Biba RestaurantBIBA'S IS FABULOUSLove this restaurant. The food is wondeful and the service is the best.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AM3 Sisters LunchExcellent food. We each had a different entre ~ all outstanding. Perfect serving sizes. Wait staff friendly but not overly so. Very comfortable environment. Never felt rushed. While the wine list is extensive, I would like to see a few more local wineries represented, especially Lodi.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch at Biba'sWe had lunch at Biba's and the service was outstanding. We were able to split a salad and a dessert with no problem. The salad was a house salad and was simple but the dressing was excellent. The dessert was wonderful, it was chocolate rasberry gelato and you really tasted the rasberries. One of us had the shrimp pasta with tomato sauce which was very good and the other diner had the scallop pasta dish which was also very good. We had ice tea but the wine list is extensive. I had been to Biba's on various occasions in the past and have never been disappointed. We enjoyed our lunch a great deal.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur FavoriteThis has long been our favorite Sacramento restaurant. We have been coming here for over 20 years and have not once been disappointed. The quality of the food remains excellent, and the service is attentive but not intrusive. This particular visit we drove from our home in Nevada to eat here on my birthday. Well worth it and an added plus on my day.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNobody Does it BetterBiba has made the art of dining truly an art. Service is impeccable, food is always outstanding, and the drinks are classic. Yes, the prices are on the high side, but the prix fixe menu on weeknights helps, and there seems to be more lower priced wines on the extensive list than ever before. This is not the spot for molecular gastronomy, just Italian specialties done very well. Don't miss the lasagna, which is served only on Thursdays and Fridays.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSix starsI've been going to Bibas over 25 years now and believe it to be the best Italian Restaurant I've ever dined in, in the USA. The antipasti we had on our recent visit were perfect: Sweetbeads and Scallops, followed by the lightest carbonara we've had anywhere, and the main courses were also superb. Thinking back on not only the most recent visit but all of them, Biba's consistently delivers extraordinary classic Italian cuisine, and we've never been disappointed in a single dish. The service was also outstanding, and always has been. There should be a special category for Restaurants like Biba on Open Table: Five stars are not enough, she deserves six, maybe seven.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHeared about Biba's for years;Heared about Biba's for years; finally made it to the restuarant......don't know why it took us so long!.....Great Restuarant!!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMdeliclious lunchthe lasagna that is only made on thursdays and fridays melts in your mouth...amazing....
and the prawn salad was fresh and tasty with peas and asparagus, etc...5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMoutstanding dining experienceI can't believe that we have lived in Sacramento for 16 years but this was our first time at Biba's. Thank you for making our 20th wedding anniversary a treat! I have to say the best part was our server. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. She knew the food and made recommendations, even suggesting to split the appetizer plates so we would have a better sampling of the amazing food, and a pasta substitution when my husband hesitated ordering the gnocci. The ingredients were super fresh and distinctive. Portions were generous but not oversized. More than anything, every bite was worth savoring. It will not take a special occasion to bring us back.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely Classy. Amazing ServiceThe ambiance is great. Very mildly lit and comfortably ventilated. It was more expensive that I was expecting. About $75 a Person without alcohol.
The Service was phenomenal. My drink never fell below half before it was refilled. The Owner of the restaurant even came up to us and chatted for a bit. Our waiter was so great that when I left to add coins to the meter he ran outside to tell me it was late enough that the meters didn't matter.
The food was extremely rich. But not overbearing, full of flavor. balanced. My only complaint (not even a big deal) Is I thought the veggies were overcooked for my liking. But the Salmon was cooked to perfection. lightly crispy on the outside, very moist in the middle. It was a great experience.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Love Biba'sMy husband and I always choose Biba's for our special occasions. It is his favorite restaurant. We also like to take special friends and business associates. We have never been disappointed nor have our guests.
Thank you Biba!!!
