Extraordinary FoodOne of the best meals I have ever eaten. We will plan a trip to Philadelphia just so we can dine at Bibou again.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMa little France in south Philly,a little France in south Philly, it should have extraterritoriality.
Bistrot kind of food at a level that is always better than bistrot and often is at the level of the best restaurants.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy ladies birthday dinner!Overall a wonderful dinner. Expectations going to Bibou are extremely high. That is why I only give 4 stars. The escargot was delightful. Foie gras was out of this world, especially the custard. Bone marrow stuffing was amazing with 2005 Chevrey Chambartin I brought. My only knock would be the entrées. The were very good but not great. The hanger steak with green peppercorn steak was yum and tender but still it's only hanger steak. The Wreckfish with the oat bread had exciting flavors. Little over cooked to my perception. I'm probably wrong. Service loosened up and my French girl really enjoyed herself. Which is what counts. Interesting side note: the table next to us of Ukranians, was openly discussing laundering money. Ha. I will be back.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversaryFoie gras is a must order. I specifically go here for this French specialty. I make the trek in for South jersery for special occasions. I have to come here for authentic french food since most restaurants are french fusion or American french.
The sorbet is a very delicious ending to a perfect meal.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible food, rushed serviceMy husband and I came here for our anniversary. We chose Sunday for the 4-course for $45 menu. Every bit was amazing. My only issue with the restaurant was that the courses were served immediately after the plates were cleared from the course before. I would have appreciated 5-10 minutes in between to let my stomach digest a bit and to not feel like they were trying to rush through our meal so they could use the table again. Our reservation was at 5:30, and the couple using our table next arrived at about 7:00. An hour and a half for a romantic dinner with wine is not enough.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! This was my first visit, but it surely won't be my last. The specials for the day were smoked snail ravioli with ramps and fiddle head ferns. The pasta was clearly home made, and everything was melt in your mouth delcious. Then we had the bone marrow special entree, which was outstanding. They mix the marrow with mushrooms, breadcrumbs, and herbs and then bake it back in the bone. It was served with a light green salad and the best fried potatoes I have ever tasted. Then my husband had the Veal sweetbread turrine, and the lamb...ohh man, that lamb was so buttery and delicous. So flavorful! The sweetbread turrine was very good, and the portion was decent. Ended with coffee and chocolate cake and the chef stopped by to say thanks. Amazing!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWill Return AgainI came back and will go back again. I don't often return to a restaurant but Bibou is different. My first visit was wonderful but there were things on the menu that I wanted to try. My second time I tried a few different dishes and they told me that I should make a reservation to return. It's friendly, and the chef turns out wonderful dishes.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply amazingOne of the best meals I've had anywhere. The food was excellent and the service impeccable while winningly warm. A tiny BYOB that you cannot help loving. I will be returning every chance I get.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming & delightfulExcellent staff, warm & inviting. Changed our 7pm dining table reservation to 5pm @ 2 seat bar. Extremely accommodating & pleasant. Very tight quarters but enjoyed the nice repartee with all. Don't know how they do it. Wonderful scallop in shell appetizer , dorade in light foamy broth, floating island. Not a fan of bone marrow as it was mostly breadcrumbs albeit good flavor. Sweetbreads were a little thick, meaty would have preferred a crispy version.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect mealAmazing experience at this tiny byob. Went on Sunday night for their 4 course prix fixe. Include chilled Cucumber soup, appetizer (had foie gras and escargots) entrees (scallops and veal sweetbreads) and desserts (floating pyramids). Everything was amazing, foie gras was one of the best things I've tasted. Would definitely recommend for a date, there was also a group if 12 that night so apparently this tiny place can accommodate groups as well. Service was great, and head chef Pierre coming out to greet us at the end of the meal was a nice touch. I am very much looking forward to coming back here5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, our favorite placeAs always, our favorite place for special occasions. Trruly wonderful food and lovely, gracious hosts.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBibou provides a consistentlyBibou provides a consistently wonderful meal. Menu has meat and fish choices prepared a variety of ways so something for everyone unless you are a vegan (but this is French inspired cooking). Dining space is at a premium and tables are close, but the appropriately attentive staff makes the experience intimate and warm. Chef taking time to talk to patrons is a lovely plus.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AM3 of 4 of us had a wonderful3 of 4 of us had a wonderful eating experience. I finally ate escargots that I thought I could trust --have never tried them anywhere else. My wife's caille was a little pink and the rice with the dish was not cooked enough. Our friend's caille, he liked a lot. My fish dinner had a wonderful carrot emulsion and very nice tasting black barley. Very good desserts.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were amazing! The chef even came out at one point to talk to us. since the meal was outstanding3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were greeted at the doorWe were greeted at the door by Charlotte and welcomed into a cozy little bistro. Our server was top notch and we enjoyed each course of the tasting menu. Highly recommended little BYOB for a special night out.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBibou was truly sensational!Dining at Bibou was truly sensational! The Foie gras and bone marrow were amazing. I've had Foie in some of the best restaurants in the world and Bibou is now the front runner. The attentive service and intimate atmosphere compliment the delectable menu. Don’t forget it is BYOB; this gives you the luxury of bringing your own wine to pair with your courses. To top off the evening the Chef visits every table and personally thanks you for dining at his Restaurant. We can’t wait to dine at Bibou again and introduce our friends to this French gem!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCash only - BYOB This isCash only - BYOB
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food is amazing and clearly made with love and passion. The staff are friendly and attentive and the chef greets every one of his customers when they've completed their meal to get feedback. It's difficult to get a reservation but is well worth the wait once you do.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe pigs foot is one of thoseThe pigs foot is one of those dishes you will never forget!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe LOVE Bibou!!!We LOVE Bibou!!! Absolutely everything was exceptional from the moment we walked in the door until long after we left. I can't say enough about Chef's special "Bone Marrow" dish and my husband's lamb shank was perfect. We didn't leave a single bite of anything on our plates. We can't wait to return!3/6/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can forget you are notYou can forget you are not in France. Very authentic bistro. Truffle risotto was outstanding as was the cassoulet . Cheese course was superb. The "floating island" dessert was as good as I have had in Paris. Owner/chef Pierre very pleasant as was the service in general. The place itself is quite small but not excessively loud or cramped despite that. Given the food quality and small size, difficulty of procuring a reservation is understandable. However, it is well worth the wait. We will be back, likely many times more.1/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
