent value for the food that we received."

  • "Wonderful friendly and helpful staff. They were able to get my pArty of 20 in with no problem. The service was great. They gave me a pretty birthday dessert with Happy Birthday written in cocoa powder on the plate. My pad thai tasted like fish oil and was not very good, but usually I like their food. Really appreciated the no-hassle birthday dinner they allowed me to enjoy :)"

  • "Always predictable. You can always count on the food, the service. Have probably had every item on their menu, and no other restaurant keeps me coming back like this. Love the fresh flavors of everything at Big Bowl. Even when they overcooked a dish, and it came out much later than the rest, they took care of us and comp'ed the order. Plus, they have a lot of really good looking waiters. :-)"

  • "I was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and have therefore become highly focused on eating more consciously. The gluten-free menu offered me plenty of choices. The wait staff (Mark) took particular care to guide me in the menu. Truth be told, he was equally helpful to my gluten-glutton dining companions. The house-made ginger ale was truly incredible. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. Next time we are in the Twin Cities we will be sure to spend at least one meal out at Big Bowl."