Renee5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodWe made the mistake of not going completely Italian. We started with an evening special, gnocchi and they were the best I had ever eaten. Then we switched to the entree menu. I had the rib eye and my wife had the sea bass and both were pedestrian. The next time we're going to pick from the pasta section and we have a feeling we won't be dissapointed.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter, who was warm,Our waiter, who was warm, professional and knowledgable, forgot to bring the cappuchino we ordered with dessert. That is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of the BestWe eat at Biba a lot. The service is always the best as is the food. We have tried many restaurants, but none have met the exceptional standards set by the staff at Biba. Our waiter was wonderful and he made my Mother's Day dinner a fun and enjoyable experience. Biba is the Best of the Best!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day DelightThis was our first return visit to Biba's in about two decades. We expected first class food, treatment and setting and were not disappointed. The extensive but affordable wine list offered plentiful choices for any budget. The dishes were quite exquisite and the wait staff knowledgable and friendly. The evening cost less than we expected and delivered better than expected. Perhaps it was extra-crowded because of Mother's Day celebrants, but our early evening dinner took a little longer than we would have preferred – about 2.5 hours for a 2-hour meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentThis is not your typical generic "Olive Garden-type" Italian restaurant. The dinners were excellent, the best Italian I've had outside of Italy and I will dine here again. I had the sweetbreads appetizer and my entree was rabbit. Both were delicious and obviously not on your typical Italian menu.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSubtle Flavors and TexturesHow did they grill those scallops? This was the question we continued to ponder as we discussed the wonderfully prepared dinner into the night. The meals were served at the perfect temperature after being expertly prepared. Presentation, flavors, textures and service were perfect. The room was a bit loud... but it was Friday night and the room was energized. Biba worked the room and the tables as a gracious hostess and spoke with us at the end of the evening.
Bottom line... I consider the food the best I've eaten since my visit to New Orleans about 20 years ago.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMJust greatAs always, Biba delivers wonderful dining in a class atmosphere. Service and food great for our anniversary.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOh so Good...If you want some of the best pasta dishes in the country then you have to try Biba's pasta. Homemade and fresh as it can be, I've eaten very good pasta from NYC, LA, to SF and Biba's pasta is just outstanding. Then you have to top it off with her homemade tiramisu "AWESOME".4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant As It Should Be- PerfectWe live in Berkeley and rarely get to Sacramento. The main reasons we did was to revisit the Railroad Museum & to have dinner at Biba's.I have several of Biba's cookbooks & use them often.
If asked to define Biba's in one word-- it would be GRACIOUS. The menu was wonderful. It's difficult to find sweetbreads or liver anywhere today. Both were on the menu! They were accomodating when my husband asked for a half order of gnocchi to precede his large veal chop. The waiter filled all of our requests with warmth and alacrity. She was friendly, but not obtrusive. The ambience is perfect for such a special meal. One thing we liked was the vastness of the building & the spacing of the tables. We would go back time and again if we lived there.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time hereThis was our first time here and it was excellent. The food is superb. The pasta was amazing, as all fresh-made pasta should be. The ambiance is nice; vibrant and a bit loud which I like because then you feel like you can relax and enjoy your meal without the need to be "proper". My husband and I like to order multiple dishes and share them so we can try a bit of everything. Our server split all the dishes for us and even coursed them out for us. This could be our new Italian place.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe read the great reviewsWe read the great reviews on yelp, but I had no idea what to expect...the outside and the area weren't much...but the bar was open and friendly...the dining room is like old world dining..roomy but not expansive..the building itself is over 100 years old and the dining room has old world charm..DON'T READ 'OLD'..more charming..wait staff were friendly..helpful...food was surprisingly good!!!! the lasagna pasta was soooo thin...and my unusual dish of orrozpetti and scallops with a hint of broccoli heads was great! unusual ..no red sauce..no cheese...but delicious!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Service and PriceWe dine at Biba's four or five times a year and find the service well above many more expensive restaurants and the prices lower. An excellent choice for an exceptional meal with great service at a reasonable price.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Wait staff, has that justThe Wait staff, has that just right touch, I was never asked a question when either myself or my date had food in our mouths or preparing to take a bite. The napkin swap was a nice touch for my date who was wearing black, wait staff immediately swapped the white one for a black.