  • "This is the most consistently wonderful restaurant in Sacramento!"
    Dined on 7/29/2014
  • "We wanted the fixed price menu as it was described on the web site. Then at the restaurant we were told that it was not available that day. Also, it took a very long time for our entree to arrive. We thought we were forgotten. Otherwise very nice. Would rather have a table all to ourselves, however."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary at Biba. As always, a tasty meal and excellent service. My wife ordered the Thursday/Friday-only Lasagne Verdi alla Bolognese, a 10-layer lasagne which melts in your mouth. I ordered a Salmon dish, which was a chef's menu addition for the evening. Delicious!"

  • "We are regulars at Biba's, but I forgot how amazing the lasagne is. It is only available on Thursday and Friday evening, but it is the best in the country. Everything else was as it should be. One of the only Sacramento restaurants that is better than most of Napa or San Francisco's best."

  • "The food was excellent but for the number of people in the restaurant the service was extremely slow. Is a good thing we had all the time in the world. Menu is limited but adequate. The quality is there"

  • "Superb Italian food, pleasant, efficient service, good, varied wine list, atmosphere is casual but upscale. A bit noisy, but not too much so, we stayed in Sacremento specificly to eat at Biba."

  • "Our experience was again very good. The restaurant did seem a little noisy this time. Our waitress was vey good (Gigi). Bib and her General Manager Scott did stop by our table to check o us. We had a very nice, romantic evening."

  • "As always, dining at Biba was a pleasure. The environment is a lovely setting in which to enjoy wonderful food and great service."

  • "While the dining room still has its charm (regardless of the dated furniture), we were disappointed with the quality of the food. We shared the gnocchi as an appetizer, served with Biba's fabulous butter sage sauce; the gnocchi itself was denser and chewier then I remembered. The Veal Milanese was a very thin piece of veal heavily breaded and fried, I wouldn't consider this entree fine dining. The lamb shank had the flavors I love, though after removing the fat, there really wasn't much meat to savor; and it was served with a bland polenta. My dessert sounded and looked fabulous but didn't taste very good. The only item that was truly outstanding was the creme brulee."

  • "We wanted to do something special for our 70th Anniversary. We wanted a special dinner & restaurant with our son & daughter-in law & we were delighted to have all our wishes met at Biba's . The atmosphere was perfect & our dinner (we all ordered braised lamb shanks) was wonderful. The shanks melted in our mouths & we decided they were the best we'd ever eaten. We had always wanted to try Biba's but it was too many miles from Folsom for old folks, so we finally made it with our chauffeur son. We don't know how many Anniversaries we have left but we've decided we will spend them all at Biba's."

  • "I admit I had high expectations and Biba was more than expected in every way. Wonderful staff and excellent food a true gem in Sacramento."

  • "We dined on July 11th. Our server, Jeannine, was very attentive. My husband started with the romaine salad and the dressing was delightful, not too heavy. He had their signature 10 layer lasagna that was over the top with flavor and serving size! I had their basil/cucumber soup that was very refreshing using seasonal ingredients. I had an entrée special of swordfish served with fagioli pasta. The fish was very fresh, firm and lightly seasoned. The pasta was a different and appreciated accompaniment! The supporting wait stuff were very attentive!"

  • "Met some friends at Biba's for their fixed price lunch. The service was outstanding along with the food. The cold summer squash soup was to die for and the rigatoni pasta dish that we chose for our entree was the best I have ever eaten. The sauce was creamy with a smokey taste. Lots of complex flavors that made the experience perfect with the Syrah I brought in. I definitely recommend this restaurant and plan on returning soon."

  • "The place, Sacramento's finest Italian restaurant, is elegant, refined, with great food and wonderful service. I enjoyed the lentil soup to start, followed by a wonderful salad of grilled prawns and roasted peppers and eggplant, with a sumptuous zabaglione with fresh berried for dessert. And they have a great fixed-price lunch special menu. At dinner the choices are even greater and there is a truly excellent wine list. Definitely the place to go for a relaxed, elegant delicious meal. The proprietor, Biba Caggiano, is the author of several excellent and well-known cookbooks on Italian cooking."

  • "Our lunch was organized to thank a colleague for exceptional assistance and we felt she enjoyed the relaxed, elegant dining area and perfectly attentive service, not to mention the delicious cuisine. We were able to enjoy our conversation in the peaceful atmosphere and all felt that we had had a wonderful treat indeed."

