BibianaSuperb RestaurantWhen my husband suggested the restaurant, I looked it up on the web. The website did not really reveal how delightful the restaurant was. The tables looked cold and the menu did not immediately pop out to me. I must say, though, that upon arriving at the restaurant we were greeted like we were special and the table we got was in a perfect location for the type of dinner we had. The service was impeccable and the food was delightful and priced well. I had the waiter choose the wine to pair with my meal and it was right on. I don't normally have dessert, but was intrigued by the menu so I gave in.. It was the BEST. We were not disappointed, the food and service were excellent, the atmosphere was romantic and the noise level was perfect for holding a conversation. The food was a work of art and it was a shame that we had to eat it, but we are glad we did. You must try the calamari, but order two or three orders, they are exceptionally small (not even enough for one person), the complimentary bread and olive oil are as exceptional as you will find anywhere, and the do not forget to save room for dessert. The service was spot on. There is good service then there is exceptional service where you see the waiter glancing from across the room, checking out your wine glass and noting whether you need anything, then he swoops in right on que. The room is beautiful. My only complaint is that it is a small restaurant and the table are close together. There really aren't any opportunities to have an intimate conversation. The only rival to its aesthetic was its taste. The Moleche was, by far, the most delicious soft shell I've ever consumed. Although I didn't order the Nero Di Seppia, I raved about the dish so much that one of my party ordered and shared it; every time, this classic perfectly excites every taste bud and emotion. I ended with the expresso gelato. My advice to everyone--try this magnificent dessert, a happy marriage of hot and cold I always enjoy Bibiana. We were celebrating our special anniversary by staying at the Grand Hyatt in DC. It was a block from the hotel. Bibiana was outstanding. The staff was extremely welcoming. My spouse and I agreed that Bibiana was a perfect place to celebrate. Every dish that we ordered was delicious. The presentation was beautiful. Service was great. Decor was chic. But neither took away from my experience. I just noticed after having read them. Our waiter was very abrupt and while he knew the menu well, he was not able to explain much to me. It uses many terms I was unfamiliar with and resorted to Google. The manager however was wonderful and animated as he described the dishes and gave extremely helpful recommendations. Particularly helpful were the wine recommendations because while I know varietals of Italian grapes, I was lost with the wines, all Italian, and most of which came with a hefty price tag. Food was delicious and rich.