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant, open atmosphere,Pleasant, open atmosphere, good menu, and well prepared food. Professional, friendly service, no pretensions. Reasonable prices, especially for lunch. One of Sacramento's best restaurants.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, just such a relaxingAs always, just such a relaxing and enjoyable lunch with Biba and her very Professional and Friendly staff......!!!!!! The entire meal was simply wonderful and beyond all taste and presentation expectations......!!!!! A Truely beautiful way to spend your day......!!!!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMStaff was friendly and accomodatingStaff was friendly and accomodating. We arrived early and were graciously invited to join happy hour in the bar. The bartender, Joon, was very friendly. The dining area was bright and cheery. Salads were woderful with very fresh crisp ingridients. I asked for some arugula with my beet salad and they happily accomodated my request. The "fish stew" was indredible! THe best of any I have ever had. Fish and seafiood was fresh and the broth was heavenly. I had to resist asking for more bread to soak it all up. My husband had the rabbit and stated if ws perfect. We won't stay away so long in the future.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT SERVICEWe enjoyed our lunch at Biba. The food was great as always. The nicest part was our server (Beth) she was exceptional. Very helpful and knowledgable about the menu as my husband requires a gluten food meal. We would ask for her again the next time we go there.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food and Service.Excellent Food and Service. Portions are just right, as well. When we are in Sacramento we always make a point of eating there.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant has been myThis restaurant has been my favorite in all of Sacramento for years. I have never had a bad experience here, nor a disappointing meal.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was superb and theThe food was superb and the staff helpful and friendly.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday celebrationStaff and food were excellent. It was my daughters 29th birthday and the staff put a candle on her desert which was very nice. No singing which was also nice. Biba's has a nice open atmosphere in their dinning room and a more intimate atmosphere in the lounge area. Enjoyed the happy hour as well. Thanks3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe quintessential ItalianThe quintessential Italian food experience: remarkable food, an affable owner who knows her customers, professional waitstaff, a barkeep who can make standards as well as chi chi modern twists. Gnocchi - to die for; Friday/Saturday 7-layer lasagna - melt in your mouth. A wonderful table for a special occasion which is noted. And a little "extra" at desert.
None better - that says it all.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDine at Biba'sBiba's is excellent! The lasagna is truly Italian. Eight layers and hard to make. Lots of prep time. The beet salad is exceptional. Great gnocchi and ravioli. Our server was the best. She has been at Biba's for years and made the meal come alive. It is truly wonderful to dine at Biba's.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AM"Nits and Picks"A great place... Will be glad when construction is done. The room on occasion has an odd smell; perhaps the plumping otherwise divine!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAn outstanding dining experienceAn outstanding dining experience which made the birthday exceptional.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday lunchLoved the soft yellows of the main dining room, especially with the noontime sun streaming in. Food was better than A+. I settled on the spinach lasagna (available on Thursday and Friday only). The flavors blended together so well that no one ingredient just grabbed you and took over the entire experience. My husband chose the luver and onions. He said they were prepared differently from his "normal," but were excellent. How else to top off a birthday lunch than with a too-big-for one piece of Tiramisu?3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways just right!Biba is always a great go to for us. I highly reccomend you split the gnocchi nad ravioli specials with someone. No matter what they are they're always phenominal. I'm a big fan of their oso buco and sweetbreads as well.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe very much enjoyed the experienceWe very much enjoyed the experience at lunch. The only downside is it was expensive. If it had been $30 less it would have been the perfect experience. (Our bill for 2 was $92)3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBiba is excellent. I hadBiba is excellent. I had not been there on several years and found it to be as good as before or maybe better. The setting is very nice. The service was excellent and our waiter was knowledgable. The pasta was incredible and we were also very pleased with the salmon entree. We finished with a shared tiramisu and a glass of port. Couldn't have been better!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic. BibaThe food was fantastic. Biba moving around the restaurant greeting diners is a very nice touch. Server was very professional and accommodating, but there was too much time in between courses in regards to the delivery of the food.1/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI reviewed Biba one week ago.I reviewed Biba one week ago.