  • "Ive admired and been inspired by Biba since the 90's when Id watch her on pbs. My daughter gave my husband and I a gift cert for dinner for our anniversary. It met and exceeded my expectations. Our server was so kind and knowledgeable, he helped us understand the menu, took our order and didn't bug us too much, or make us feel uncomfortable, he made our experience all the better! The highest point of the evening, besides our wonderful meal (lamb shank w/polenta & Halibut on fresh corn) was meeting the legendary Biba:)) It made my night and I am still smiling today! It was probably our best anniversary dinner ever, and that's saying a lot since its our 28th! Thank you to Biba and all of the lovely staff, and our darling server:)"

  • "A friend and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Biba's recently. Seems that regardless of the specials and other menu offerings, I always fall back on their luscious spaghetti carbonara. Made with pancetta rather than bacon, it is a tasty and most filling lunch. My friend opted for the daily Cioppino special and also enjoyed every last bite. The dining room, with its muted lemon-colored walls, provides a peaceful respite from the hubbub of downtown. I always look forward to an outing at Biba's!"

  • "We have lived in the Sacramento area (Rocklin) for 15 years and although Biba's is about 25 miles away, it is our favorite restaurant. Outstanding food, very experienced and helpful staff."

  • "When you go to a restaurant that is a little pricey, you go with high expectations. My husband's pork chop was actually dry. Midway through, he was asked how his dinner was and he said it was dry. The waitress brought out some sauce but he was almost done. He didn't finish his dinner so we brought it home. I also mentioned that my halibut was dry. I expected a flaky, juicy halibut. . It had a crust that was hard. Once I cut through the crust, the fish was over cooked and dry. The prices for these dishes was pricey. Our expectations were high but certainly not met. Our waitress really took care of us. She did not charge us for my dinner or our dessert."

  • "From the moment we sat down for a pre-dinner drink through the last sip of coffee with dessert, the dining experience was top notch. Excellent service and fabulous food. Best calamari our group had ever had - clearly fresh and expertly cooked. The mixed green salad and romaine salad were fresh and expertly dressed. We all had the 10-layer lasagne - oh my! The lasagne is fabulous - a true work of art that practically melts in your mouth. We ended our meal with the gelato and coffee. A wonderful dining experience. Our server was friendly, but not intrusive. Service was brisk, but never rushed. And despite a busy night, the noise level in the restaurant did not prevent dinner conversation. Biba - we will be back!"

  • "It was our 8th anniversary & wanted to try somewhere new. I've heard about Biba from a friend & it was really good. Even though we were 10 mins late from reservation, it was Tuesday evening & Biba herself greeted us warmly. The ambience was nice but there was a big group of 15-20 guys & they were getting really loud.(think they were getting drunk) Except that, the food & service were very good. Our server brought out our desserts with candles on & it was very sweet of her. We would definitely go back."

  • "Excellent food, professional and timely wait staff, in a lovely environment. My only quibble: it can be noisy, both in the bar and the restaurant, when the place is packed."

The service was impeccable and the food exceeded our expectations. We have celebrated special occasions at Biba Restaurant and have never been disappointed.....they are at the top of our list!"

  • "Went for lunch and it was fabulous. The Lasagna was superb as always and the Gnocchi which was light and delicious. Beet salad was yummy and a great starter. Our desserts were great as well. Gelato was so rich and the Lemon tart delectable. Our server was very good and friendly. I highly recommend it for a great lunch!"

  • "We had a wonderful time at Biba's. The food and service were excellent. The only negative comment would be that the decor needs to be spruced up a bit. It wasn't terrible, I just think it needs to be tweeked."

  • "Food and service were exceptional, although somewhat overpriced. Reduced the rating by one star because the room was drafty which adversely affected the overall experience. Next time I will bring a sweater."

  • "From the Parking valets outside to the Hostesses just inside the door to the waitress and the bus person: I felt the focus was completely on our experience. The bread sticks were an indicator of the great meal. They were crisp and have a hearty garlic flavor. Bibas dishes are all excellent. My wife and I had the cold asparagus soup. Each spoonful tasted like the essence of asparagus. I had spaghetti carbonara for my entree. The pancetta had a great roasted flavor and the texture of the pasta enhanced by the egg and cheese. I enjoyed 2 glasses of Pinot Grigiot from the by the glass selection of the wine menu. My wife enjoyed a single glass of Prosecco from the same menu. She thought it excellent. "

  • "We stopped in for lunch, and took advantage of the fixe prix lunch deal. This was a wonderful soup (or salad) and entree for $15. The wine of the month was a great Primitivo, which really set off our pork cutlets. Our server was very knowledgeable and answered many questions and chatted (lunch was not crowded), and afterwards helped us search for recipes in the cookbooks offered for sale. As we were buying the book, Biba came by, autographed the book, and chatted awhile. A place of good food and memories."
