A word from Biagio's Osteria
Rustic Southern Italian kitchen with strong influence from Tuscany. All professional staff with over 30 years experience.
"It is most certainly a gourmet establishment with a menu from top to bottom that is exquisitely creative with tastes and flavors and choices that make selections so joyously difficult--and with a wine list to match food and pocketbook. Consider this the now best Italian restaurant in the state. Three cheers for Biagio the chef."

"Concealed jewel, but easily accessible off the parkway. Esteemed staff that goes about taking care of your every need, especially the maitre d'. Exceptional menu with meals that make you crave for more. The homemade pasta dishes are unequaled to any place in the state. This is an elite restaurant that I will entertain my family and my business clients at. Head chef will go above and beyond his means for satisfaction of customer."

Had a wonderful dinner with my parents and boyfriend. We live upstate so it is always nice to see them. The food was fantastic as usual. I enjoyed the stuffed sole special, and my boyfriend enjoyed a delicious homemade pasta dish. The service in the past has seemed top notch as I work in fine dining myself, but we repeatedly had to ask for our server (they were not that busy). Maybe it was a lazy sunday, but all in all Biagio's continues to be our favorite restaurant.

  • Small location/big portions
    OpenTable Diner Since 2013

If you like big portions this restaurant delivers on that. A wide selection of Italian dishes prepared in unique ways with spices and/or ingredients. Our group would have preferred smaller portions and lower prices however. Can't see ordering more than one item as even the salad before was large even though I'd asked for a 'small green salad' as a side. If in the area its a good choice for dining--but be mindful it is a small place and tables are close to each other. The servers were very good and attentive.

The occasion was to celebrate life with a coworker who was in flight with me the day of 9/11. We departed Bradley airport at 8:20 a.m. the morning the world stood still - watching the towers in NYC. Our destination was Charlotte NC.When we landed in Charlotte we were welcomed with chaos - travelers watching monitors in horror about what was happening back home. Within 24 hours we were on the road driving from Charlotte, NC back to CT.That journey created a bond that would last a lifetime. We have made it a priority every year to celebrate each other and on Wednesday, 11/5 we made the best choice to celebrate at Biagio's. The food beyond outstanding.Service - top notch. Biagio himself made us feel right at home.No disappointments here

Biagio's is a great spot for a quiet conversation night at the bar with great wine and food or bringing a larger group and sitting in their cozy dining room. Food is awesome, usually order from the daily specials and the appetizers so we can try many small plates- although don't let 'small' fool, generous portions for apps. Favorites are the veal meatballs over polenta, Braised short ribs, apple bourbon barolo, saffron parmesan grits, apple slaw or the eggplant melanzane. And again- that's just their apps!

WOW.... Coming from an Italian household good italian food is aways compared to Mom's. While Mom was not cooking and the Chef was, All I have to say is I was completly blown away. The food was fantastic!!!The service was great and not to pushy. I just wanted dinner and an hour or two with my wife. It was perfectly staged. I ordered the veal and my wife ordered a wellington. They were both perfect. The wine list has soemthing for every budget. The desert is freshly made. You can tell!!!... EXCELLANT. Now added to the top of my preferred list. Cannot wait to have dinner again. A++

Biagio's is located in a quaint shopping center just off the Merritt Pkwy. It can be a little hard to find, but it is worth the effort. The service and food are outstanding. One of our favorites is the Veal Osso Buco which never disappoints. It is not a big restaurant and at peak time it gets crowed and can be noisy. If you arrive around 6, before the 7 pm rush, the restaurant not crowded and is still quiet.

I used to be a fan of this restaurant. This experience changed my mind. The 4 of us were saddened by several things. The waiter never told us about the appetizer and salad specials, and didn't seem to care when I expressed disappointment. When we received our food, only one dish was, what I considered to be, above par, the other three were devoid of flavor. I opted to get out of there without dessert, asked for the bill, gave it a quick look-over and paid. When I arrived home, my wife asked how much the bill was (photographic memory) and when she looked it over, she pointed out that he had overcharged us for three items (she looks at menu prices very carefully), SHADY practice!! At these prices, there are better places to eat.

We went to Biagio's for my birthday and had a perfect evening. When we walked in, I was afraid it was too noisy and the tables were too close. But when we sat down, we had an intimate conversation without difficulty hearing each other or fearing we were heard by our neighbors. The food was excellent--fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. I had to bring half my entree home to save room for dessert, so I'd say the portions were ample. After the main course, not only the dishes, but the crumbs were removed. The staff was attentive without hovering and helpful, not snooty, as the staff too often is in fine restaurants. The bill was what I would expect for the quality of the experience. We'll return and recommend Biagio's to friends.

First time diner. Ambiance was similar to past experiences eating at neighborhood restuarants in Italy. Good crowd - seemed like a lot of regulars. Staff was active, but sometimes forgetful on simple requests like milk for tea and topping off water; food was solid, if not spectacular. Oddly, we were never offered a wine menu. Owner was friendly and checked-in with us twice over the course of the evening - which was kind as we changed our reservation time. Pleasant option if looking for a fun and enjoyable meal.

My wife and I had dinner here recently. We've been here three times. The food is outstanding. The service this last time was extremely slow however. They may have been short waiters but we arrived at 6:30 and did not leave until nearly 9! One other note which may be important, the tables are right on top of each other so good luck with a private conversation.

My husband and I made a reservation at Biagio at the end of a 3 day trip. We had found our eats thus far to be just ok and not worth the money spent. From the moment we entered Biagio we were impressed with the service, attention to detail and genuineness of the staff. The menu was very inventive while still having typical classics. The presentations were artful and the food was one fresh delicious bite after another. When the check arrived we commented to each other that we had paid double for far less quality and service at other upscale Italian restaurants. Since we are out of towners we won't likely be returning to Biagio anytime soon and that is a tragedy. Go and Enjoy - you'll love it!

First it was a special occasion for my cousin. We ordered the Veal Chop, medium. It came out well done, dry and tastless. I do recommend your restaurant, I've been 6 times in two years. I would like two "free" dinners, but that would of taken too much time.of taken. Disappointed, my bill, was was $245.00 with a 20% tip still to the waiter, total bill was $295.00. I would like two "free" dinner or dinner on the house for my 4 people..out of courtesy. I am a regular loyal customer, would you please accommodate my request, as I am loyal, picked your restaurant, as it is in my top two restaurant that I frequent. I hope you can call me, or email me back. Please understand my honesty. Robert Secondi (203)430-0341 - my cell#

While the food TASTED great, the experience was not. We were greeted then left standing until another waiter asked if we were being helped. Only after asking our waiter if there were any specials was this information offered. Two of our dinners came with closed mussels, and when the new dinners came (after which our wives had almost finished theirs) I found another closed mussel. (I just set it aside since it was apparent the chef was too busy to check). Although the calamari appetizer was awesome, the smaller ones on our dinners were hard and rubbery. And even though when we reserved we indicated that we were celebrating a birthday and anniversary, not even a congratulation was offered. Very disappointing, we won't be back.

We went to Biagio's Osteria because another place we were going to go to had closed. We were going to mini golf up thee road and wanted someplace close by. I am very glad we went. The food was excellent. The service very good. I had the veal meatballs on polenta as an appetizer which was delicious. We both had lobster ravioli as an entree. It was delicious. My only complaint, and it is very minor, is the bread. It was a hard crusted bread that tasted a bit burnt on the crust. I would have preferred a good Italian bread, especially to sop up the leftover sauce from the ravioli. Overall it was an excellent dinner and we will be back.
